Laguna 14/12 Bandsaw CE Model*
These ‘high end’ features include a pyramid shaped spine that minimises any frame distortion when the blade is fully tensioned, ensuring cutting accuracy. The 1¾ HP TEFC braked motor provides adequate power for even the deepest cuts. There is a quick blade release tension lever that makes blade changing faster and this is complimented with an easy to view blade tension scale indicator to easily ensure correct tension set up. The micro polished 21′′ X 16′′ cast iron table is mounted onto an oversized Trunion with two locking points that ensure there is a solid surface to work from. The rigid aluminium high/low fence ensures full and precise timber support. Solid cast iron wheels are electronically / dynamically balanced & fitted with polyurethane one-piece tyres designed to run cooler & last longer than conventional tyres. The worm gear & pinion on the blade guard is ultra-smooth and engineered to have minimum flex even when fully extended – this is a trade mark of Laguna. Double windows allow you to check both tension & tracking while the machine is running. There is a premium anodized aluminium throatplate with fine adjustment for ultimate accuracy. And last but certainly not least, the famous ceramic Laguna guides create 10 points of contact on the blade allowing easy set up and highly accurate cuts even when re-sawing deep timber. This really is a machine that needs to be viewed in the flesh to appreciate the premium build quality and features that have established this saw as a best seller in America and Canada.

This is my first foray into bandsaws and after 1 week I'm really pleased with my investment. I'm 5'11" and appreciate the lower table. The blade is easy to install and set up. The guides are pretty simple and don't require any tools. The resaw capability is especially impressive with little blade drift. Laguna missed the boat on a few things: As others have written, the instructions could use more details, but it is manageable. Also, the Laguna stand isn't worth the money IMHO. It is a top heavy machine and having the weight distributed to only three points when being moved doesn't make much sense. In hindsight, I would go with a Rockler four wheel system. Also, the base is screaming for a door to allow for storage. This is so apparent and can't understand how ... Also, the fence wasn't completely square with the table, but a shim from a soda can worked perfect. Sounds like a lot of negatives, but overall, this machine is solid and I'm very happy with this purchase; I wouldn't hesitate recommending it.

The Laguna 1412 has impressive build quality that is evident at every turn. The ceramic guides are the reason I got this saw, and they make the blade track like a laser. The guides are easy to adjust, and offer 5 points of contact above the blade, and 5 points of contact below the blade. Personally, I've replaced too many bandsaw bearings to count, so I was happy to switch to ceramic guides. The rack and pinion height adjustment is a standout feature. Your blade will remain square to the table, and your guide settings will be maintained, regardless of cut height. The rack and pinion is just solid and reliable in operation. The throat plate is extra large, which lets you see what you're doing for blade changes. Blade changes on the 1412 are easier than any bandsaw I've ever used. In fact, if you raise the guide post (rack and pinion) up near the top and open the magnetic blade guard... the blade guard will prevent the blade from falling off the wheel as you install it. Pretty slick!Power is exceptional. In fact, I couldn't believe I was using a 120v saw. The motor, wheels and bearings are SMOOTH.The only thing I don't care for is the fence when it's in "Flat" mode. I love the fence rail, and tall fence in re-saw mode. But when you lay the fence flat, it is very low. Plus it blocks half of your work table. I made a custom everyday fence that works great. It uses the same mounting hardware as the re-saw fence and works great.Dust collection with a single 4" port is really quite good.Overall 5 stars. Complaints are few and far between.

The only issues I have so far is the fence and the throatplate. You can adjust it left to right but top to bottom isn't an option. Mine was a good 1/8 out on the fence to the blade, top of the fence 1/8 bottom zero. This is an awful lot over 5 1/2 " in my opinion. I ended up sticking a razor knife blade where the 3 allen bolts screw in to square it up. Pretty cheesy fix but it looks like there's no other option. Probably replace the knife blade with aluminum tape to reduce the cheesyness factor. The throatplate where the blade goes through is slightly thinner than the slot it goes in making a lip that catches your stock as its fed through. I'll be remaking a new one out of hardwood with a magnet on the bottom to do away with the screw but I thought it was also ... MoreThe only issues I have so far is the fence and the throatplate. You don't need the one with the brake. This is extremely high-quality, and it purrs beautifully.I had one issue - the bottom stand was difficult to line up the 4th bolt with the base of the machine. I had to use several large wood clamps to align, and finally got it through. The washers provided stick out over the edge a little bit, making it look slightly awkward like I just threw some random washers on it.Other than that, a wonderful machine.
Excellent tool. Very simple to set up and quite versatile. Only minor complaint is some of the paint is bubbling on the frame component at the back of the saw. Maybe a 3 sq. in. area of paint. If I could get some matching paint that would be appreciated, but certainly not a big deal, just cosmetic. I assume there may have been some dirt/oil/corrosion there before they sprayed the paint. I noticed this about a month or two after I received the saw. Still warrants 5 stars from my perspective.
Federated tool were very helpful. I could not have the saw delivered to my house due to steep driveway so they arranged it to be delivered to a local freight depo for me to pick up. Tool price and shipping from On to BC were the lowest on the market. The saw in box fit in the back of my Subaru forester with the help on a forklift. Saw was very well packaged. I didn’t read the manual but instead watched the 14 part Laguna YouTube video series which was fantastic. Getting the base on the tool was a pain single handedly. I was nervous for the blade guide setup as I heard it was finicky, but it was a breeze with the tutorial. A little annoying to adjust the guides under the table but was ok in the end. First cuts were with a 3/4” Resaw king blade through 11” vertical old growth fir. Cut was flawless and dust collection was very good. The mobile base is a bit unstable while moving but better than not having one. Overall I would highly recommend the tool and federated tool.
I was glad to have some help standing it up, but the assembly went well. Rather than the three wheel mobile base, I used a Grizzly Bear Crawl four wheel, drilling through it to use the holes in the bottom of the Laguna base. Table height seems fine, but I'm not tall.Had a problem with the trunnions. I couldn't tilt the table easily. At first I thought it was rough surfaces, but polishing didn't help. Laguna tech support was quick, they sent me a note on loosening the trunnions, letting them settle into the lower bases and re-tightening. Worked well, and with a long hex key you can tighten one of the screws on each with the table in place. Makes it easier to remove it and tighten the others without having it slip.As others have said, one issue is the lower blade ... Makes it easier to remove it and tighten the others without having it slip.As others have said, one issue is the lower blade guide rear adjustment. They use the same piece top and bottom, which makes sense, but the two choices for screwing the setting knob in either make it hard to reach the lower guide when adjusting it for a new blade, or get in the way when you tilt the table.I suggested they drill and tap another hole for the screw, letting it come in low on the front.Runs fairly quiet, cuts well, fence adjusts easily. I'll know more in a few months, but am happy so far.
I've been using this for a couple of weeks and so far it lives up to my expectations. The manual is lacking but setup was easy thanks to Laguna's youtube videos. Dust collection works nicely, fit and finish is great. Hardly any adjustments needed, this saw cuts beautifully out of the box. Scroll cuts and resawing (especially resawing!) are light years beyond my old 1980s craigslist saw. Many thoughtful design features on this saw but it's not perfect - the fence knob can block the bottom door in certain positions, and the bottom blade guard can be hard to adjust even if you move the diagonal knob to the opposite side as is suggested in the video. But these aren't major enough to knock a star off. I'd recommend this bandsaw without reservation.
bought this amazing bandsaw at a great price. ive never even owned one...bought it on a whim.... and really it makes me so happy. It took me about 1.5 hours to put together and setup.... it has already come in handy! its amazing how a tool youve never owned can be so handy right out of the gate!pros.... powerful, smooth...sexy, like mecons... a bit unstable when wheeling it around. noisier than i expected, fence aligning was a pain in the kiester.i would buy this again, but not tomorrow, maybe in 20 years when this one breaks down.
I've had this saw for 2 years. At first I was happy with it but after I have had it for a while my opinion has changed. Some of these might seem picky but at this price point my expectations are higher and these should not be an issue.1.The guide blocks don't hold their settings and when the blade is pushed into them they will throw sparks. Which is slightly scary when you are working with wood. Furthermore, one of the lower blocks keeps sliding out and falling off. I often find it laying inside the cabinet and have to re-install it. I am waiting for the day it gets sucked up by the dust collector.2. The greatest depth of re-saw that I have done is 8 inches. I'm unsure how one would do anything greater than this because of the power. And truthfully HSS blades ... MoreI've had this saw for 2 years. I am waiting for the day it gets sucked up by the dust collector.2. The greatest depth of re-saw that I have done is 8 inches. I'm unsure how one would do anything greater than this because of the power. And truthfully HSS blades need to be longer to handle greater depths because the blade gets really hot.3. I had to spend more money to get the mobile base and its terrible. Bolts will randomly fall off, because the feet on the base scrape the floor when the lift wheel is engaged in the up position. So I have to lift up on the saw to prevent the scraping but then the feet fall out.4. There is a magnetic strip that holds a protective door over the blade. That strip was the first to fall off.5. The configuration of the saw makes it really difficult to change the blade. The vertical saw support has a slit in it to accept the blade, but its really hard getting the blade into and out of this slit. Every time I put a blade in the teeth rub on it and I feel like I am dulling half the teeth on the blade.6. Here in the past month the saw has started to shake. I am unsure why. I am concerned the upper wheel is out of balance some how.7. dust collection is not that great since there is only one port. it really needs two ports.
