I don’t normally write reviews, however, feel I should to allow others to make an informed decision before parting with their cash!As with everything, this set has good and bad points, unfortunately, this set has more bad points than good!I’ll start with the bad points first:- The dinosaur balances very precariously on its two legs. If the legs are not set exactly right, it just falls over. When you do get it balanced perfectly, if anybody walks past it (or even breathes near it), it wobbles.... a lot.- If anybody does touch it or my son “plays” with it, it collapses. The way the legs are connected to the body (using technic pins) seems to be the weakest link.- When you then try to put it all together again the tail falls off (this is connected with ball ... Don’t get me wrong, it works however it’s gives the set a “cheap” feel to it.All the dinosaur issues appear to be weight related (I know that feeling) and I think the set would have benefited from fixed legs rather than movable. The good points:- It’s a nice family build.- If you can get it balanced and ensure no one goes within 2 metres of it, it looks amazing as a display piece.- For a younger child there is some playability with the gate part of the set.To summarise, if you can get it at a discounted price then go for it but if you can only get it at the full price then contemplate a different set such as Baracuda Bay

I know I'm late, but I got this for my bday a few weeks ago. As a major LEGO and Jurassic Park fan, I was dying to get this set for a year and when I did, I was so excited. The building experience was amazing and if I was rich would buy another just to build it again! There's just a couple things that upset me, though. I was missing two pieces that went over the eyes of the T. rex, and I saw some other reviews of people complaining about missing pieces, so maybe that's a quality assurance problem. Luckily I had two of those pieces in my part box, so I was able to replace them easily. The T. rex is perfect other than that. The mini figures are nearly perfect...except for three problems. I would have preferred a new exclusive version of Alan and Ellie since I bought ... MoreI know I'm late, but I got this for my bday a few weeks ago. I would have preferred a new exclusive version of Alan and Ellie since I bought two of the other Jurassic Park set. I appreciate the exclusive Ian Malcom since I do have the other version. Alan and Ellie could have been survivor versions just like Ian. I also wish Donald Genaro and Robert Muldoon came with the set as well. Everyone has their own room and there's the toilet which needs Donald. Robert could go with Ian in the bunker. The gate is somehow above perfect. I love this set and it goes very well with my big sets from other movies I love UCS helicarrier and UCS Slave 1. If you can, get this set. It's a 60 dollar deal since it should normally be $310 considering price per piece. I hope LEGO makes a tour car and jeep set that would fit in the tire tracks. That set could be $100 with about 1000 pieces and could include Donald Genaro and exclusive versions of Lex and Tim. Nearly perfect set, keep up the amazing stuff.

For all fans of the original (1993) JP this is a product that I would 100% recommended however, as stated in the title, there are some design flaws that I will now address:1) so much of the detail is in the vignettes at the back of the gate - but when you have it on display you can’t see them - and so there was really no point in having them in the first place (for most customers that will buy this, it will be displayed on a shelf - and so you can only really show off the back if you have a 360 degree display). It would have been better to have the back of the gate greyed out and then to have those iconic scenes built as a separate row or column.2) The T-rex’s Teeth are too small - they should probably have been about twice the length that they were made.3) ... Otherwise it just falls down and to the centre - the ball joint that connects the head and neck is not very good.4) The neck of the T-Rex should have been connected through a ball joint so that it can be positioned at different angles, as opposed to just ‘up and down’. (The ball joints that connect the tail are excellent, so I’m not quite sure what happened with the ‘head-neck’ connection?)5) One of the scenes for the vignettes is the toilet in which the lawyer, Donald Gennaro gets eaten - however he is not included in the set, but all of the other scenes have their required characters.6) Dr Ian Malcolm’s torso piece is not as high quality as his face and leg pieces.7) I really feel like Donald Gennaro, Robert Muldoon, Lex and Timmy should have been in this set.8) There are tyre tracks for the base of the build which you can see if you zoom in, there should have been the iconic Jeep Wrangler to sit on that - which would be able to fit: Ellie, Ian and Robert. (with the way that I’ve positioned my Rex, it would have recreated the scene from the film where they are being chased)With all of that said, this was still a brilliant set. It had a great build flow and I would recommend this to any JP fan - those were just things that I picked up.I would really love to see Lego continue making more Jurassic Park sets, as opposed to Jurassic World sets, like this one. Preferably designed for adults (16+), over childrenThere are so many more scenes from the film that can be used and made into large sets: maybe a large design for the visitor centre, the sick triceratops, the battle at the end where the three raptors surround the main characters and then Rexy saves the day, raptors in the kitchen hunting Lex and Timmy - I have seen this set before, but it would be better if there was a more detailed build aimed at adults - with an intricate design for the raptors. The two T-rex’s Destroying the trailer and ripping Eddy apart from JP2.Maybe even a Spinosauros from JP3 that could scale to this t-rex.Large, individual JP dinosaurs would also be cool

Once I finished this build it automatically became my favorite Lego set in my collection.Pros--The Easter egg inside the tyrannosaur build-All of the scenes in the back of the gate-The price of the set is also very fair, with about 14 pence for each piece-The minifigure selection is also very good, with lots of exclusive figures that fans of both Jurassic park and Lego would enjoy having in their collection-The mechanism for the gate is also very well doneCons--The set could have included a Lex, Tim or Muldoon minifigure, just so the build could have all of the main characters from the books and the films.-As the set is the Jurassic park gate the sticker for the t-rex plaque should have park on it rather than worldOverall, this is a brilliant set ... First off, I would like to say I'm a big fan of legos, but even more I'm obsessed with jurrasic park. Finding this build was so exciting and I was in high hopes. The features are amazing, the fact they included hidden scenes from the movie in this build just hyped me up even more. I was extremely disappointed when my box came in. First opening the box, I find bag 10 completely ripped open. I didn't think of doing anything until I got to that bag to see if any pieces were missing, since I didn't see any loose pieces in the box itself. However, by bag 7, I find even more pieces missing from a bag that wasn't open. The first step of building from bag 7 already had 2 missing pieces. Spending this much money and finding these types of mistakes is completely unacceptable in my opinion.
I have been eyeing this set up for quite a while. Not for the giant brick built T-Rex but for the gate with all the numerous film references on the rear. Jurassic Park definitely features wuite high on my Top Ten list of films that make me happy so I have kept looking at this and sighing and now I finally got it and the build started in pretty short order.Fred, the T-Rex (no idea why Fred but he seems to like it) was an incredible build. I did think he would be a little wobbly but the balance on this figure is incredible - he is displayed in quite a high traffic area and being an old property the floorboards tend to eb a bit "springy" but he has yet to come crashing off the shelf or do more than waggle his tail a bit. The mouth is openable but I will admit to going for the full on roar setting rather than posing him in a less threatening manner (he knows that toilet with a tasty snack is just on the back of the gate). The mini figures are really well realised and definitely bring a Lego flair to recognisable characters. My favourite is the print on the front of Dennis Nedry which gives the illusion of a podgy belly. For some reason the hairy chested Ian Malcolm makes me a little uncomfortable but it does make the figure instantly recognisable.I did have some issues getting the sides of the gate lined up correctly to create the rock face look. Took a bit of fiddling and careful angling but I got there in the end. Each little room is a joy of reference to the film and Lego did manage to get their toilet in there (what IS their obsession?). Only downside is there is no vehicle for the track that runs through the gate centre, just needed that to make it complete and my MOC skills really aren't up to it.Very large and impressive set and makes a wonderful display talking point.Number Of Pieces: 3120Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.07Build Time: 8.5 Hours
Its awesome and if you can get it at a decent price, its the most worthwhile way to get all the original mini figures. It just roars with movie nostalgia. The T-Rex is impressively big and the gate looks awesome. Just looking at the set makes you hear the theme music. Worth the money, worth the time and full of nostalgia.
It's great that Lego is now putting out classic Jurassic Park sets. Jurassic Park is a part of many older Lego fan's childhoods and is undoubtedly the superior film. This T-rex model is engaging and looks fantastic, the gate is hefty, functional and full of neat little surprises for the die-hard fan, the minifigures are impeccably detailed. Hammond's cheeky surety is perfectly etched across his face, Ian Malcolm is sweating with fear from his t-rex encounter, Nedry's alternate venom-sprayed face is a great touch. I could go on and on about the minifigures, it doesn't even bother me that they were not able to include a jeep.Yes, this could have been a slam dunk, except for one fatal flaw...the iconic Jurassic Park logo on the gate is NOT a printed piece, but two ... This means that if you cannot precisely get it on, your set will look bad. Even the most dexterous of us will find it not looking quite right. What's more, in several years, the sticker will undoubtedly peel and you will be out of luck unless you managed to buy an extra off eBay or BrickLink. To me, this is unacceptable for a set that costs $250.00, especially since for Lego Ideas, they were perfectly willing to do a fully-printed 8x16 tile for the pop-up book cover. It makes no sense and I am very disappointed in Lego.
My building block model Jurassic Park T-Rex rampage came in a timely matter at stated by the order. Came in a well package, padded container. The block came in multiple bags needed to assemble it and order. The manual with well package and not damage. Enjoy billing the set and a great addition to my collection.Recommend this to any building block enthusiast who will and you couldn't find the original set due to its being retired.Well I would like to thank the My building block shop for my order.
Having not touched lego for nearly 20 years I saw this set pop up on my Instagram feed.I'm a massive jurassic park having owned the films in every medium from vhs to digital to just about anything I can find related to itWhen I saw this I ordered straight away.It has to be the most fun I have had with lego and restarted a love i never knew I had been missing (bought like 8 sets since)I started with the rex and just loved the scale of it to and the fact is very stable and is more suitable for being moved around or played with. I loved it so much that when my cat knocked it over I was happy to rebuild it!The gate itself is where the magic is, some parts are a little fiddly like the leaves and forna for the decoration and the constant repetition for the gate ... I loved it so much that when my cat knocked it over I was happy to rebuild it!The gate itself is where the magic is, some parts are a little fiddly like the leaves and forna for the decoration and the constant repetition for the gate itself gets a bit old. But when you build the individual scenes from the movie its great to see it come to life. Little details like the Mr arnolds arm in the power breaker room or the broken egg shells at the top of the gate just really make this setReally hoping they make more sets in the jurassic park / world of this quality and more adult focused. Raptor paddock next, Ford explorer or lost world trailers ?
