A beautiful LEGO build with many extras

This build is among the most beautiful LEGO ever offered. The result is a shiny jewel of an aircraft for Green Lantern to fly. It has a clever functionally to fire the two wing-mounted missiles. Usually that system is clunky but in this design it works well. The build for the lantern is clever. Sinestro is a cool additional character with his own transporter. As with other themes tied into agreements with other manufacturers, LEGO sneaks in another mini fig ("Space Batman") which provides the opportunity to build your own vehicle.

This set is the only one produced for the Dr Strange Movie, and therefore fans will no doubt buy it, even if it is only to get their hands on the titular character. The set itself is very good as a play set, but unfortunately fails to add anything else to it other than that. The arbelisk is a nice touch, with a 'capture' feature for unfortunate minifigures, but it is disappointing to notice the exclusion of any villains from the set, such as Dormammu or Kaecilius. However, the features included are MARVELlous (;)) and the design of the minifigures, particularly Dr Strange, are very accurate to their movie counterparts. Excellent Little Set!

As a huge Marvel fan not only was I excited about the Doctor Strange film, but when I saw that Lego we're releasing a set with it I knew I had to get it.The build was really good fun, didn't take too long, but there's some really cool parts you get with it, some of the printed maps and books were really nice, however you do get a lot of stickers with it (which isn't a big deal as the price for this is so reasonable). The minifigs you get with this set are awesome! All three of them are fantastic to look at and the printing is beautiful, especially for doctor strange himself, they are great additions to my huge minifig collection! There are some cool little play features with this set aswell with the levitating cloak and you are able to levitate two minifigs ... MoreAs a huge Marvel fan not only was I excited about the Doctor Strange film, but when I saw that Lego we're releasing a set with it I knew I had to get it.The build was really good fun, didn't take too long, but there's some really cool parts you get with it, some of the printed maps and books were really nice, however you do get a lot of stickers with it (which isn't a big deal as the price for this is so reasonable). The minifigs you get with this set are awesome! I would definitely recommend this set. :)

Great addition to the Marvel line.

This set is great. It's easy to build, it has a lot of great details and features, and some cool new minifigures, which is always important for any new superhero set.It makes a great display piece, but there's also high playability too, if that's your thing. Especially the portal, which is a really cool feature.I would have loved to see a larger, more challenging version of this set. I think the amount of cool details in this one, could have made for an awesome larger one too. And if that ever happens, I'm sure I'll get it too. But for now, this is a good introduction to Doctor Strange, and a must have for Marvel fans.

Great but there are inaccuracy
6 November 2016

The set itself as a LEGO product is fantastic, but as a Doctor Strange movie based set, it is not so accurate. The elements in the set is amazing and is highly detailed, the style of the build is great too, but the accuracy of some parts does bother me, here are the inaccuracies.SPOILER ALERTThe Ancient One's robes are golden in colour, but after watching the movie, I can't help but notice that the purple on the mini figure is not present. Another major inaccuracy is that the portal beast is not really there in the movie. Some might suggest that is the Dormammu, but Dormammu in the movie has arms, not tentacles. Also, the odd silver artefact/relic is not really found in the movie, yet the pictures LEGO put up keeps removing it from the shelf of the build while ... MoreThe set itself as a LEGO product is fantastic, but as a Doctor Strange movie based set, it is not so accurate. Also, the odd silver artefact/relic is not really found in the movie, yet the pictures LEGO put up keeps removing it from the shelf of the build while not showing where, how, and who would be using it. The last major inaccuracy to me is that the items in the chest does not show up in the movie either, so I do not know why they put the golden keys and ruby there. They could've put the Ancient One's collection of books or just one of them(preferably the one about time) inside, or put something that resembles the sling ring in the movie. Things I would like to see in the set are the whip that Doctor Strange repeatedly uses, as that seems to be the major weapon he has, and he can only cast three spells. LEGO could've done that easily by putting the Ghostrider's translucent chain piece in the set. It would be nice if they also made a green coloured magic effect for Strange because that is an important element in the movie, but I understand if they are not allowed to make it as it might be considered a spoiler. I would also love to see Mads Mikkelsen's character in the set, so there would be someone for Doctor Strange to fight. The other things I would love to see has been mentioned before, but I'll repeat because it would've been a great addition to the set, they are the books that the Ancient One treasures the most, and the sling ring that they use to create portals.

As an AFOL (Adult fFan of Lego) I am drawn particularly to sets that are good display pieces, and the Doctor Strange set delivers in spades. With three unique minifigs, a little more edgy concept (an interdimensional portal beast - in LEGO no less), and all the details needed to portray the good Doctor's inner sanctum it's definitely going to be a unique set on any shelf. What stands out here is the detailing on all the figures, particularly the fine gold symbols on Strange's energy discs and the Ancient One's fans... over the top for LEGO. A letter from Shamballah for instance, how awesome a touch! This set to me is more for AFOL's as a collector set than one for kids as Doctor Strange is not as well known as other Marvel franchises, and the set is clearly designed for display first and play second. The build is fun and goes quick, but the pieces are often small and require attention or a child could easily misplace a few, and in a few cases the structure of the set can breakdown until its fully assembled. That being said, I really wish LEGO would do more of these diorama setting sets, they go so far to capture the feel of a concept. If I could change anything it would be to add a component behind the window, like a printed card. Just placing the set at random on a shelf, the view through the window actually disrupts the flow of the set; I would advise finding something like a nice city-scape at night post card to place behind the window to flesh out the scene. Without question, probably alongside the Airport Battle with Gi-Antman are the best 2016 LEGO Marvel sets to be sure, however Doctor Strange's is an instant classic..On the question of villains in the set, Mordo is technically an arch enemy of Strange's in the comics, however this one is from the movie and so far indications are he is an ally (for now). By including him the set lets you imagine him either way, hero or villain alongside that pesky portal creature.

Of course this is a retired Lego product which I was lucky to acquire. This was a very creative Lego design which I actually purchased for reasons other than the Marvel Comic aesthetic, as photographic furniture for a graphic novel mashup. Therefore I will not be judging this on the designs adherence to Marvel Cannon or other such nonsense. It serves all of the purposes for which it was acquired and being a Lego product it is well made of consistently reliable materials, through predictably high Lego standards.

I was a little disappointed in the shipping because although the box said fragile the box was smashed. Luckily the Lego box was just a little dented. I think Lego's are a little pricey but the product is excellent and my grandson loves them. Walmart has been excellent on all my purchases.
