This kit is a bigger than the first one, but is essentially a bigger clone. This castle is from Disneyland Anaheim park, also known as "Sleeping Beauties Castle". The previous iteration was Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World, Orlando. I have both sets, and the reason for doing this is so that I can connect both (like the modular Ninjago City sets). The only issue I had was that the first castle was part of the lower 4000 piece club, while this one is the higher 4000 piece club, so I had to get some matching brinks and had to essentially lift the castle walls and turrets up off the foundation and place some bricks. The main castle spire also posed some issues as Sleeping Beauties castle is again, taller. That's where the remaining bricks went to. It was a great ... The main castle spire also posed some issues as Sleeping Beauties castle is again, taller. That's where the remaining bricks went to. It was a great build, and of course you will want to place connector bricks at the very bottom of each column (4 on WDW castle, 4 on Disneyland castle), alongside of course using connector tubes. Do not install either spire until you have connected both to one another because if you bump the spire off one or both, well you will have a happy accident on your side. Once installed make sure the top of the spires are the same height, and if so, finish building the flagpole. Now what about the drawbridge doors, you're asking. Well you have a choice. If you want to pay homage and have an accurate full castle, you have two choices, either you can make it to where both drawbridge doors on each kit swing to the exterior, or, you can permanently remove said brown doors on one of the kits and using matching bricks, you can build yourself a wall, which is what I ended up doing as I am still trying to figure out how to make the doors swing outward without clipping, or they could attach themselves to the rear of the moat bridge.

I saw, I bought, I conquered and I am amazed!! All the efforts of installing are worth it! It is simply beautiful… and more.I didn’t think it would be so nice. The intensity, the effects and the remote to control it all… WOW!It took me between 6 and 7 hours to complete the project and I am an electrotechnician and very handy.I fix anything! So for you beginners it will be a long task but with patience and steady hands you’ll succeed!!And it is worth it. I am very satisfied with the results and the quality of the kit is awesome. Some steps in the manuals are not so clear on how to disassemble and reassemble some parts but with the lego instruction book you are all ok. I didn’t use it but it happened to me 2 or 3 times to be confused. All around I do suggest this ... MoreI saw, I bought, I conquered and I am amazed!! All the efforts of installing are worth it! Too long didn’t read: looks amazing, really hard to do, be warned! First off props to the designers of this…I am not the creative engineering type to figure this kind of complexity out and it’s amazing how they made this work. But if you’re like me and a Lego novice, maybe best to skip this one. It has you take apart the castle in precarious ways- pieces hitting the ground constantly- not going back together quite right- overall feeling much more fragile than it was before adding wires. Also wires are everywhereeee and this sort of bothers me. I’m not a wire hiding wizard like the creators of this!I didn’t have trouble interpreting the directions but I had immense trouble executing the steps. It just wasn’t easy for me. Tiny little connections, wires that didn’t want to go where they said they should, and inconsistencies in the directions regarding removing pieces.I spent my time being frustrated brainstorming what to write in a review to caution others, but then I hit the magical on switch and WOW. It looks so so good. It was all worth it. 3 sets of lights on the inside bottom aren’t working for me, and one light on the front only stays lit when you touch it. This definitely bothers me but no way am I going to take anything apart again to try to fix it so it is what it is. The ones on the inside are probably somehow user error. I’m just glad that’s all that was wrong as there’s no way to check your work as you go.Big highlight- the fireworks sparkle and change colors! Wasn’t expecting that and it’s awesome! Photos don’t do the thing justice.Overall, I recommend the product and end result, but brace yourself for the time and frustration and level of detail this entails!

I like the concept of this set and the build is sturdy. However, the minifigs don’t look like the characters they`re meant to be representing. The characters are supposed to have human proportions but minifigs have large bulbous heads with no necks. This is not accurate. Since the minifigs don’t look like the characters and the décor requires the characters to depict what it’s trying to depict, the whole design falls apart aesthetically.I feel like the better way to do this is without the minifigs and just use the specialized molds, like how they use animal figurines. I`m not trying to hate on Disney, I just want to be real about what`s holding the set back.
The lighting kit enhances the castle magnificently and makes the model look amazing. The remote sound is the cherry on the cake. The kit is quite easy to fit with easy and well detailed instructions. The kit was far better than a previous competitors light kit we tried. Game of Bricks kit was more detailed especially with the remote control with the fireworks and music. It was also a lot expensive but a lot more impressive. I wouldn’t purchase light kits from anywhere else from now on.
The castle itself is beautiful…. But I haven’t been able to finish it because bag #20 was missing and bag #18 (which there were four #18) came with another set’s pieces :( it was weird…. It ruined the entire experience…. This is my second Lego set…. And… yeah…. Super bad experience….. talked to a team member through the phone.. and I have to wait A MONTH for all the bag #20 pieces get shipped to me….. so…. Yeah…. :( if you own the castle…. You can tell I’m literally stuck at #20 :’( and can continue or open any other bag until I get the missing pieces….
This version of the Castle is a little more faithful to the Cinderella Castle in Orlando. Colors are more accurate and the towers looks way better. It is not huge upgrade compared to the previous version but from the front it looks better. The older one, however has a better ground floor in my opinion. It is more ornate and elaborate. The new version is more like an open space for ballroom dancing. My daughter is crazy about Magic Kingdom and since we went to visit the park this earlier this year, it was the perfect momento to correlate with the 100th anniversary. I built the bottom and she built the top part. For some reason that I can't pinpoint, I did enjoy more the building experience. Now both castles sit on top of the fireplace.
Overall the kit was good, the instructions were pretty hard to follow and not always as clear or logical as they could have been. Photos are a little misleading, I was disappointed with how visible a lot of the wires are at the end, I was led to believe from the photos that all the wires would be hidden within the bricks but that's not the case. As long as you're not bothered by some exposed wires spoiling the clean lines of the kit, you'll be fine. Probably took me 10 hours all in to complete so not awful. Kit was complete no missing parts and all lights working fine so, all in all 4 stars.
I have only been building sets for about 2 years. Most that I have worked on have been smaller sets for my kiddo or a few for me in the $40-$60 range. When this castle was released I immediately wanted it but I thought it would be too hard. I finally ended up getting it and I am so glad I did. I struggled with the base a bit as it kept having pieces come undone until I found some flat plates to reinforce the blue pieces at the front from underneath it. I loved seeing all of the details come together. I worked on and off for about 3 days to complete it. I thought it would take longer so I am pleased. I had to retrace my steps a few times since I had made a few errors, but overall I really enjoyed this build and didn’t find it too frustrating considering it was my ... The instructional photos were incredibly bad/confusing, with odd choices of where to place wires (hiding inside wires on the outside of the castle?!) and had incredibly difficult maneuvers required to attach wires to distro boards (which made it much more difficult in the sequence it suggested). I also paid for the torch kit, but the whole series of lights in that kit short circuits the set and overheats the wireless board. Had to take it out. Overall, I would definitely not recommend this kit. I made it look ok in the end but man what a terrible experience building this one.
