Let me open this review by saying I'm extremely grateful that all of the patterned elements are printed, as not only do I despise applying stickers but also think they have less durability in the long run. (Should be standard in this price range anyway but I'm pleased nonetheless.) The build itself is as clever as I've come to expect from Mike Psiaki, chock-full of ingenious ideas and elegant solutions to problems I didn't even know existed. The functional steering and that two separate models can be made out of it is a boon (although I combined parts of both into a standard 911) and in line with the customizability of the Mustang - also from the same creator - but unlike in the aforementioned set a partial disassembly / rearrangement of the pieces is required to ... MoreLet me open this review by saying I'm extremely grateful that all of the patterned elements are printed, as not only do I despise applying stickers but also think they have less durability in the long run. The choice of color may not be as striking as some of its other brethren's but it certainly suits the car well and it's quite unique among them to stand out. All in all I'm really happy with this purchase and albeit it did not de-throne the Mustang as my favorite LEGO vehicle it came very close. I sincerely hope LEGO will keep producing more of these awesome, highly detailed models as they are a joy to construct and so far all I bought (which is most of them) has hit the mark.

Starting with the good, it's a great looking set that's fun to build with no tedious sections. Do recommend! For the complaints, parts of the set are very fragile; it's a display model but the parts that are supposed to be functional like the engine cover tend to fall apart. It also would have been nice for a couple extra parts to have been included to allow more 911 variations to be built. In my opinion the set is at its best when built as a standard 911; the solid roof from the Turbo and everything else from the Targa. This build is missing just 4 pieces to be perfect, fortunately I made it work by using some black vents instead of flat white pieces. Building the opposite (Turbo with Targa roof) is impossible without buying individual pieces. The construction of the front axle and wheel arch allows the fender to be close around the wheel, which can turn without touching it. Nice! There are two features which I noticed and want to mension. I don’t know if they were intended or are just byeffect of a technical solution.1. Doors lightly scrub in the certain possition when they being closed, this feels just like when close the lock on the real car.2. Rear hatch, when pushed a little from its open position, it has the right friction to slowly close itself by its own weight, and then when it is pressed towards the car, it cliks like it locks. The overal look of the car is simply stunning. The angles of the front lights, flowing stern, bumpers, rear spoiler, the silhouette of the car is just perfect. The bricks are printed, no stickers, which just underlines the clean look of the model.I don't know what to rebuke. It is so great that I would like to have three of them so I can build the turbo, targa and the turbo targa and put them along side.Great work!Maybe ... it should be available in black as well...

Master Class of Building Technique

I received this as a gift from a close relative who knew my LEGO habits just as well as I do. This set is phenomenal, the photos on this website do not do it justice. Admiring the finished product in person creates pride and awe. You will marvel at the artistry of the building techniques. The shapes and features fit perfectly into place and there are virtually no gaps and minimal studs on the outside. Seriously, MOC builders should be taking notes, as Mike Psiaki is an amazing designer. There are ZERO stickers on the set, meaning that this building experience is 100% putting bricks together. I currently have only built the turbo, but have plans to build the targa in the future. Most beautiful LEGO 911 so far

This set is the most realistic looking 911 so far! Immediately recognized as 70s/80s model. I built it with my son of 10 yrs, it was a fun and not too complicated experience, but that didn't take away the fun IMHO.Has several interesting building techniques: notably the back fenders connections, chair tilt system and the basis for the back pillars around the back bench, that eventually leads to that beautiful flowing line from the roof to the back of the car.A few small critique points:1. Black background in the building instructions: need to look twice to find the highlighted bricks in the next building step.2. With a few (maybe 5 to 10) extra bricks this would have been a 4-in-1 set: build the 911 SC base coupe or the very rare 911 Turbo Targa! Another masterpiece by Mike Psiaki. Such great building techniques and math it just blows my mind. The end result is just stunning. If it would come in different colors I would have bought two, one for each model but I feel its too much white on my shelve and its fun changing from one model to another and not a hard task at all. Now owning the set my favorite by far is the Turbo model met a Targa top and spoiler. But you miss 4 pieces (the macaroni plates and tiles) to achieve this. A missed chance if you ask me. And if you would add 2 more pieces (the 2 inverted 1x2 brackets) you could build a few more variations. I got the pieces of bricklink, along with some caterham printed disk brakes (which also could have been included if you ask me) and couldn't be happier. ... MoreAnother masterpiece by Mike Psiaki. Phenomenal Set!

Since this was my first Creator Expert set, I made sure to take my time and enjoy the build. I ended up spending a couple of hours a day over a week building it. I was constantly impressed by the design and the building techniques used to achieve the classic 911 look. I love how this not-so-little LEGO Porsche is packed with so many little details in both the interior and exterior that can be interacted with. I opted to build the Turbo first since I like the look of the black wheels and flared rear wheel wells. I'll definitely return to the set *down the road* to build the Targa.Huge props to designer Mike Psiaki - he did a phenomenal job designing this set and I'm looking forward to see what he comes out with next! This was a 5/5 set for me. My only gripe, as others have mentioned, is the manufacture packaging for the window pieces. The windshield is packaged with the rear window which resulted in a scratch across the middle of the windshield piece. I'll reach out to LEGO customer service and hopefully get a replacement piece.

Nice set that allows you to build as a Targa or Turbo model, however there's another better build option. I built mine as a Targa with the Turbo body ... much nicer! Sad that the building instructions weren't available to download as I prefer viewing the instructions on my iPad. i bought this product for my grandson, who instantly got it out and built it. he decided to combine the two options, the turbo and the targa, by making the rear axle, roof, and roll bar of the targa, and the spoiler and engine of the turbo. he did have to get some pieces from other sets to finish this combination. lego did an amazing job with this set, including front seats that tilt forward to allow access to the back, the amazing engine of the turbo, and front wheels that can be controlled using the steering wheel. the one thing my grandson didn't like was that the order in which some plates are added is a little bit odd, like how some of the last steps are adding the pieces under the rear wheels, and that the instructions occasionally didn't say to add a piece, ... Morei bought this product for my grandson, who instantly got it out and built it. he decided to combine the two options, the turbo and the targa, by making the rear axle, roof, and roll bar of the targa, and the spoiler and engine of the turbo. he did have to get some pieces from other sets to finish this combination. lego did an amazing job with this set, including front seats that tilt forward to allow access to the back, the amazing engine of the turbo, and front wheels that can be controlled using the steering wheel. the one thing my grandson didn't like was that the order in which some plates are added is a little bit odd, like how some of the last steps are adding the pieces under the rear wheels, and that the instructions occasionally didn't say to add a piece, but in the next step the piece appeared there on the instructions. otherwise, this set is perfect. my grandson and i both like how the instructions tell you little facts about the porsche 911, and how you can build the turbo, the targa, or a mix. my grandson gives this a 10/10, and after seeing it, i can see why. this is an iconic car that lego has brought back beautifully.
