The knife has good heft and holds a serious edge. The finish is top notch. I do highly recommend this knife to anyone who appreciates quality and value. At first, it seemed expensive to me, but after owning it and using it on a daily basis, I now appreciate the value and I'm proud to own it.

10 years ago I bought Waves for my shop. In use by my technicians everyday. 5 years ago, I bought Surges for the guys. Major upgrade. Used every day. Broke one, leather man replaced it with the improved Surge. Last week I gifted my crew with new Surges and a Free (for the guy with the replacement Surge). To a man, we feel less dressed without our Leathermans than if we didn’t pull on our... well, you understand what we’re saying.

I bought this to take backcountry camping. I wanted something with a good blade length and found this to be adequate for most tasks. It's a little bulky because of the multitool, but it's not too bad. Blade comes out easily and smoothly, and the locking mechanism works nicely. The green isn't quite as vibrant as I thought it would be, but it's still nice. Didn't get a chance to use any of the tools aside from the knife. Did find them a little hard to open when just testing them out, but suspect it'll loosen up over time.

Pros:- easy to clean,- hefty-enough blade to use in most situations,- simple design.Cons:- handle not comfortable for extended use,- blade the slightest bit too large for detailed work (like slicing food).Overall impression:A good knife to have on hand that can be used in almost any situation. Would've preferred the blade be 0.5" shorter and 0.25" less wide, but that's mostly because I wanted to use it as a camp culinary tool.
What a great pocket knife. The size and build are well done on this Leatherman, as all their products. The knife has some additional tools incorporated like screwdriver heads (flat & Philips) AND a great box cutter/package opener. The action of the tools are smooth. Now the only con and it's really small, is the knife blade could be made of better steel, but I'm being overly picky as I have some pretty nice knives at home. But, it's not to say the blade on the K2 is bad, it just falls within the price point for all you get here. This knife will still slice paper and whittle wood pretty easily, so most people I think will really like it's performance. I throw the K2 in my back pack on a hike, or mountain bike ride as it isn't terribly heavy. Recommended. As always, ... MoreWhat a great pocket knife. Amazing knife and perfect for what I needed it for. I wanted a camping leatherman but didn't want the small blade. This gives me everything I need. Feels nice in hand.My only downside at the minute is that the tab to push the extra tools out is really quite stiff and I struggle to get them out. I am going to try loosen the screws to see if that helps. Top notch from Leatherman as always though
The blade tip shattered after-MAYBE the third use, it may have been a defect or something, but it is still factory razor sharp, and I was opening a bag against the cutting board (bamboo)-in my kitchen-and the tip of the blade caught against the wood and on inspection the fracture ran about 3/16" from the tip of the blade and out to the tip.Hanging on by a thread, i noticed while inspecting it then just crumbled out. Multiple tiny little pieces. Have not attempted a swap, or resolution with REI yet. I don't know if I can.
For those who don’t want to carry a knife and a multitool, this is the perfect middle ground. Yes doesn’t have the pliers, but what is has will help you in a pinch. Only gripe is I wish Leatherman would upgrade the steel on the knife blade, maybe 154CM or even S30V. Otherwise happy with the purchase!
I watched a lot of reviews of the K2/K4 Free before purchasing. Several reviewers suggested it was too large for an every day carry, but I've found it is comfortable. The form factor feels great, the build quality is exceptional. I chose this version because I didn't want/need the scissors, and I preferred the straight blade over the serrated version.Very happy with the purchase. No issues so far.
A great addition to your pocket for everyday needs. Perfect companion for hikes/camping the additional tools are a great addition for everyday situations.Super solid construction, feels great in the hand.A good quality piece of hardware.
