First, I've been wearing a Z1 for the past 6 years and it's been hands down, my favorite helmet. I've owned 4 of them in that time. Last December, I ended up buying a kinetiCore Vento because I couldn't find a Z1. Actually liked this helmet more than thought I would. I was thrilled to see the Z1 back in the Kineticore version and bought it. The helmet is great but because you went cheap on the straps, you ruined the helmet. Why did you not keep the adjustable straps? The bottom strap chokes me if I tip the helmet forward for relief, the side straps flutter. I don't see a way to adjust the straps. The Vento and previous Z1's, I could adjust the straps for a perfect fit. The new strapping system is something you see on cheap helmets. Great helmet but you ruined it ... MoreFirst, I've been wearing a Z1 for the past 6 years and it's been hands down, my favorite helmet. I've owned 4 of them in that time. I've had this helmet a month and only worn it 3 times. Unless the straps change, this is the last Z1 I purchase. Very disappointed.

This helmet is super light. I weighted the M I purchased at only 220g. It feels much less bulky than some other MIPS equipped helmets. However, it has two big downsides. First, it doesn't hold any of my sunglasses. You'll need to be a sunglasses-hanging-from-jersey person. Second, the side straps are not adjustable. These didn't come close to fitting me, they were super loose on the sides of my head, despite the bottom clasp correctly adjusted. These two downsides were definite deal-breakers for me.

I bought this helmet last month and am so happy that I did. The only thing that I would suggest to potential buyers is to be certain of the size you need to purchase. In my case I purchased a large. I based the sized on my previous helmet which recommended the same size dimensions as the one I purchased. Unfortunately for me, (I must be an in between head size) the large fits loosely on my head with it adjusted to the smallest size.

The helmet is extremely comfortable and well ventilated. It feels snug and secure without any pressure points. I've read that some people find the adjustment fussy, but I didn't have that issue, I found it very straightforward. Bonus points for the shape and style that doesn't make me look like a mushroom! Very happy with my purchase!
This is a good helmet, light weight which is key for me. I spend a lot of time in the mountains climbing and I hate having a 300+ gram helmet just pouring sweat on me. The one issue I have with it is my head measures 59cm which Lazer specifies as a large. I have the adjustment wheel moved all the way to the smallest setting and the helmet is still a little loose. So if you are borderline between a medium and large go with the medium size. The helmet vents really well but the front of the helmet is raised so it looks like there is an 1 1/2 to 2" between the top of your sunglasses and the helmet. It is a little strange so it would totally be a personal preference item
The new Z1 KinetiCore is a fantastic helmet. Fit is spot on for my head, the retention system is super easy to use, and the ventilation is amazing. Also, it’s the lightest helmet I own by a fair margin. That makes it the only choice for long gravel rides.Nice work, Lazer! Thank you!!
Because there are no more bricks and mortar stores to try on helmets, I ordered 7 on line and returned 6 of them. Kept the Z-1 because it fit the best and I also purchased the light for the back of the helmet which was great. Second best fit after the Smith but the Smith was a total booble mushroom head. Having said that, the MIPs system (both the G1 and Z1) is the worst of all I tried- Kask, Met, Limar. The top of the head controls, not good. The other MIPs systems with the little wheel on the back works much better. Fix it and I’ll buy it again. Even more streamlined would be a home run.
A $300 helmet without adjustable straps is not worth it to me. I've had Lazer helmets in the past (Z1 MIPS) and I loved them but this new iteration doesn't hold up. Felt cheap and didn't fit right. My old helmet saved me from som serious injury, I would not trust this helmet to do the same.
This helmet did not work for me and I returned. A medium should have fit, but was a bit tight. I am typically in between a medium and large, but if I go to a large it is difficult to get a comfortably secure fit. The adjustment of the strap that fits on the base of the skull was very difficult to adjust, and I could not get it into the lowest position. One of the pads was also crimped and did not stay in the correct position.
My first impressions, true to size, incredibly light and great fit. Overall its well ventilated and cool even on hot days. Love the aeroshell & light add ons and have used in the rain & at night. First Lazer helmet after being another brand user for years... really impressed with quality.
