For having not built a Lego set in 15+ years (I’m 32) and seeing this pop up on my TikTok FYP when it was announced before preorder for VIP Lego members, I just had to stalk this release! At 12:02 am my order was submitted on VIP release day and received it September 9th. By the end of the evening I had built the entire set and loved every second of it! The detail and originality of the bricks were so fun to work with! The size of the finished figures are perfect as well. I was going to set it up in my science lab classroom, but determined my 3-5th graders would mess with it when nobody is in the room, so for now at least have decided to keep it at home. Love this either way! Definitely get this if you’re interested! It’s a fun and beautiful set! 😍

I purchased this as an anniversary gift for my partner and I, but in all honesty it was mainly for me. We both love the design and build of the mantis the best. The butterfly is the simplest, nothing complex, but we like the bee. The beetle has been a point of contention, while the design concept is wonderful, the stand is supposed to rock to display the larvae but doesn’t fully and the beetle easily detached from the stand in an undesirable manner. It’s a rather delicate piece we’ve relegated to a low traffic area.

I had been watching this set since it first debuted in LEGO Ideas & was super excited to finally get it in person! I was a tiny bit concerned about how delicate the build might be, but that was not a problem at all! I actually accidentally knocked one off my build table when walking by it, grabbed it mid-air, and nothing snapped off or got messed up.This set is fairly easy to build. It's not fiddly or difficult, even though there's lots of tiny pieces. The ladybugs & bumble bee are especially cute! I'm really happy with this set & it makes a great display piece.
These Lego Insects are simply beautiful. They have a strong shelf presence with their unique silhouettes and vibrant colours. The building process was a lot of fun with interesting and engaging building techniques.This Insect set really gives a museum like feel when displayed on a shelf among other Ages 18+ Lego sets. I would gladly buy more Lego Insects if they were to produce more along this line.Highly Recommended.
Knew I had to have these when I first saw them, I’m usually a modular fan. Loved the way each insect is a different assembly with its own instructions. The Lego insects now enjoy a place a newly decorated guest bedroom where they really fit in with the decor.No problem was found in any of the insects, they all went together really well. The colours are fabulous and the insects are really realistic.I can really recommend this Lego set as a present to someone special or as a starter set for an adult.
I loved this set SO MUCH! I'm so excited to finally have some insects! For about 80 dollars it is the perfect amount of build time. I did however struggle with the beatle's wings not wanting to stay on. They're supposed to be able to move a bit but they're pretty heavy being connected by a small piece. Once I finally put it together, I stopped touching it out of frustration so it now lives on my desk. It was all worth it. I'm in love. For all my fellow insect lovers!
I wasn't expecting to say this, but this is definitely one of my favorite LEGO sets ever. Each insect's build was interesting, I absolutely love that they're to scale, and they all look great next to one another. As for the Easter egg, very clever use of a white croissant piece!Much to my enjoyment, I also added a spider (part 29111) to the foot of the beetle! I couldn't assign it to any specific species as I'm not entomologist (rather arachnologist), but aesthetically it fits very nicely. Thanks to the creators!
What a phenomenal piece. Having admired the more elaborate 3-in-1 animals, and having a general appreciation for insects, picking up this reasonably-priced set was an easy decision. The models are large, vibrantly-coloured, and more intricate and detailed than any Lego wildlife set I've seen or built. The Hercules beetle actually made my wife a bit uncomfortable because of how life-like (though not to scale ;P) is it. Building experience is good, but fantastic display model that can also be easily played with if desired.
This set fits right in with all of my botanical sets so very well! Overall this set is great, it makes a great build for someone that likes to pose and rearrange their sets. I did want to mention I did notice what appears to be a minor mistake in the instructions that would not alter the outcome. In the picture for step 53 in the butterfly instructions, the two inset pictures are switched around. It’s easy to tell by the piece orientation. Also, nice use of the pistol element!
