Being a classic and muscle car petrol head, when i saw this set in Blocks magazine, (issue 11 if you are interested), i knew it was my very next purchase. It arrived, i built, and im still smiling. (My build times reflect me savoring the build and taking it slow, so pay no attention to them :-) I estimate a solid 6 hour build for the average Joe but its all relative no?).The details that the designers managed to include using Lego are amazing, as is the attention to said details. Having just the pull rod on the door interior, as opposed to a door handle and trim, is identical to the real thing, and is something many models fail to replicate. Even film producers couldn't get that correct (check out Joshua Tree with Dolph Lundgen to see what i mean). but Lego did! ... Even film producers couldn't get that correct (check out Joshua Tree with Dolph Lundgen to see what i mean). but Lego did! The engine air intakes and brake cooling ducts are faithfully (and cleverly) recreated with roof pieces in the side body work and front bonnet and, not quite as clever, two stickers on 2x4 smooth plates are used on the top flanks of the engine shell. The louvered rear window is another detail that is also executed well. So good as to look like it could almost be one piece. The famous 5 spoke Ferrari wheels are recreated with a new disc piece, the windscreen also new with side printing to represent the A pillars, and black plates with red print represent the B pillars. Unsure if these are new pieces. They look like they could be a transparent window plate design molded in solid black with the red print. Either way, they work. The twin turbo V8 is glorious to look at, can be displayed seperately, and is, in itself, a fun mini build. Using mini figure musket pistols as the exhaust manifolds made me smile.I despise stickers and, thankfully, there are very few of them. Also, the wheelbase can seem a tad short when viewed at an angle that includes its width, but doesnt detract anything over all. Two VERY minor complaints that, in all honesty, seem trivial in the overall finished product. Forget you read them!If you are into Lego, (and lets face it, you are on a Lego website), buy this set. It is a triumph in design and execution. Great fun to build and one of the best looking display models (in my opinion) Lego has ever produced.

This is easily my favourite set to date. The end result is a massive, surprisingly-detailed F40 that looks absolutely wonderful on display.I have been a big fan of the Speed Champions series, and part of the reason I purchased the F40 was the hope that LEGO expands the line and one day offers a Creator Porsche 911.But I digress-- the F40 is simply amazing. It took me four-ish days, but only because I took my time and savoured every moment of the build. The directions were clear and very straightforward. I was surprised by the craftsmanship-- what a design! The F40 has several moving parts, including opening front and rear hoods/ bonnets. The engine is amazingly detailed, and the headlamps flip up. It was that much fun!I have only one negative-- my kit was missing a trans-clear 1x1 plate (3024), part of the headlamp assembly. Extremely minor, but worth noting. If you are on the fence... buy it. You will not regret it.

When I first saw this set I knew I gotta have one quick, I was so excited that I called Lego multiple times and when the VIP early access popped up I ordered mine right away. I'm not really a Ferrari expert but comparing it to the actual car and the model itself, Lego has done an excellent job in giving the car it's classic shape undoubtedly an F40.A lot of detail went to it's big V8 engine that can be removed and displayed alongside the car, the massive engine hatch too gets the same treatment, then you go upfront and there is this big hood that hinges well, then inside you have this immaculately designed interior and everything is red! The stickers used in set is high quality although I wish Lego instead just printed some of them like Ferrari logo in the steering wheel and the F40 emblem at the left side as well as the one on the license plate, I think the Ferrari logo also should have been printed as well on the left and right sides of the car. I'll give Lego a 100/100 by making this set free-wheeled just like my 8214 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, it adds more play factor to the set and it is in scale with that set and my 10220 VW T1 Campervan. If you're into classic cars or just simply love cars then this set if for you!

This was the best Lego set ever. Putting this together was so fun. Had day's I would put parts together, then would have to take it back apart from messing up, put it back together. Loved this set for how well detailed it was.Sad that when it was all said and done, it lacked with one detail tho. Would of been nice if Lego would have painted on "windshield wiper/s" or given us "windshield wiper decal sticker" to make the Ferrari F40 100% complete. That to the side, Overall, I do Recommend, anyone who loves to collect Lego's to find this set, buy it and have it for there collection. No amount of talking about how fun this was to build can be put into words. It's a set you ALL NEED to Experience your self.
This kit is awesome! i'm a 42 year old male and I liked all the small parts used. Thought it would be a little more challenging. I even did it a slow way. I dumped all number 1 bags into two large and one small Hefty bag. I then immediately dumped all number 2 bags into two large and one small Hefty bag. I worked all number 1 parts first and completed the first half. I worked all number 2 parts second and completed the whole kit. Only took me a day and a half even continuously looking for parts over and over. If the parts were spread out it would have been extra easy. But, I like building things and wanted to know if I could build an expert kit. I think I did quite well. Less than 14 hours for total completion, even the hard way. Congratulations to Lego and I see it ... MoreThis kit is awesome! i'm a 42 year old male and I liked all the small parts used. Thought it would be a little more challenging. I even did it a slow way. Congratulations to Lego and I see it was officially licensed by Ferrari since the F40 was they're car. Thank you Target for getting it delivered to my house via UPS and not USPS, they get the address wrong when it involves large boxes. You definitely need to be older for this one though, at least 14 or 16+, follow Lego instructions on ages. I'm used to these things because I used to build model airplanes of all scales. Now I can't take the glue and paint fumes so I've gone back to Lego. Last January I tried the Lego Blue Power Jet and it was awesome too! Good work Lego! I'm glad you're offering some kits for older children and challenging for adults. Thank you all! Everyone old enough, boys, girls, men and women should try this kit if you like building things. Thanks! Adrian! Both kits were Lego Creator and I like those best. Technic kits are more challenging I'm sure, but quite a bit more expensive. Creator kits are a decent value and you get so many parts and the kits do so many things once completed. Doors open, hood and trunk open, wheels turn etc. Great! Adrian!
Its a Ferrari, and Its red.The designers have done an amazing job with this car, my first thought when i received the box and opened it was how on earth are all these pieces going to make just one car. There are a lot of pieces, but that makes this set incredible value and the build is a just beautiful. So I accidentally stumbled on a Lego website a few weeks ago and noticed that they have these awesome Technic sets for sale and I HAD TO HAVE one or two or maybe more for myself...and if you happen to go to The art of the brick: dc superheroes exhibition like me you will not hesitate and get one...So I got one and it was worth every penny. It took me a few days to complete it but not because of it being a challenging build. I took my time. It was also interesting to get inside the mind of the person who designed it to understand how he solved/approached each aspects of F40's build to match the real car. And it was rewarding to see how it takes shape with every piece you add. Overall an amazing set to have in every automotive fan's collection. I will be getting ... Im not going to repeat what everyone else has already said short of letting you know this set is simply amazing. As a Ferrari aficionado I can honestly say Lego has perfected this set. I believe Enzo Ferrari would have been blown away to see Lego recreate his last masterpiece with such attention to detail and care. This is a must have set for any automotive or Lego fan!*Side Note*For those wondering why I gave this set a play experience of 1 here is why: This set (to me) is a homage to one of the greatest super cars ever made. Its purpose is to display the design, craftsmanship, and performance of the car it represents. I do not see this set as something I'd let my 10 year old play with (though I do not disagree with those that do). This set will be proudly ... Building this set was an absolute blast!Bought it in Rome for 70€ with a gift card from the Lego store and went straight back home to build it. By far the most challenging build because of the piece count and and the overall size of the set.The F40 is a beautiful car and Lego catched it pretty well. It isn't as curvy as the real life car but that would be quite hard to accomplish with the pieces we have today. The Engine was a really fun small build that you can take out of the back and just have it on display with the car. The windshield was a new piece made exclusively for this set and it has red printing on the sides. The interior is also great! You can adjust the height of the steering wheel and the seats. I managed to put the stickers flawlessly which was very important because they are a key part of the look of the F40.I absolutely love this set and would recommend buying it. It is pretty sizable as well.
My wife and I bought the Lego Ferrari thinking it would be a good addition to our Camper Van, Beetle and Mini Cooper. We have not enjoyed building it and had to take it apart several times to get it to fit together right. None of the pieces fit together properly and the windshield is not secure enough to the rest of the front end to keep it from falling off when you have to add other parts. Both times we have made it to the door frames, they have not fit together properly and have been a nuisance to attach with the skinny little posts. We have bought and built many of the expert sets, including the both Simpsons sets, the three vehicles listed above, the Ghostbusters firehouse, and London Tower. This is by far the worst Lego product that we have ever purchased.
