An engaging build and a good display technic set.

This on the other hand is cleverly designed, engaging to build, I meandered along over several days and timed it as a total of 5 and a half hours, and looks great finished. For once I aced the stickers and they do add to the looks substantially. The moving exposed engine pistons, doors and steering (though the actual turning curcle is not to scale) make this a good display item. Other recent Technic sets I have enjoyed are also in the sub $100 category, the Rescue Hovercraft, the Digger and the Ducati motorbike. If you like cars you should enjoy this set and it's well priced.

Not only is this a form of entertainment on piecing everything together, but it is educational as well. You have to follow the diagrams, which are a form of drawings, sort of speak, so this would hopefully, be beneficial in later years. Once everything is assembled, and each sticker is adorned, it does look good. It also gives you the sense of achievement, that you've completed something from scratch. There could be even more satisfaction if father and son/daughter get involved together, almost like team bonding.

Excellent build & attention to detail.

I step away from legos when I finish Highschool, and growing up I was always intrigued by Lego Technic builds but never owned one. This was my first ever technic build & the nostalgic memories and excitement of building legos came right back, like it never left. The Senna is an excellent purchase especially for starters who have patience, some tricky parts but nothing that you can’t overcome. This build is worth every penny, I really enjoyed my time building it. I know I could’ve finish it in like a day or so, but I savored every moment, just put some music on an rock out. To make it even easier for it being my first technic build, I just did bag number by bag number instead of dumping everything out the bag. I will be purchasing the 911 as well,so I suggest that you do the same. Thank you Lego, the Senna is a must have!!.

Great little car for big dreamers

My boys are always talking about fast sports cars and debating which ones are the fastest or most expensive, so I hear about the McLaren a lot. This was the ideal Christmas gift for them because they were able to build and marvel over a version of it. They immediately opened the package and shorted pieces into zippered bags so they could take their time and work on it methodically. I did provide a little help with some of finding the right pieces but overall the instructions were clear and it was not too difficult. I think it’s a great brain exercise in attention to detail, following visual instructions, and completing tasks. It does have a ton of pieces so it is what I would consider a more advanced project than most they have done in the past but that did provide them with hours of occupation. I like that the instructions book is very large and breaks down each step into just a few pieces per page so it was easy to follow and flipping through you see how simple it is to get from start to finish. There are even realistic photos at the end that show it fully built and what the real thing looks like. This will look great on their display shelf and will also remind them of the fond memories of us working together on it. High quality just as you would expect from the brand.

Great value, beautiful end product, pieces bad fit
9 February 2021

My seven year old son has been very excited about this set. He's able to complete the Architect series with 95% independence. He probably would not have needed so much of my help if the pieces fit well together. Many of the tube connector pieces were too fat to fit into the holes! we had to clamp them so they would fit. it made it difficult for my son to complete the set on his own, and even adults could not fit the connectors into the holes without clamping the connector tubes. Maybe the pieces expanded? I'm not sure what was wrong but I've never had a problem with Legos.Finished product was beautiful and the price was definitely worth it!

Highly impressive set!
11 January 2021

My 12 yr old has just put this amazing LEGO Technic McLaren Senna GTR together. The finished product looks exactly like it shows on the box and in the website! It's larger than we expected which was a pleasant surprise! This car is just slick looking and very detailed. Perhaps the feature that sets it apart from other sets is the pistons that move up and down as the car drives! Also the wheels can turn aided with the use of a knob of top of the car. The instructions were clear and precise. There was minor confusion putting it together, as there were multiple bags labeled for each of the steps. But he was able to figure it out easily. Overall it took about one and a half to two hours to build. He was blown away with the finish product! Absolutely recommend this!

Make sure you have a few hours
7 January 2021

I got this for my eleven year old son who wanted to try out building model cars. He definitely needed some help. It took us hours to get through half. But the directions are clear and very informative. The car is large and looks amazing when complete. All the inside motor parts move with the car and I’m just extremely impressed with the overall outcome of the whole thing. It was definitely a little tiring and a lot of parts. I recommend only opening the parts for the section you are on because there are so many it can get confusing. My son is very excited and it now sits proudly on his shelf.

First off, I am so disappointed that Lego didn't go with this model for the 1:8 Scale Technic release. So many cool features like steering the McLaren toy car using the wheel on top. He did mention a few times that the build was hurting his fingers a bit, but said, "it's worth it"!This 830 piece set would be a great gift for any motorsport, supercar, or Lego building fan.We added a few more shelves above the Lego crafting table to display this completed remarkable car. The finished model measures over 3 in. (9 cm) high, 12 in. (32 cm) long and 4 in. (12 cm) wide. This collectible McLaren toy car features eye-catching graphics and colors. I recommend it for any Lego fans, aged 10 and up, who are ready for a new challenge in advanced building toys.

The car has good colors, there are some things I don't like tho. The lights seem to far back, and barely visible to the point where you would think, what's the point of even putting them there. This wasn't the most annoying part. Trying to connect the windshield at the front with those two plugs to the connects was obnoxious and frustrating. Last thing I would mention that as far as the rear. It looks a little chunky at the back and boxy. I personally would of been interested to see what it was like with out the back bottom arrow like fins on the back sides. Overall, it's still a good set. Just not really any features beside the turning and the pistons moving.
