Works great. It sticks on the wall and aims the laser down. Little level to guestimate where the stud is if it is not level. Only thing I could think to improve it would be make it long enough to catch two screws. Then people would just think it was bulky
I have really enjoyed having this laser attached to a magnet stud finder. My only question is why now? Seems so simple to pair these two together that electronic stud finders should have never been invented. Magnet + Laser + Bubble Level is all you need to find studs and way more accurate. My only suggestion for improvement is that the one of the leading magnetic stud finders has a more powerful magnet and there fore can find the screw heads easier. Still, the laser on this makes me grab it everytime.
I find this tool to be very handy. It's to find as I use the magnetic feature to hang it on my air ducts in the basement along with other magnetic tools.It is convenient to use, once you have located a drywall screw or nail, level the tool and then use to lazer to shoot a beam to either the floor or ceiling and you know where the stud it.I recently used it to hang pictures.
I have a concerte home (ICF construction--polysteel) with steel about 12" apart in the concrete. The magnets will not pick that up. So I'm a bit disappointed in the product. Right now, it is hanging on the back of my music stand. I use it like a refrigerator magnet. Not the purpose I had in mind.
I live in a 200 year old house. The previous owners removed the old horsehair plaster walls and wooden lathe, replacing them with modern concrete back board and new plaster. I've tried many different stud finder with no success until now. This product rocks.
What a great idea. Plan to use when hanging drywall. The magnet os very strong for finding screw heads. The laser is easy to see. Standard Kreg high quality construction. I also like AAA batteries versus watch type cells.
I got this hoping I could use it to replace most of my use of a traditional stud finder. Those units get annoying as you keep sweeping back and forth and sometimes get inconsistent readings. They also require a hand on them at all times so using one in conjunction with other items can get annoying. If you find a screw in the wall and it's not driven in too far and the magnet attaches to it strongly, then this thing is awesome, sticks to the wall in either orientation and the laser works great. That said I was attempting to use it to hang a shelf and I spent a bunch of time sweeping back and forth trying to find any screw.
