L'Oreal Paris Unbelievabrow 104 Chatain

I normally use a pencil to fill my brows in and always have. Mine don't suit powders or pomades - as my brows are super fine, a dark blonde shade and I just don't suit really bold brows - I also find the pencil I currently use stays on very well (Maybelline Total Temptation), and it's almost waterproof the way I apply it. Though I'm glad it came with that extra slanted brush, because applying it straight with the applicator from the tube - resulted in way too much product and a mess. So I had to just use the slanted brush to apply the product especially on my arch and the ends of my brows which are too short and I usually have to draw on. I chose dark brunette as I prefer a darker brow, and this colour was cool toned like my pencil. If you make a mistake, keep one of those cotton bud makeup applicators on hand to quickly wipe off any excess before it sets. The end result were very nicely shaped, very bold brows, but just way too unnatural looking for me! I wouldn't even be able to pull off such brows with a face full of makeup. They reminded me of the typical "Instagram eyebrows" which is not a look that suits me. Interesting product but not for me. If you like the really bold brow look then give it a go - but I'll be sticking with my brow pencils! It also easily removes with micellar water or makeup remover - I was expecting the product to stay on like those "brow tattoo" products, but luckily for me it was easy to remove.

I tested this product in the "Blonde" shade (I have blonde hair and fair skin but naturally darker eyebrows). The gel was a thick consistency and has quite a strong unpleasant scent. The applicator has a foam foot on it which is to be used in combination with a separate spoolie brush and thinner applicator brush to define the eyebrow. I really would have liked the spoolie brush to be incorporated into the one product as it's a bit inconvenient to have a separate applicator and likely very easy to misplace. If you didn't have the spoolie brush to blend in, the product would look really obvious and unnatural. \n\nThe gel was long lasting and you only need a small amount, so I could see this product lasting a while. It blends out really well and has a generous dry down time considering the product doesn’t smudge. But it can be built up for a more dramatic higher coverage look if you so chose to for a more night time look.Precision is key, but once your brows are done they will stay in place all day.The brush/spoolie that comes with it is really great quality - a thin fine firm plastic bristled brush and a really durable spoolie on the other end. It doesn’t feel cheap at all.An unexpected benefit to this has to be its coverage of individual hairs. My brows have sparser spots but as I mentioned before aren’t lacking pigment. I tried this on a friend with lighter brows - applying first with the brush then picking remaining product and brushing it through on the spoolie. It covered every hair and had the look of freshly tinted brows. I don’t think this would work in reverse ie a blonde gel over dark brows, but if you wanted to darken up and go more dramatic it’s a fool proof product as it lasts easily all day without smudging, flaking or going generally messy.

As someone with very sparse East Asian brows, I am a big fan of brow products: I've tried pomades, self tan that specifically dyes the skin underneath the brow hair, I've tried your average pencil and powder combo and I've tried the "leave overnight paste that peels off" stuff too. L'Oreal did a great pomade which is still available at the moment. This is the one I use most often. It's natural and buildable and the colour is really natural on me (ebony). I also like the leave-on gels that dye your skin. I have one from a Korean company that works well and gives lovely long lasting natural looking definition. But, it is a look folks! I've seen many people sporting the stark power brow look so, if you're after that, this product's for you. The pigment of the ebony shade is strong and the brush and spooley that comes with it help you buff out the colour so it doesn't look so solid. The applicator makes it a little difficult to achieve an accurate shape but with a bit of practice, it's much easier. 2) It's not more long lasting than other ordinary brow products. After lightly washing my face the make up came off completely, so I'm not sure about the claims of being really long lasting.I really wanted to love this product but it just doesn't deliver.

I was really pleased with the gel though and found it really easy to use. It takes a little longer to use than my pencil but I'm talking less than a minute more and then it sets my brows for the day, which is fantastic! With my pencil, my brows look neat and defined but aren't set in place and if my hair is down they're guaranteed to get brushed the wrong way by it at some point. Once on, the gel is set for the whole day and night - it doesn't budge until I take it off with my cleanser.I do one brow at a time because this gel does set in about a minute. First thing I do is wipe the excess product off the doefoot applicator back into the bottle because I don't need much of this and don't like my brows looking to heavy - natural but groomed is the look I'm after. Then I use the flat, thicker side of the doefoot to smooth gel onto the first two thirds of my brow (the thickest part) before turning it on it's side to use the thin edge along the last third of my brow (the thinnest part). Next, I grab the double-ended brush and use the angled end to create a nice clean line along the underside of my brow (just using the gel already on my brows, not adding any more), then turn it over to use the mascara wand to brush the product through for a natural finish. I only swipe the mascara wand through once because I don't want to move the gel around, just to comb it through for a nice finish, so one swipe is enough. Voila! I'm done, it sets shortly after and then my brows are perfect and in place for the day.

Super lightweight…. The consistency is what I like most about it. I also appreciate that it is transparent. I’m not really a fan of tinted brow gels. This product kept my brows in place all freaking day. I wore it for about 12 hrs. I am without a doubt going to repurchase this when I run out of the one I have. I went in with no expectations, I watched a YouTube video on how to apply it, the video said use the wand to fill in sparse bits then brush through with the spoolie and shape using the angled brush, this was a huge fail!I take the wand out of the tube and wipe excess off on the side of the tube, I comb through my brows using the spoolie then take the angled brush and start gently applying it from the centre of my brow, I take a little at a time off the wand, comb and repeat following my brows natural arch. I then use whatever excess is on my angled brush to fill in the side closest to my nose so it's lighter. If you practice you can achieve fine hair like strokes.I've tried using my bdellium tools angled brush for this and it didn't give the same look, I think you're best using the brush supplied with it.This is the first L'Oreal product I have bought since I was about 15 and I'm so pleased I did, I've used everything from high end to drug store and so far this and the sleep powder pencil are winning them all! This will definately be a must for the sweaty summer months as it doesn't budge until you remove with make up remover.PS my brows aren't slugs, they're distant cousins slowly getting a closer bond (one day I hope they will be like sisters!)

Love it!

I love this product! I have dark brown hair and buy the "dark brunette" shade which is a lovely, natural, cool toned, brown shade (some other eyebrow products seem to have an orange tint to them). The product gives quite a bold brow but as long as you're not too heavy handed you can feather it into a more natural look. I always get compliments about my eyebrows when I use this product from women of all ages. I also work 13hour shifts on a busy ward where I sweat tonnes and this stuff does not budge!!!

More suitable for a stronger brow look

I bought Unbelieva’brow in the shade Cool Blonde. This shade did not look cool-toned on my fair skin. It was neutral or warm-toned. I would have preferred a cooler undertone, but the product blended in well because it wasn’t too dark.Unbelieva’brow has a doe foot applicator, but I applied it with my own brow brush so that I could create a softer brow look. I had to be careful to apply the product with a light touch because it had an opaque and highly pigmented formula. If I was not careful, I ended up with a heavier brow look which is not for me. The product had really good longevity.I did not reach for Unbelieva’brow very often so I forgot about it. I recently rediscovered the product and it had not dried up after I first started using it a year ago.

My new go to holy grail of brow products!

I’ve tried many brow products over the years and this is most definitely the best I’ve tried to date. I usually use a pencil but wanted something that would last the whole day/night which this product does. I apply it sparingly with the little slanted brush that it comes with rather than the applicator as I like a softer look and then brush through with the spoolie supplied after waiting 90 seconds for it to dry. It fills in my sparse sections perfectly and I can sculpt a nice, natural shape quite easily (after a little initial practice). And yes it really does last all day, evening and night if I want it to! When I want to take it off I do so with my usual makeup remover. She loves it too and creates the bolder brow that she favours so I’d say it’s very versatile as you can create either a soft, natural look or a bolder, more sculpted one. I then bought the Brown/Chatain (104) which is the perfect, slightly lighter, ashy brown tone for me. Both shades are true browns and neither have any orangey red undertones. My daughter and I both highly recommend Unbelieva’brow, it’s our new go to holy grail of brow products!
