I've been wearing low volume Solutions for about three years, and I've always loved them. One thing that I would have improved upon, though, was the sensitivity. They always felt a bit stiff when working volumes. Well, it's as if my wishes were granted with the Solution Comp! They're super sticky and responsive on small holds, heel hooks are as solid as I've grown to trust in the Solution heel cup, and now I feel even more confident smearing on volumes as well as holding tension while stretching out on tiny toe chips. The fit/sizing is exactly the same as traditional Solutions, so you'll have no guessing games there. I take them off between climbs because they are quite aggressive and don't feel great to walk around in. This shoe is perfect for the gym.

The toe hooks on these are amazing, you barely even have to flex your leg to hook on something. The rubber is grippy and in just the right spot to provide quality performance. I love the pointed toe which lets me get it into small crevasses such as on crimps and especially in pockets. These shoes break in pretty fast, after just two climbing sessions it feels much better. The heel hooks on these though are quite painful and I found that my heel slipped out more than with the La Sportiva solutions but that could be because this shoe is relatively new to me or just my foot shape. The heel has some dead space to it but I found that all the high performance shoes do and this one is one of the shoes with the least dead space. I recommend taking a really small size ... I recommend taking a really small size because these stretch about a full size to half a size once fully broken in. I do like that the heel is smaller than some other shoes like the solutions since it can more compactly fit into places. As well as that, the heel is more sensitive, which makes you feel more secure, but once again means that there will be some more pain than with stiffer heels. All in all, these shoes are great high performance shoes and I will be getting them again once my current ones wear out.

The solution comp provides the perfect combo of precision and sensitivity!I currently own the Skwama, Solution, and Genius from La Sportiva, and this shoe fits into that line up as a nice blend of all three. The profile of the toe box provides the precision I love from the regular Solution. With the pointier toe, you are able to easily place all of your power down onto tiny edges or cram your toe into smaller pockets. The sensitivity of the shoe and the increased toe hooking rubber brings in my favorite elements from the Skwama. It is so easy to trust your feet in these shoes! I've now tested these shoes on both polished limestone smears and pockets at Wild Iris and on the smooth slippery cobbles of Maple and Echo Canyon, and they performed extremely well across ... I've now tested these shoes on both polished limestone smears and pockets at Wild Iris and on the smooth slippery cobbles of Maple and Echo Canyon, and they performed extremely well across the board!Lastly, the heel on the comp model is updated from the 3d molded heel of the regular Solution. The heel was my least favorite thing about the original Solution, but my complaints have been remedied with this new update. The heel is much lower profile, similar to that on the Genius, and it feels far more sensitive and responsive than the regular Solution.I think this is an excellent all around shoe. It has the precision for small holds and the sensitivity for smearing on insecure placements. The closure system allows your heel to feel rock solid in the shoe, and the toe-hooking patch is massive. Pick up a pair and you won't be disappointed! As for sizing: I wear a 41.5 in Skwama and Genius, and 42 in regular Solution. I went with 42 in these and they feel great.Update: I have now used this shoe for indoor climbing as well as outdoor bouldering. This shoe is perfect for bouldering. The heel and toe both stick well for all of your technical hooking needs. The sensitivity and precision this shoe provides works perfectly on almost any boulder problem, indoor or out.

I have tried many shoes over the last 3 years. The shoe I trusted the most and excelled with was the Solution. The only issue I had was, the heel NEVER felt secure even if I downsized a lot. There was slippage. So then comes the Solution Comp.. and wow. It's the perfect shoe. It fits just like the Solution (I got the same exact size), it's a little less painful on the toes because of the revised heel shape, and FINALLY my heel feels secure! Heel hooks are so much better in this shoe than the regular Solution. I have a narrow foot and mostly climb indoors. The toe box and rubber feel the same as the Solution -- I literally didn't notice a difference and immediately trusted this shoe even on Day 1 -- no need to break them in much. I also get compliments on the color/look of this shoe! This will now be my recurring purchase of climbing shoes. If you love the Solution but the heel isn't quite right for your foot, give these a try.I wear 6.5 in women's sandals and 7 in street shoes/boots. I got these in a 37/6.5 (just like the Solutions) and they fit wonderfully. It's a tight fit for me without being uncomfortable. I prefer not to downsize a ton. If you like a snug but comfortable fit, go with street shoe size.
Overall great climbing shoes for high performing athletes! There is only one important advice - befor using shoes you have to protect "laces" with climbing tape (the one you usually use for your fingers). Otherwise the laces will tear up very fast (it seems the metal loop holes are somehow sharp and scratches the laces constantly).
I bought them for my son. He is a teeneger training the indoor bouldering for the last 5 years (3 days a week), now quite advanced. This is the fourth pair of climbing shoes I am buying for him, and second pair of Solution comps. He says they are perfect and really enhacing his performance (compared to the other less aggresive models he used before).
I bought this shoe because I wanted a climbing shoe that had more toe rubber. I bought it in a half size too big, and MooseJaw customer service was super helpful in the exchange process in order to keep the sale price I got it for.I didn’t anticipate this shoe having such a soft/flexible sole. I am used to climbing with my la sportive katakis and Miuras that have a really stiff sole. At first I didn’t love it, because the soft sole left my feet cramping extra hard. The more I read about soft soles, however, I realized the soft sole will hopefully help strengthen my feet and will be good for volumes. I plan to continue to use their shoes for mostly for bouldering, and am still really excited about them.
I’ve tried a lot of climbing shoes, and this shoe is far and away my favorite one. It’s stiff enough to work well on small edges both in the gym and outdoors, while also being flexible enough to easily stand on big features and volumes. I’ve ordered many pairs of these, and I don’t see myself stopping any time soon. This shoe is by far the best all around shoe for high end bouldering and sport climbing, whether it be at the crag, in competition, or at the climbing gym.
I wanted to try these because they were softer than the women's solutions. To start, my go to shoes are Scarpa Instincts VS and VSR, size 39.5 for both. My street shoe size is 8 in women's. The scarpa instincts for men as well as the VSR fit me very well but I absolutely loved the color of these comp solutions for women. Unfortunately the fit was not good. My heel was not securely in the shoe and kept popping out. The over all fit, feel and look on my feet did not make me feel secure as a climber.I ordered them in both 39.5 and 40 just to be sure. Sizing down would not have been an option as the heel didn't fit good in either size. I wanted to like these but they're just not made for my feet. Maybe the men's comp might work but I didn't care for the color.
I recommend the comp solutions to everyone within earshot. I got my first pair in June of 2020 and it took me until May of 2022 to finally wear a hole in them. Long lasting and reliable with good footwork! They are a dream for a slab specialist like me, or overhang junkie —soft enough to transmit the feel every micro edge, but supportive enough to let you stand hard into them too. The sharp beak of the toe and knife edges allow you to kiss the wall in style. The large toe patch is great for smearing the top of your foot against the wall for balance in a tricky slab problem, or keeping you snugly in place on an overhang. I really appreciate the lower profile heel cup —I find the ones on the original solutions to be too bulbous and deep. The rubber is delightfully ... All in all I can’t say enough good things about the comp solutions. La Sportiva, you better keep making these!
