I was so excited about this track and my son was too. The pieces don’t fit together well to make a full track. A more intentional set that made a complete connecting track would have been nice. Worst of all the switch track pieces don’t fit the wheels on Duplo trains. I have attached a picture. So the train de-rails because the track isn’t wide enough.

This review is specifically about the railways set that I bought for my 3-year old son.After a long and detailed analysis of two shifter railways pieces (see pictures) included in Lego Duplo 10882, which we combined with Lego Duplo 10894 train set as recommended on the package, I am 100% certain that the shifters are defective/flawed.The train set slides without problems on other railway pieces, but when you take the train through the shifters the wheels of the train set do not fit through and the train derails. Hi,A little disappointed with this product. I purchased this for my 3 yr old birthday two days ago. When we opened this to my surprise with a set of train tracks there is NO TRAIN. So I double check the box and it does not come with one ( clearly my mistake) - however ridiculous. I then drive back to the store on his birthday happy to buy the train that must go with this train track to find out it is not sold separately. The next size up 10872 now $34 also is NOT sold with Train. So we have to spend $80 for a train set 10874 with a train. So tell me please how do I but the train that goes with this train set so my little boy can actually enjoy this toy.

My 4-year old grandson was very excited to get this add-on to the Cargo train set #10875. He makes very creative shapes with the tracks and loves changing the configuration even as the train is going around the tracks. The barriers are also great fun and teach him about waiting at level crossings. Highly recommend!
Great expansion set. I feel compelled to leave this review cause there are very few and the bad ones clearly bought it without doing any research. The boxes clearly show the sets it’s compatible with. Works only with the duplo powered trains. Great expansion, great value, my kids love the 4 duplo train sets they have combined to make one large track. Planning on buying more tracks. Switch tracks work excellent for the trains they are intended for.
When we got the extra track one of the first things I did for the three year old owner was to build a turning loop. With this at one end of the track and the reversing brick at the other the train can run backwards and forwards continuously while the child manages the level crossing. However, the three year old wanted another turning loop at the other end. There weren't enough bends to make this so we made this lopsided arrangement with three straight pieces included.
I have purchased this for my 3-year old grandson, but he will not get it until Christmas. We are well experienced with Lego and Duplo and find all of their products to be durable and entertaining. Our little boy has seen the picture of his train and train-track (I bought both the train package and the rails with boom gates) and he is so excited to think that he 'may' get them soon. Any parent buying a Lego or Duplo product will be ensuring that their child/children have many hours of productive entertainment. The only draw-back is cleaning up the pieces when the children have finished playing with them.
I bought one set like this for our grandchildren for Christmas . . . then bought more track on eBay . . . and decided they needed some more switching tracks to go with it. I looked at buying individual switching tracks, but it was less expensive to buy complete boxes like this than to buy two independent switching tracks. I know our grandson, especially enjoyed the first box; these particular boxes arrived at their house (700+ miles from our house) after we left, but I'm sure they will be put to good use, based on the first set they got. Our grandson, who turned 3 yesterday, enjoys pushing the train around the track. Our granddaughters (8 and 5) have more fun building "houses" to go with the track. Does exactly what it says on the box. Great little expansion set giving you a lot more options when combining with one of the larger Duplo train sets. The two junction tracks are a useful inclusion, but wish the crossover track could make a return, for a figure of eight set up. My son loves it (anything to keep him away from daddys Lego).
