I was never a diehard fan of the Safari, at least not the fountain pen version of it. I do like its rollerball. What attracts me most is its minimalistic style and the body color options (I lean more towards the more "fun", untraditional pen body colors... yellow, green, white). I had to have the pink to add to my collection of "pop" colors. Also, I don't particularly care for the M63 refill that comes with the Safari. While it does create a rich, dark line, it produces a more broader line which isn't to my liking. I swap it out with a 0.5 mm blue-black Ohto C-305 ceramic rollerball refill. The Ohto is shorter in length than the Lamy M63, so I have to use a spacer to add enough length so that the refill sits correctly within the barrel. I was surprised to see a low star rating here. I absolutely LOVE Lamy pens. I have 2 rollerball and one fountain. The ink is smooth, they write well on all paper. I've had my three for over a year and they still look beautiful! White might not be the best color for a well used pen, just saying....but I got baby pink and light blue and both look great a year later. LOVE LAMY.

Plastic Pens Dont Get Better Than This. The Lamy Safari lives up to it's hype. It's made of high quality ABS plastic and overall, everything about this pen, from it's textured finish, to the way it's pieces fit together, speaks of a high level of attention to detail.Love loves it's look. It's oversized grip looks great in black and is one of the best, if not the best, clip I’ve ever used. I love it's strangely ergonomic grip (might take a moment or so to get used to, but its worth it) and the way it forces me to hold it in the proper position so my hand won’t cramp. I swear, this pen has corrected some of my bad writing habits and I will be forever in its debt.Note: buy this pen, the Safari. Skip the Al-Sport. I really like the shape and size of the lamy safari rollerball. I'm a lefty so I enjoy the fast drying rollerball ink. Lamy refill seems to skip sometimes though which can be solved by a little doodling or moisture.
I used to use Lamy since I was a high school student. I bought 3 Lamy pens such as a mechanical pencil, a ballpoint pen and a rollerball pen for my daughter as a gift for her admission to university at this fall. I'm pretty satisfied with the design, product quality and the great prices at this website Pen Boutique. I hope my daughter would love these gifts as I used to do for celebrating on her admission to the university.
The purchase was excellent.
I first came upon a Lamy safari pen in Narita airport back in the early eighties. I attached it to the neck of my t-shirt with it's no nonsense clip and it became a travelling companion for the next eight months traveling threw out southeast asia. Never to fail it was always there handy for writing notes, directions, journals, filling out forms for visas and so on. Comfortable and solid in the hand with its unique cap for extracting and retracting there were some people who thought it was a small micro phone I was wearing. I fell asleep wearing it many times, it never bothered me. If your anything like me and become attached to gadgets this one's a keeper that I use all the time and have never since been without.
