I like how you can fold it in to keep the set compact for storage. Love the mechanics where you can unhinge the side and extend the bridge out like they had in the movies. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the catapult to work such that I can get Luke to land on his feet on the second platform. In conclusion, I enjoyed building the set and bringing back a lot of nostalgia of the original Star Wars film. I love how Lego brought a lot of the details in the set.

I'm an adult that recently got back into Lego models. This is obviously meant to be a play piece in a lot of ways but I posed Luke and Vader with sabers clashing with Palpatine sat in his throne like the initial scene of the duel in RotJ and it looks great on my shelf. It is very easy and quick to put together which makes sense for a product aimed more at kids than adult builders. From an adult perspective the money you spend on this set is likely better used towards more display piece oriented sets however it does have several ways that you can display the minifigs (such as Palpatine using Force Lightning on Luke). I still 100% give this five bricks because I'm sure the age rating is totally appropriate and I had a relaxing time building a less complicated set.

It also results in needing a flat solid surface, not a bed (which is where I build, about as illogical as it gets I know) or exceedingly plush carpet.Overall, it's a good looking set with lots of playability. I also get the feeling it will be retiring soon as it still uses the pre-Force Awakens Rebels style banner, so get it while you can.

New and improved leg printing and even arm printing is present in this new Vader, something fans have been crying for, for a while! The new updated Palpatine is great again, and the Luke and Guards are the best lego can do with those characters.Overall:Must buy for any Lego Star Wars fan, if the money is present but the value is definitely there!

This is a recreation of one of my favourite scenes. Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie. The aesthetic is very accurate and you get three sections of the scene to recreate and if you have a kid - they’ll find plenty to play around with.On one side you get balcony that Vader threw his lightsaber towards as Luke stood on top of it and caused it to crash down. And yes, with just a light flick of your finger on the column that’s holding it up it will allow you to do the same.On the other side you get the pit that Vader threw Palpatine into. Both sides are adjustable to align with the centre part or diagonally next to it.The centre part is awesome. But the attention to detail should be commended and the end result is really nice looking set.

Here are some of the features that make it so awesome:1. It looks great. It stays faithful to the movie scene!2. It has cool moving parts like the railway that falls when the support beam is moved, the swiveling throne, the extending walkway, the sliding elevator doors, the launching jump pad; the moving parts make it fun to build and play with.3. It’s both displayable, and playable.4. It includes all of the minifigs from that scene in the movie! Awesome.5. There is a feeling associated with it that is both unsettling, and enjoyable.6. WHAT is this set?

So, I predicted this set coming out last, granted this is NOT what I was expecting. Just from looking at the set, I had gathered some concerns.Price aside, the size of the set is not necessary (especially, when compared to the original two products). I understand that the goal was to incorporate or be true to as much of that scene as Lego could, however there are redundancies and changes within the set that don't fit the nature of the scene.First of all, there is no indication from the film that the entry way, as designed by Lego, even exists (there is an elevator, though). This seems to be more of incorporating parts of another set (Palpatine's arrest) simply to raise the piece count. If playability is the reason for adding it, then I would say that the pieces ... MoreSo, I predicted this set coming out last, granted this is NOT what I was expecting. If playability is the reason for adding it, then I would say that the pieces chosen hinders that possibility (smooth pieces make it difficult to use mini figures). The two original sets could be considered the "bare minimum" as for the requirements for the scene. So, all we need is the throne, and something indicating a bridge with railing. I see one of those items. It is interesting that there's an "extending bridge" function with the set, but that doesn't correlate with the movie scene. The other items that have been added (what appears to be scaffolding, jump feature, etc.) also don't really fulfill the movie setting. If there was going to be scaffolding, or a balcony (which is what it more looks like), then it should be more integral with the set. With how it is, it is disconnected and really is only there for that "falling" action. A suggestion would be creating a scaffolding or balcony that encompasses the entire set, or at least connects the different sections to each other, which will not take many pieces to do.The ventilation shaft is okay but not necessary, due to the bridge being the alternative. It just takes up space and is awkwardly placed within the set.Next, why does the set close? Is there really any reason to the set having a closing feature? There have been many, many, many sets of the same price/quantity/size, if not more, that did not have a closing function. It's not really even an aesthetic.Of course, the buyer could alter the set (which is what I plan on doing) to be better fit with the scene, but that's not the point.I apologize for the harsh criticism but I have to say that the only reason I would recommend this set (which is more of simply mentioning that it exists) is because it is, mainly, the first remake of two (that are combined) of the earlier Star Wars sets. I do not necessarily want to deter any future buyers interested in this set.

Worth It - Much better than the old set

This set has been getting a fair amount of hate for essentially being a remake of a very similar set (75093) from 2015. I own both, so hopefully I can provide some perspective. As with all recent LEGO sets, the bags are numbered, which makes the build simple and straightforward. If you are getting this for kids, they will probably need help with the stickers. There are a lot of changes that improve the overall design. The computer screens behind the Emperor are the most obvious, and they look great. The computer screens behind the Emperor are the most obvious, and they look great. They also serve as a stopper for the connected platforms, allowing them to rest in their proper place without sliding around (this was a problem with the old set). The middle platform is two studs wider and the throne is farther back, so there is a lot more space to place the minifigs. The dark gray plates on the bottom floor have been replaced by black plates, which are more accurate and better-looking.The platform for the Emperor's throne comes off entirely, allowing for minifigs to be placed down below. There are clips down there to hold the force lightning accessories. The old set had an odd lightsaber-launching contraption for the Emperor in that spot. It never worked properly and made no sense for a Return of the Jedi set, so I am glad they removed it.The reactor core and falling platform have switched sides, which seems like a weird change, but it DOES have a functional purpose. The new set has a force-jump play feature that was not present in the 2015 set. You need the open space on the right side to use the feature properly and that wouldn't have been possible if it was on the left of the throne. The reactor core is essentially the same, with a few less stickers on the inside and a few more on the outside. The door leading into the throne room looks much better than it used to.As for the minifigs: Luke Skywalker and the Red Guards are the same, which is fine. The Emperor is the same outside of the new hood piece. I would rather have the old one, but I know some people that like the new one, so it comes down to personal preference. The Darth Vader minifig (as of right now) is exclusive to this set and it is by far the best version of Darth Vader available. He has printing on his arms, and the leg and torso printings have been slightly changed to show the difference between the cloth and metallic parts of his suit. The buttons on his torso look nicer and are more accurate. There are a few small cons to this set versus the old one. The Emperor's throne has a few dark grey pieces and they definitely stand out. The old version used solid black and I am not sure the reason for the change. There are also some clips on the side of the throne that don't need to be there. I suppose you can use them to hold the handcuffs or a lightsaber, but it won't look as good if you display it that way. One of the gold trophy-looking pieces in front of the door has been replaced with a sand-green statue. It just looks...weird. I am not sure what this statue is supposed to be, or why it needs to be there. A symmetrical golden trophy piece would look much better. Is it worth the price? I would say yes. The old set retailed for $80 back in 2015, but it's closer to $88.00 if you adjust for inflation. There are lot of small but significant changes with the new set that add up to a major upgrade. Many people judge set value on price per piece, but that is not always a fair barometer. This set has several large, oddly shaped, and uncommon pieces, along with several translucent pieces and a few printed windows, all of which are more expensive to produce than standard plates and bricks. If you have the old set, is it worth buying the new one? If you are buying this for your kids to play with, then it probably isn't. If you are collector, then there is no question that this worth it, especially if you are buying this for display.Happy building!

This summer released set recalls the key scenes in the Return of the Jedi where Luke confronts Vader and the Emperor. While the main Death Star set features a throne room, this one is far more detailed and has some play features.Likely, one would buy this set mainly due to the minifigure selection. You get the two royal guards that are identical to those in the Death Star Troopers battle pack. Then, you have the Jedi Luke minifigure with his lightsaber. Of course, the Emperor appears, and he has force lightning parts for each hand. The Darth Vader minifig is unique to this set since he has been redesigned to have a two piece helmet, which is good for the scene where Vader removes his mask. In fact, the face behind the helmet is actually smiling, presumably the last scene with Vader. The play features are numerous, including opening doors, a ramp to launch a minifigure, collapsing stairs, the ledge where look jumped to which can collapse, and a shaft to throw someone in. There is also a lightsaber for the emperor, which has a fun little feature to make it pop out of nowhere. Although the scene does not feature this, we know from the prequels that Palpatine had a hidden weapon somewhere, so this is a nice little nod to that. There are some stickers for the shaft and the emperor's throne, but otherwise the details are brick built. The set can be manipulated by hinges and an expanding floor to increase or decrease the size of the play area. The build was fun, and there are lots of nice details here. I also enjoy the three large windows found in the scene. Due to the updated minifigs, this will probably be of interest to fans of the original trilogy even if they own the minifigs involved from other sets. Kids will enjoy the play features and the highly recognizable figures and their weapons of choice. I am also recommending Imperial Shuttle Tyderium. If you buy the ship, the minifigs in this set can be used to make it the Emperor's shuttle. Definitely, this is a worthy set of the franchise.

a Classic Scene

I primarily picked this set up after eyeing up its predecessor. I am glad that LEGO had opted to recreate this iconic scene because the Aftermarket prices for the 2015 predecessor were rocketing. This set comes with various playability features and is quite sturdy overall making it easy to move around for both display and play purposes. The minifigure selection is great, with two imperial guards, emperor palpatine, luke skywalker and darth vader all being prominent characters in the Star Wars universe. I really liked the subtle details although the stickers were a little painful to apply, especially on the rounded chute. Overall, however, I highly recommend picking this set up. It looks great on display.
