I was looking to replace a tea kettle I've had for years - was frustrated from having to take the whistle out to pour water and use a hot pad because it was all metal. This seemed idea. It's pretty, it's study but the lid is really hard to remove and more frustrating than that - it keeps getting stains on the outside of the kettle. Brown spots and discoloration abound. I've been able to remove most, but not all, using a version of Barkeeper's Friend cleaner, but I basically have to scrub it very often. My last, much cheaper stainless kettle, never had a stain. I tried turning down the heat a bit, but still didn't help. I'm keeping it because I've been using it but for this brand and this price it should be pretty much flawless.

Beautiful whistle. The colour is not as expected.

We were excited to purchase our first le Creuset product. We chose the Classic Whistling Kettle in Cherry Red. While it is a really gorgeous looking kettle and has a lovely whistle, I was disappointed in the colour. Instead of being vibrant shades of cherry red (as it seems to show in the photo), in person it is really quite, well … orange. If I’d known that Cherry Red = more of a dark orange, I would have ordered the Agave colour instead. Also the spout doesn’t pour super well (lots of water on the counter if you pour too slowly). All said, however, it’s a jolly looking kettle and the sound is nostalgic. It’s also pretty clear that the product is well-made. It looks beautiful on the stove.

Very solid kettle and high quality enamel on carbon steel. Heats water quickly. Pours well. A reminder for all kettles: wait 10 seconds off the heat source before pouring to avoid splash ups off boiling water. Cannot give 5 stars because for me the lid is difficult to lift off and push in completely. Am hoping this issue will resolve itself with more use.

Claude

Bought in black to reflect the black chimney stack on our ivory Aga which looks so classic, and once home immediately named it Claude - with a french accent, of course. The whistle is somewhere between a purr and a wheezing wind blown through a recorder. Nothing shrill, but not exactly delightful! Ah well. It could be worse. Boils decently in 4/5 minutes or so on our Aga boiling plate. We have hard water in our area - lucky the shop assistant asked before we left - and we were advised not to leave water in it overnight and to give it a vinegar rinse to regularly to remove mineral deposits, ensuring Claude lives a long, happy life. The lid comes off with a gentle pull, but not dangerously easily, while still holding the handle when refilling. It felt less heavy than it's 2L big brother, and considering the weight of the water, glad we went with this one. I find it mechanically sound and sturdy, and pleasant to use and look at. It's somehow a work of art.

Dangerous. Could've been killed

Second day of use. Kettle was left on the stove by accident for less than ten minutes either with just a bit of water and the lid was open (because the lid design is stupid and it doesn?t have the trigger so it closes automatically) or there was no water but felt like there was water because of the heavy weight of the kettle. I went in to the kitchen and saw it had been left on. The inside of the kettle was bright red in that short amount of time. I picked it up to put water in it and bringing it over to the sink the bottom fell off into the sink and molten silver coloured metal explodes onto the hardwood floor leaving deep burn marks and filling the house with smoke. Luckily I was not burned by this. If I had been it would have burned to the bone and I likely could ... MoreSecond day of use. Luckily I was not burned by this. If I had been it would have burned to the bone and I likely could have died of shock. This could not have been aluminum because aluminum has too high of a melting point and I have seen aluminum cans burn in a hot fire all night and not lose shape. This would have to have been a cheaper lower melting point metal and this scam of a company has the nerve to charge 125$ for this dangerous piece of crap. By the way I contacted them to ask what kind of metals they use and they completely deflected the question and refused to answer. Save yourself 100$ and buy a higher quality stainless steel kettle.

I find that electric kettles don't outlast their guarantee for long so have been using stove top kettles for years on Agas, gas, ceramic and induction hobs. I've also had the enamelled version but found that it damages easily and that the inside enamel isn't very long lasting, presumably because you have to descale it.This kettle has no inside seam around the bottom so can't develop leaks and the stainless finish is completely resistant to descaler damage. The size is good for the average hob pan space. It does discolour a little if you overheat it, but so long as the whistle is pushed down this should not happen.I agree with another reviewer than the whistle seems a little flimsy, but it seems to last and is safe to open when the kettle is boiling.Personally I ... MoreI find that electric kettles don't outlast their guarantee for long so have been using stove top kettles for years on Agas, gas, ceramic and induction hobs. Recently I discovered a wonderful
9 May 2023

Recently I discovered a wonderful Canadian family Company that met all my buying needs. Consiglio’s Kitchenware has a large selection of products at very reasonable prices. I selected a Creuset kettle and it was shipped 3 hours after purchase. Not only was service very quick, but there were several notes of information and appreciation from the staff. The kettle arrived in 3 days in Calgary and my daughter loved the kettle. I certainly will continue to buy from Consiglio’s and I highly recommend them.

Regal and ez to clean
17 December 2022

Cover comes off and handle goes to side so inside is easy to clean. Love this beautiful pot! Water stays hot inside kettle for awhile, I bought the Oyster which matches most of my Le Creuset pots. The kettle looks so regal on my black stove which is where it will be kept. I?m enjoying the boiling water over the instant hot water spigot that I?ve used for the past 10 years. After using, I empty the pot and store with the inside dry which is what was suggested on the instructions that comes with it.

Why does a kettle this expensive drip all over????
15 October 2023

I was stoked for a tea kettle to match my other Le Creuset pieces to display in my kitchen. The kettle itself feels solidly made and looks cute on a stovetop, but its performance is quite disappointing. Water drips all over the counter when poured. What design flaw makes a tea kettle drip water all over when poured. Pouring cleanly should be a fundamental task. If I hadn’t bought this for essentially “free” with credit card points I’d return it and buy something that doesn’t drip.

shamefully bad design
2 December 2023

I love my Le Creuset pots, but this kettle is junk. The spout has a squared-off ring that makes it impossible to pour without dribbling. Within about 9-10 months of use, the base of the spout (where the spout is welded to the body) bloomed with corrosion. I junked it after about a year of dissatisfied use, which is especially pitiful considering I bought it to replace a basic Revere Were kettle I'd used for about 40 years. This item epitomizes the worst defects of brand marketing, where corporate types cynically ride brand reputation to sell junk.
