When I first saw this kit, I was very excited. I have the small version Lego put out a few years ago and it's great. When I realized that it was the new addition to the Winter Village, I didn't think it would fit but decided to give it a chance. That's about it.The gingerbread people are cute, but if Lego can design a 3D bottle that they can hold, why is the baby printed on a 1x2 flat brick? For the money, we should have gotten more than 2 mini-figs and a printed brick baby.The extra builds: The snowblower is pretty cool. Thumbs up for that. The rest? Oversized: the carriage and rocking horse are huge and considering the baby is a flat brick and can't use the horse, why was it put in there? The presents are random and very pastel colored. This is a gingerbread house with a Christmas tree, yet the presents are light blue and pink and have a pretzel. Makes no sense at all.Finally, the colors. If this is part of the Winter Village, why is the brown the wrong color? The other buildings all use a reddish brown. This one is solid brown. It looks ok (will try to attach pictures) next to the fire station, but does stand out. Also, while I like the pink and purple sparkly bricks for the stained glass by themselves, they don't go at all! Totally the wrong colors. Green and red would have at least tied it into the other buildings better AND better in the actual kit itself.Pros: I do like the gingerbread people. The female has pink frosting in her head, the man blue. I like that they used the lighted brick in the fireplace (though, I had to readjust the final pieces because the hole is too small to actually press the smoke down far enough to trigger the light) and it's a clever use of how to turn the light on.Overall, this was a great idea in concept, but very disappointing in real life. I almost would rather have bought this as a separate piece on its own and have a second one to buy that actually fit into the Winter Village concept.

After buying a lot of Lego for my kids and husband, this was my first purchase for myself. I thought it would be fun to build with my kids (ages 4 to 6yrs old), and it was! My most "active" helper was one of the 4yr olds, who managed to do a lot of it with my guidance/assistance. My other 4 yr old has had a ton of fun playing with the set.I've noticed some others have commented that the roof and left wall aren't very secure. We have not had this problem. The whole building seems quite firm and has easily stood up to my 4 year olds carefully playing with it. In fact, I can gently lift the whole house by holding under the roof.There is one section that I've had problems with and that is the light up brick in the fireplace. Where as the train station was somewhat meager, it still had some atmosphere to it. Hello everyone.I am not sure why this cute and festive set gets such low marks from reviewers on the roof sections. These must be people who are inexperienced builders or first time builders because I had zero (0) issues with assembling the roof tiles and sections. They are sturdy and well thought out.This set was cute and enjoyable and became our first "holiday" decoration in the house.I could see making this set into a larger 2,400+ piece Creator Expert set. It was that fun!These same people that had "issues" with the roof sections must also had the phantom issue with the Creator Expert Treehouse is step #123. Bought as a present for ourselves, not disappointed at all and would definitely recommend to anyone. Adds to the spirit and build up to Christmas festivity's.Built with my daughter (in her early 20's) and we both thoroughly enjoyed the build, not overly complicated or tricky, didn't take that long to build, but more importantly, wasn't built in an hour, so you feel like you've got your monies worth.Comes in separate numbered bags and easy to follow instructions, we methodically serrated out the bag to we were using into similar components and this helped, as some are small and you can end up spending 5 minutes looking for it... only a few stickers to attach for anyone not liking this. I was looking for something to amuse me during the pandemic and remembered all the fun I had as a kid building these sets. I thought the gingerbread house seemed a good idea as I could pull it out at Christmas without feeling guilt over the price tag and I’m sure I’ll still enjoy doing this if it stays together.My first disappointment came when after spending all that money on the product it was missing 2 bricks and all of the stickers (better quality control needed) I managed to make do with using some other colour bricks but have now emailed 3 times for the stickers without hearing back or receiving them. This would be incredibly frustrating if it was stopping me from finishing the build!My other gripe is how unstable this build is. The cooker hood barely stays attached, whilst the main section of roof have these sturdier connectors the roofs over the doors do not have these and I’ve managed to knock the roof off multiple times and due to the fiddly nature of how it connects it usually means dismantling part of the build to reconnect the roof and then there’s just general inability to move this item without something falling off so be prepared to dust around it.All in all it’s a lovely looking set but I wouldn’t recommend it and I won’t be purchasing anything else.
Seems like someone was challenged with trying to make a building using mostly tiny pieces. Yes the piece count is normal for the Christmas village - BUT there are TONS of tiny pieces and LOTS of little pieces made into bigger pieces - more than normal. The building itself is not for play (after you fight and fight and fight to get the roof pieces on) it is too tiny to do anything in the interior. The walls need to be higher 4-6 strips, the floors wider and longer about 6-8 strips. The inside pieces are just squashed together and then the roof is right on top of everything. I will look in detail at next years before buying - as if it's this tiny again, I'll be sad to stop but don't want to fight to build nor see the cheapening out from Lego by making things super ... MoreSeems like someone was challenged with trying to make a building using mostly tiny pieces. Shame on Lego - charge a bit more and make it right. The chair looks like it's for a giant's house compared to the building!! (the gingerbread man does fit in it) Not like the Santa chair in another one - that chair is size appropriate for the room/building.
I built this a year ago and, setting it up along with my other Winter Village sets, felt impressed to share my feelings. This is a worthy rival to Santa's Workshop for the title of cutest, quirkiest Lego set ever. It is just so beautiful and delightful. I particularly love the frosting and lollies on the roof, the coloured frosted windows, the candy-cone window and door frames. The light brick is activated by pressing the smoke in the chimney, so clever! Mrs. Gingerbread Man is a gas with her pink icing, such a clever touch, one of many, many in this highly imaginative set.(all I need now is a witch and have Hansel and Gretel!)
I enjoyed building and felt it was well designed. There are some things in this set that are better than other Winter Village in the past and it looks cute sitting out at the holiday time.It is a bit hard to fit into the existing Winter Village collection, but I think of them as the artistic funky neighbors to the blue "ski lodge" house and the Gingerbread family is just another neighbor in the village. At first I thought I would place it in my "winter fair" area with the carousel and the food booths where I have a big tree and ice rink but then when I built the set I saw they are just a regular family so I will put them in the residential area.I agree with other reviewers that the baby as a tile instead of a micro fig is silly considering we have seen a baby ... MoreI enjoyed building and felt it was well designed. Much better than some of the earlier Winter Village roofs. The tolerances are tight but when you get them in place they are very satisfying.I also feel like the design on the light brick is much better than some in the past that were more awkward to operate.My child thinks there needs to be a ladder to get to the loft but I think the house is just cut in half and we can't see the stairs.
