This is a super high quality scotch for collectors. It’s very smooth to drink and has an intense smoke flavor. For this reason I think it’s best to drink neat since it would be hard to pair with food, except maybe barbecue. The smoke flavor takes over anything else that you’re eating otherwise.

And it burns a little going down. It's definitely during stuff and best for tiny sips. But if you like a smokey, peaty flavor you should definitely try it!

One of the best single malt for the price out there. (If you like the smoky flavors) It has been a staple for me for about two years now. I am a big fan and this will always be one of my favorite smoky single malts. I do agree with people that this is not for everyone since it has a strong smoky flavor. Bot everyone likes it. But I absolutely love it.
I am not a big whiskey drinker. There are many I just don't enjoy. Years ago I was at a hotel bar in Sheffield and asked the bartender for his favorite scotch. He poured me a Lagavulin 16. I have been in love ever since. The complexity and sheer number of flavors still amaze me. Kudos for making the best whiskey hands down in this old Yank's opinion.
My personal favorite of any and all readily available scotch.The tasting notes combine like a symphony. Nothing too overpowering, everything complimenting each aspect of this fine Islay. It’s elegant. Superb.
Lagavulin 16 is a legend. A simply outstanding single malt whisky which is both superbly peaty and yet amazingly smooth. At around $200 a bottle from some vendors it is sadly becoming less accessible.
I bought three bottles and am a regular Lagavulin drinker. This first one is either counterfeit or mid blended. It lacks the distinctive peaty,medicinal strength that commands the price point of Lagavulin. I’m now not looking forward to bottles two and ghree
This will always sum up exactly what to expect from an Islay. It carries all the classic notes to be expected from iodine to saltwater and meaty bacon. Incredibly balanced and pleasing. Perfect.
This is one of the best whiskys hands down. A wonderful balance of smoke, peat and malt. Worth every bit of the $100 I used to pay regularly. Recent price hikes have made it out of the reach of the common man. If you can get a bottle for the right price, don't share it.
