Delicious coffee in a beautiful carafe!

Yes, french press takes a few minutes longer than your everyday drip machine, but WOW, the resulting brew tastes better. Being a tea drinker as well, I'm used to boiling water and setting a timer for the perfect steep time, so french press was not a big adjustment for me. I've been really happy with the Le Creuset version since I purchased it several weeks ago on sale. It's beautiful (I got it in yellow...sunshine on my countertop!), easy to use, and cleans up like a dream. Be prepared to play around with the amount of coffee/duration of steeping, to get it just right for your taste. I always boil about 8 oz of extra water, to pre-heat the carafe for 60 sec before brewing. It takes very little time, but definitely keeps your coffee hotter, longer. I've also had success tying a thick tea towel around the carafe, to keep some warmth in. Order the smaller size if you'll mostly use the carafe for 1-2 servings at a time. The large size is good for 3-4 servings (and without the plunger/top, the large carafe doubles as a juice or water pitcher at mealtime!). Love this purchase. Will use this for years!

I bought this French press because Le Creuset is an amazing brand. Although it looks super nice, it doesn’t function well. Everytime I push down the top, hot water spills out and splashes and burns me. Which means you can barely fill thewater in the pot more than half way, which barely makes two cups of coffee. And grains of coffee always gets inside my coffee cup. And now the website is saying this item is unreturnable. Please don’t waste your money!

I have had my pot for a month now and I have found the complaints in some of the other reviews to be unfounded. I was even concerned enough to save the box in case I was going to be unhappy and want to return the pot. However, it works just as it should. I am guessing that the complaints about granular coffee and it overflowing are due to not reading the instructions on how much coffee to use, letting it steep for 3-4 minutes before plunging, and overfilling the water to the brim. The online tutorial also specifically says not to use boiling water. Also, all Le Creuset and other ceramic/stoneware have the potential to chip if handled roughly or banged against other items. If this is burdensome for anyone I suggest going with a traditional glass press that can go in ... MoreI have had my pot for a month now and I have found the complaints in some of the other reviews to be unfounded. Hope this feedback is helpful for anyone on the fence based on some of the reviews.

Filter screen doesn't last long
5 April 2023

I bought one of this about a year ago and the filter screen started to show problems lately , not filtering all the coffee grains. I tried to find something compatible to replace it since Le Creuset unfortunatelly doesnt sell filters separately (they really should)And off course the filter isn't a good match and filters as much as the old yanky filter from le creuset. So my french press is useless after one year having it. I guess I'll have to keep shopping around for filters but I'd appreciate if le creuset would sell me a couple screen filters.

Leaks more coffee on table than in mug
1 October 2022

Bought this as a gift for my coffee obsessed husband and to match our other mugs in black satin.Aesthetically it's lovely and a great size for one large mug of coffee.Unfortunately it leaks so much you are unlikely to get more than half a cup of coffee in the mug. It ends up all over the counter top despite trying to pour at every possible combination of angles.Such a shame, will be looking to contact JL customer services for a return as it's not fit for purpose and more expensive than more practical options

Looks nice - but not as expected
17 November 2022

Love the look, but keeping grinds out of your cup is very difficult. I have tried many grind settings, poured the exact amount of water so water level stays well beyond spout. I have let it sit for greater time than suggested and I still get grinds in my cup. Plus the temperature drops drastically and cannot get a hot cup of coffee. Not a fan

Love it! Recommend buying this
30 November 2022

I bought this as a present for my husband after we went through 2 glass French presses which eventually cracked. This adds to our small Le Creuset collection but is a very welcome addition. We use this on a daily basis and it washes well by hand or dishwasher. As some other reviewers have mentioned the ceramic helps keep the coffee warmer for longer which is an added bonus. This more robust design is well worth the cost for us. Highly recommend getting this to anyone who's considering a purchase.

Not really the quality we expected.
13 February 2023

Overall disappointing. Used to high quality of Le Creuset, but the French press is not worth the money at all. Payed alot of money for a nice looking item, but poor function. Retains heat very poorly, and frequently results in grounds escaping into the coffee. The coffee and grounds can even splash out while pressing due to poor lid design. Avoid this item unless you are looking for a purely decorative piece.

Perfect for coffee and tea
22 August 2022

I have had my LeCreuset Stoneware French Press for 4 years and still love it. I bought a replacement mesh filter so I can use one for coffee and one for tea. I can make a couple of cups of coffee or loose leaf tea or a whole carafe of tea to make iced tea.I hand wash and put my French Press in the dishwasher, and it still looks brand new. i’m so glad I purchased it. It gets so much use in my kitchen.

Problems with small French Press
22 June 2020

My wife and I got the small version of the French Press as a wedding gift. Aesthetically, it's gorgeous, like all of Le Creuset's stuff. The yellow looks wonderful in our kitchen. In theory, this was a perfect gift for me. I love coffee, but can't drink much of it; this should be the size of one big cup. Unfortunately, the attractiveness of the design sacrifices functionality. The lip is too shallow, and as a result, at least 50% of the time, about 1/3 of the coffee in the French Press blurps down the side as you pour, spilling everywhere. Seemingly the only way to prevent this from happening every time is to press down on the lid with so much force that you're worried you're about to break the thing; even then, it still spills half the time.
