LEGO Architecture : The Eiffel Tower (21019)

This is the first item I have ordered. It was easy and the service was quick and really good. The only thing that I was unsure about is the price. I paid £74.99 + P & P - it was selling for a lot more on another site and other pieces still in stock of landmarks on the Lego site were of similar price so I bought it. However when I unpacked the item there was a price sticker on it for £29.99. I am hoping this is an error and that I haven't paid 150% more than I should have.

This was my third Lego set (also my third from the Architecture line) and the most challenging of those I've built so far--also certainly the most interesting!Each stage of building was an adventure; aside from the base, I could never quite tell what I was working on till the end of a section. There's a large variety of pieces used for this one, many of which I'd never seen used--this was my first experience with the click-in ones, for example.It was always nicely revelatory to see how things came together (like realizing where the rubbery bits went); each stage was paced in a way where you could easily take breaks between sections, if you like. Beautiful Model... Impractical Manual

This was my first Lego Architecture set - but definitely not my last. A straight forward build resulting in a beauitful model to put on display.> PACKAGING & CONTENTSThe outer packaging is the sleek Architecture branded black box. Inside, there's 321 pieces (a lot of small parts) packed into four bags and an information/instructions booklet. I love print material and the booklet that comes with this set is a beautiful addition. The only problem is that you can't lay it out flat which makes it really difficult to use since you have to keep one hand on the booklet to hold it open while trying to build with the other hand. In the end I had to download the manual online and view it on the screen while building the model.The information and photos in the booklet are great, but as an instructions manual it's not really fit for purpose as much as it should be.Other than that I love this set. It's a simple build, but with some creative solutions. The final model is a good representation of the real thing and it looks great sitting on the desk.> RATINGI assume most people use the "Play Experience" on reviews to find sets that have a good playability factor after the main build. Since this really isn't a set for playing with I've given it the lowest play rating. But if there was a "build experience" it would get top marks.I've knocked one brick off the overall rating due to the impractical instructions manual.I would recommend this set to anyone and I will be buying other Architecture sets. I just hope the instructions manuals are more practical in other sets.

Fun Model

Moving on from more play-focused Lego sets and into sets that are really nice to display, this really does well. I built it with my girlfriend and was very simple, nothing too complex. Only thing is when you know what the actual tower looks like IRL, there is no support in the second level of arches, but this set has one. It doesn't need it; I removed it leaving the 4x4 plate on top and everything below that until the 8x8 grate, which you should obviously keep. It holds its shape fine. But that is the only thing that is anywhere remotely bad. Not even bad. Kind of odd honestly. Great to put on shelf.

Good quick sale. Arrived in good time. I enjoyed making this. It was not too difficult. Shame that the very last piece was missing (but you wouldnt notice it to be fair).

Good starter set

My son learned of the Eiffel Tower in second grade. I wish I would have known about this set then. It would have been a nice project for him to take to school. This was is first architecture set of legos. He picked it out. I would not have picked it due to age suggestion because he is 9 but familiar with setting up legos himself. He was able to put this set together with no help. He kept it together for display longer than any other set he has ever put together. After a few weeks he lost the top long piece. I see other people have mentioned something about this piece as well.

Great landmark!

Being my second Lego of this great Architecture collection, I enjoyed it very much. The instructions were clear and I was excited about building this amazing tower.The only areas I'd suggest to improve are the radio antenna (perhaps add an extra thinner antenna), the colour of the bricks (they are too grey whereas the real tower is made of puddling iron and not steel) and the cross sections to make it look more like the real one.Overall it was quite enjoyable, the four pillars, the iron platforms and the four arches are well made. It kept me busy for a while.Looking forward to my next set!

So, at long last, Lego has made An Eiffel Tower. Will it live up to the expectations? We'll see.Part I- Build: I build this set in about 30 minutes. However, this was probably because of the fact that I was at the time on a brownie induced sugar rush. To the average Lego builder, I would say it would take 45 minutes, maybe more. The build has almost no technic and is worth the time. The tower is built in three parts: base, middle, and topPart II- Structure: The tower's base is very sturdy, and so are the separate sections. However, the three sections (base middle and top) don't go together very well. Every time I even touched it, the middle section would fall off, taking the top with it. Not my favorite

This was definitely not my favorite build. I was not pleased with the fact that the structure was not solid, but rather is set on rotating corners, making it hard to align so it's not leaning or turned/twisted. I also think there could have been a better option for the arches than the strange rubber pieces that were included. As I sit and look at the finished product, it does not please me as my other builds do; it looks crooked and just lacks the level of detail that I've come to expect from Lego.That being said, I'm proud to own any item from the architecture collection and will continue to invest in them. I loved the option for the name plates in English and French and chose to use both of them on opposing sides.

Simple, relaxing build.

As the same with the small city builds, you do have to remember, that these kind of builds are more targeted towards the more mature builder, as it doesn't have any moving parts or any "playablility" besides it's feeling of satisfaction after completing.It took about an hour of knolling, (due to some intricate pieces), and about 40-60mins to build.I can imagine seeing this as one of the more interesting Archicture builds, simply because of the number of pieces compared to some other buildings, however it did offer a glimpse of the theraputic nature I gained whilst building the Saturn V.I am someone who prefers bigger builds, but this certainly helped manage ... MoreThis was my second purchase into the Architecture series, after building the small scale London model.
