This was so much fun to build! We love reading the history and seeing the interior elements as we put it all together. Then the outside features were stunning, too! My favorite Lego set so far. Itās the perfect size and we canāt stop staring at it. Iāve been to Notre Dame twice, so this is a nice memento. And now because of this set, my husband really wants to go see it! Itās extra meaningful after the fire, too. Lego, make more like this! We think the Biltmore would be AMAZING!

A really interesting and involved build. Lots of intricate parts to reflect on the real buildingās actual features. Care needs to be taken not to drop any of the stained window features from the top level inside the cathedral as they are not easy to get out from between the internal columns š. I liked the commentary in the booklet which provided a bit of the history of the construction process over the centuries. The finished kit looks fantastic, although not as big as I first anticipated.

Two things:1. This thing is basically a masterpiece. It's amazing how much detail they packed into such a small footprint, and with the "limitations" of the Lego format. And even though you're making a dozen or so small constructions (the repeated windows and columns and pillars and etc.) several times throughout the build, of you build them all at once and then apply them to the build, it's so satisfying to watch it looking one way before, and then completely different after.2. They could have marked this at $300. Legit. The amount of plastic you get, the amount of design that event into this, and the finished product... $230 is a STEAL.I CAN'T recommend this enough. Is just beautiful.
My biggest hang up with recent Lego purchases have been the stickers. Spending hundreds of dollars to have. Set marred by a poorly centered sticker. Iām an old man with poor vision and thick, Lego scarred thumbs. I would rather swim the Nile covered cabbage leaves, fending off hungry hippos than place stickers on a lego piece. Gratefully, no stickers. Now if we could do something about all the plastic bags! This set had way too many. Bags inside of bags. Why? As for the set, details were great. This is my first architecture kit build and I chose it because of the beauty of the real building, the history, and for all the detail inside and out. This model is constructed in four stages that accurately and historically mimic the original construction of Notre Dame.This model is satisfyingly challenging yet very doable even with my fat fumbling fingers.I really enjoyed the build, it was well worth the price, and the finished cathedral presents very well in my small but growing collection.I definitely recommend this model to anybody who enjoys building anything with Legos, especially if youāre into history or architecture.
This is incredible! Every little detail comes to life in this build. The LEGO building process follows the actual historical build process and thereās little details in the instructions that gives an insight into this amazing building and history. The finished set will not blow you away by itās size (eg. it is not minifig scale so it will look weird in a city layout) but the detail is impressive!If anyone whinges about ārepetitive building stepsā then LEGO probably isnāt for you.
The Notre Dame Cathedral is an amazing set! The amount of detail in it is incredible, and the price is very resonable considering that it has 4400 pieces. I have been collecting lego sets all my life, and I would say that this set is one of my favorites. You build it in the way that Notre Dame would have been built, and that makes it super interesting. The build is repetitive, but nowhere near the repetitiveness of the Eiffel Tower or Colloseum. This set is very unique because you build the inside as well as the outside, and usally the inside is uglly to make the outside look good. I would highly recomend this set to anyone who has an interest in architecture or someone who wants a fairly large set for a great price. I would definitly buy more lego sets like this.
Candles, ingots, dragon teeth, and magic wands. I love repurposing. I opened up one side to display the interior. I am using it to demonstrate how our 1/40 scale LEGO model of the Washington National Cathedral could have an open cutaway on one side. It shows off the interior details. Now to modify Notre Dame to resemble our Washington cathedral. Think of ND as a starting kit for your local gothic edifice!
I'm only mid-way through building this, but it's a wonderful build, and will clearly make a great display piece (I've already cleared a place for it in my living room). For the scale, it still has lots of interesting details, and a range of building techniques. And, the designers thought about how a builder would react to the inevitable repetitive bits, and have spread them out with different techniques and details. AND - I love that the build is done in the same order as Notre Dame was erected historically; that's a great educational point of interest. Altogether, very well done, Lego Group!
