LEGO 10335 The Endurance

I have been waiting a very long time for a building experience as satisfying as this. I'm a fan of LEGO ships and was more excited to build Endurance than I was to build Titanic (which is fabulous). I was in tears when the wreck of the Endurance was located well-preserved at the bottom of the Weddell Sea. When rumors began to circulate online a year ago about the Endurance kit I didn't want to get too emotionally invested in case they proved false. The reveal of the kit and the kit itself far exceed expectations with the sails, triple expansion steam engine and too many wonderful little details to list. I'm simply over the Moon to have this build opportunity and to honor one of the greatest stories of human leadership and survival in the modern era.

Still have not built the set. Looking forward to it. Was a little disappointed that I did not receive the life boat that was used to bring back help. It was advertised as a give away if unit ordered on the 29th. I assumed they ran out. On the following Monday, it appeared they were still available as the lifeboat still showed as an incentive to buy. Instead I got a retro record player, which looks pretty cool and a Christmas Train, which the grandkids should enjoy. Still a lifelong fan, but could not figure out a way to contact Lego to see if the life boat could be switched out for the other giveaways. Happy Building!

This was a good, fun build. The hull feels a little odd shaped but as it's black the final result still looks good.A few of the joins are a bit weaker than you'd expect.My only real niggle with the set was the ladders. The main roping twists and turns as you put them together and it's really pure luck if you end up with something that looks like a ladder or a DNA spiral structure. Also the fixing points for the ladders in the centre came off all the time I was working the sails.I found putting the masts together not much fun either. Make sure to count and double count how many sections you need to add, I'd missed a couple that become obvious when the sails went on. I certainly won't be deconstructing the masts when I disassemble the model later on.Generally ... MoreThis was a good, fun build.
