They say good things come in small packages. The Laowa Nanomorphs really pack a punch with their cinematic lens flares, smooth oval bokeh, close focusing distance, and uniform 1.5x squeeze ratio. 2x squeeze is possible with Laowa's Front Anamorphic Adapter. The lenses are offered in three different flare packages. Blue for a more Sci-Fi edge, Amber for a romantic/vintage feel, and now Silver for neutral flares. PL models include an interchangeable EF mount kit. Additional mount kits for the mirrorless models can be purchased separately here but are not cross-compatible with the PL/EF Nanomorph lenses.

I am truly amazed by the images these lenses can produce for the price and size! If you are looking for lenses that don't look sterile and have some character to them without having to sell all your possessions to afford them, then these are absolutely the lenses for you!

Aperture marks came upside down.

I'm sure it was a manufacturer error, but I would like a discount/gift card or a change of lens. I use this in a rental house and I'm sure some clients are gonna have an issue with it eventually. Other than that, great lens.

In theory the Nanomorphs have a cool and light form factor and sound great; but:- on close-ups can get really weird distortion in the center of the frame esp when there is lines at different levels- there is always strong pin cushion distortion on the sidesA person in center frame with landscape far back looks ok.However, if you have objects close at the center with straight lines those get warped. Columns of buildings get warped looking "unreal." Window frames can become curved etc. Definitely not great for real estate or product shots etcRolling the camera also results in very strange/twisted images. The footage doesn't look like reality. Straight lines can become weirdly curved center frame. Uneasy. This is not normal type of distortion. Straight lines can become weirdly curved center frame. Uneasy. This is not normal type of distortion. It's unlike any other lenses we have seen... but in a really bad way. I guess there had to be made some trade-offs to achieve the low weight and small form factor.A lot of footage ends up in the trash. Fun while shooting but afterwards you regret using these lenses and are usually in for a bad surprise when reviewing the footage on a big monitor.Difficult to use for a professional shoot since as soon as the shot doesn't have the building far in the background but rather close (for example to the side), weird things happen. It might work for some shots but severely restrict the shots that work. The distortion made viewers feel like something was broken with the lenses.Sharpness is quite poor. And the anamorphic effect is not very strong. So you mostly just loose image quality. The lenses are very light especially with RF, but they may also make your camera feel a bit unbalanced when shooting handheld. A little heavier would have worked better for a RED Komodo or Canon R5.For anamorphic, get Atlas, Cooke or other professional anamorphic lenses instead. Much better investment.Or buy strong spherical lenses Sigma... easier to add character in post and cheaper too.Big disappointment.
