This is my favorite mascara (and I've been through many!). I've just purchased my second tube of this and loving the updated packaging. It doesn't smudge or have any fallout. It also makes my lashes look significantly thicker than they already are (I use a good lash serum which helps with the length) and gives volume, but without the clumping I seem to get with so many other drugstore and high-end brands. The texture is so amazing and soft/silky with a little shine. I can control the shine with your face powder, which I like very much. The powder lasts longer than the foundation. The colour I use is the exact colour I need. I am born in Scotland, and have that light porcelain colour skin. Bad to sit in the sun. The colour I purchase in almost any product is "porcelain". I have asian lashes. That means they are stick straight. They also do not hold a curl from an eyelash curler. I have tried all the Lancome waterproof mascaras. Hypnose waterproof and Lancome definicils waterproof are my favorites. I am not a fan of spider lashes. I prefer the look of long, volumized lashes without clumps. Both of these mascaras do that for me. They also HOLD the curl! I took one star off only because after a 12 hour work day, I do find a little bit on my lower eyelash line, but it really isn't a problem. This is a great mascara for anyone who wants long, separated and full eyelashes without clumpiness that will hold a curl!
I hate mascara. I've never found one I enjoy wearing that didn't either leave me looking like a raccoon by the end of the day, or just look unnatural - I;m not a fan of giant fake looking lashes. I typically tint my lashes to give them some pizzazz but decided to try this during the sale. I am in LOVE. The formula is smooth, goes on like a dream and wears beautifully. No running, no flakes, and just enough to wake my eyes up without looking overdone. I had several people comment on how beautiful my lashes looked and assumed it must have been tinting - nope! My only hesitation for future is the cost - it will pain me to spend nearly 40 dollars for a replacement tube. That's a worry for future me. for now, I am thrilled I decided to give this a try. Total game changer.
I used Lancôme mascara for at least 25yrs and then suddenly decided to switch. I tried Charlotte Tilbury, byTerry, Estée Lauder and Yves St Laurent. My first impressions of them all were wow, until maybe a couple of weeks in and I realised that none of them came close. Mascara is a subjective and personal choice I guess, but if you want a buildable mascara (and I do), then the Hypnose is untouchable. It builds without clog and stays in place no matter what, even through tears and training sessions; although I appreciate I’m not a person who sweats even when working out. Anyway, my own personal trial is complete I’ll be sticking with Lancôme for the next 25yrs. All being well!

It’s buildable, so you can apply 2-3 coats for additional volume or you can stick with a single coat for a natural look. I had high hopes for this after reading largely positive reviews. Given the premium price tag, I'm disappointed. I only wear waterproof mascara due to sensitive runny eyes, and can honestly say this one performs no better than high street /supermarket brands. It transfers under eyes throughout the day - despite blotting and setting my under eye concealer with loose powder. It flakes and looks messy by evening, but also doesn't go on smoothly. You have to scrape a lot off the wand first, and it's just a clumpy application - as though it's an old mascara. Not impressed and gutted I've wasted so much money on this product!
