LEGO 76429 Harry Potter Talking Sorting Hat

I bought this set in the pre-order to build with my 7 year old daughter. We have always wanted a toy sorting hat, so to be able to make one out of LEGO has been a dream. There were definitely adult specific components, but my 7 year old was able to do most of the build (she has been building for a couple years). She sorted everyone in our family, and we were all Ravenclaw, so we thought there was a glitch, but our dog is in Gryffindor. After playing with it a bit longer it became a bit more random. So, maybe it’s just that accurate and we are all Ravenclaw!

This set really intrigued me especially since it is a talking hat Lego set. What I didn't realize was that it had moving parts on the hat (eyes and mouth) and I thought that was absolutely amazing. The build was so fun and so cool to see how the parts would move and to see how the hat would make the sounds. The only downfall from this set is the price point, which at 100 dollars is a lot but granted there are some bigger pieces with the set, I didn't feel as bad spending as much after I built it.

This was a fun build and the completed product is phenomenal! The mechanisms to make the face move are very clever and the sound brick adds a ton of fun. My two kids and I built this using "Build together" instructions and my only complaint would be that one person ended up doing many steps at the end, while the other two people had nothing to do for about 20 minutes.
