My old butter bell had cracked so very happy with my new red one! Absolutely best way of keeping butter perfect for spreading! The pioneers knew what they were doing

I refuse to use margarine and was very excited when I stumbled upon this product that would seemingly solve the spreadability issues of butter straight from the fridge. I see all the other rave reviews and can only say that my experience has been a little different. I live west of Brisbane in Queensland and we get some pretty hot days (mid 30s plus) in summer and if don't remember to put fresh cold water into the butter bell each morning (which is just one extra thing to do each busy morning), when I get home and lift the internal section from the container, I get a slop of melted butter sliding back into the water in the base. I live in an old house that gets very hot, and I leave the butter bell in the coolest part of the kitchen, but I have found that it is ... MoreI refuse to use margarine and was very excited when I stumbled upon this product that would seemingly solve the spreadability issues of butter straight from the fridge. I still like my butter bell but it is an extra thing I have to do every day when it's hot, and I am consoling myself with the convenience I'll have with spreadable butter when the weather cools down. Still, this product hasn't 100% delivered for me due to the extra effort required.

I love the taste of pure butter and I wanted a way to have it soft and spreadable without buying tubs with additives to do the job. This butter bell is fantastic. Just keep it somewhere cool, and set a reminder twice a week to change the water. Good sturdy quality. Definitely worth it if you like real butter.

I bought this, as I dislike trying to spread hard butter on soft bread. My primary hope was that this would allow the butter to soften enough to spread easily, while not letting the butter go bad prematurely.Ease of use: 4 (on scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best) - Do NOT wash in the dishwasher, as this seems to remove (or add?) a coating that makes the butter fall out of the vessel into the water. Otherwise, it's quite easy to get butter into the vessel and out and fill with water to appropriate mark. Further, it makes the butter portable to take to the table easily.Effectiveness: 2 - In the summer, the butter gets a bit too soft, and in winter, the butter stays too hard. In the shoulder months, the butter is just right. It could be argued I keep my house too cold or hot, but I'm not willing to change my thermostat just to make butter more appropriately spreadable. Further, unless I use the butter every day, I find it will get moldy before I use it up--maybe 5% of the time.Ultiimately, I generally keep this device in storage, finding myself only pulling it out a couple of times each year--usually when I'm craving toast and sandwiches, or have company and would like the butter to be convenient for them.
A butter bell is one of those unessential, quality of life-type items which you struggle to picture yourself being without once grown accustomed to it. Some companies that produce butter may not necessarily produce spreadable butter, which can be unfortunate especially if a particular butter product catches your fancy. A butter bell serves as a solution to that unfortunate fact, serving as a reliable and convenient storage that lets you keep whatever butter you wish spreadable. Be it for sandwiches, toast or even cooking, I welcome the simple utility of a butter bell to any kitchen.
I've never had a butter crock, before. I purchased a different brand from BB&B. I really liked having soft butter, for a change. Approximately 4 months later, part of the lid cracked off. I saw this one, by Le Crueset. I thought it looked very pretty, but the price was slightly higher than what I paid for the other. I thought, well, you probably get what you pay for. I'll give this name brand a try. Not only is it a beautiful glossy, Cherry color, which is an eye catcher, in my kitchen, it also is great at it's job. I love the beautiful finish, on the inside. I love the signature, 3-ring accent along the exterior. I love that it has the Le Crueset name across the front. I love that it has a little mark inside, showing you exactly where to fill it with water, to. It ... MoreI've never had a butter crock, before. I purchased a different brand from BB&B. Like I said before, you get what you pay for!!! Beauty, elegance and functionality.
Love this bell. Butter is always soft and fresh. Only wish it were larger as with two children, who live on sandwiches, I find myself constantly refilling it.
So excited to wrap this and give to my sister for Christmas. It is going to look great on her benchtop and the kids will no longer complain about butter that is too hard to spread because it's been in the fridge. Thank you for having this in the colour I want, for the great price it was and for the extremely fast delivery even this close to Christmas. You have made christmas shopping a pleasure. I will definitely be shopping here again.
I make my own butter, so if kept in the fridge, it is too hard to use strait away when you need it. Butter Bell is perfect to keep on the bench for immediate use. Besides it looks lovely on display paired with some other small French crockery.
This works really well keeping the butter cool but spreadable in the summer. I found that the butter was a bit hard in the winter but that is not surprising as it gets really icy where I live.It also looks great on my counter top and table.
