I originally bought this set from the LEGO store but saw that it was a lot cheaper in Walmart so I purchased from here and returned the other one. My son already had the Mario set and really wanted the Luigi set. Its a really interesting set, you build the obstacle course for the characters and they go collect their points since they are electronic and know what surface they are standing on. Some of the Lego pieces have barcodes on them and the characters scan those when they stand on top and make Mario game sounds. The characters need AAA batteries so make sure you get some.

This is very cute. I wish that you could have an un time limited version of run through play mode. Also other than showing how to put together sets the app doesn’t really do anything. The mansion (if you get all the Luigi sets) itself could also be bigger/ more complete with multiple levels or at least a full front facade of the house. But the music and characters are cool. I wish jakks and play mobile would also make Luigi Mansion toys

Purchased the Super Mario Starter Course initially for Christmas for 11 yr. grandson. He loved it & spent hours playing Super Mario. I was so impressed with the set because of the combined construction & interactive play, that we returned to Scheels & purchased the Luigi Starter Course. An app is needed.

Loads of fun! We have the Super Mario set also and when he falls down, the Luigi in this set will sense it and say, "Are you ok?" Too cool! My 12 year old son is proud after building the set wanting to show us parents the amazing end result! This interactive Lego with lights, sounds, and moveable parts to play are a big hit! So awesome! He's enjoying this set now, but if he looks like he's ready for more, we'll be giving him another new set as rewards from doing well in school, Easter gift, etc. We actually bought other sets from this site already and plan to get more when the time is right. So grateful for Walmart's excellent items and services!
I really don't know how the Lego Mario and Luigi sets got greenlighted. This is the second character in the Lego Mario series we've bought after the original Lego Mario stopped correctly reading the block codes. We had a difficult time getting the original Lego Mario figure to correctly update and become playable, and the progress with this Lego Luigi is even worse. Twice we've tried to activate him by connecting through bluetooth to our Lego Mario phone apps, and while the apps indicate the figure is ready to play with, the figure itself never leaves the bluetooth pairing mode. I don't know what to tell my 6yo son, but I don't see the point in keeping this toy if it never does what it's intended to do.
Do not buy. I bought Thai for my five year old son as a Christmas gift and yesterday upon attempting to connect to the app through Bluetooth, a message appeared stating Luigi needed to be updated. Immediately following the “update” luigi looked sick and is now non functional and comatose. Just at the moment the return window has closed. Not okay. Mt poor son who truly loves luigi and has been looking forward to playing with this.
It is awesome to have Luigi toy that responds to different colors, barcodes and actions, just like the Nintendo game. We also have the Mario starter set so we can pair Mario and Luigi to play the course together. We are cool with having instructions on the app as the set does not come with paper instructions. The only downside is there is no real rules and is totally free play. Great for adults to reminisce the Nintendo game but it did not engage my 4 year old boy for long.
This is adorable! Same as the Mario set, but Luigi says different phrases and the sounds he makes are somewhat different. Works with all other sets. Super easy to get going too. Add batteries to Luigi and download the app. Whole thing took 10 minutes. My son loves this entire line and we have MANY Lego sets in our home. This one is really cute, if slightly expensive for what it is. Totally worth it for me!
We love the Lego Luigi Starter Course! Once you download the app (which is a fairly easy step by step process) you’ll have to wait for you character to upload before you can get started. Once that’s done you can create your first obstacle to play! We added this to our current Mario set for 2 player fun. The Warp pipes are also a different color then the Mario set which my 7 yr old liked. The belly screen reminded me a little bit of the old school digital pets with the tiny screen in the center. Mario’s screen will display different stuff like coins or even Zzzzz’s if they fall asleep. Super cute & fun!
I don’t really love the look of the characters because they’re super body and the whole thing is pretty pointless. There’s not much to do with it. Super plain features. Even though the idea is cool and we love Mario bros. Bought more than one set and they’re cute but not worth it. Regular legos are better.
