A perfect diorama, but sadly overpriced

This diorama is such a beautiful collectible piece ! I love the fact that the walls are quite high compared to the minifigs. Little walls would have been a real turn off. The rusty wall design is really well made too. Even if the dianoga is very simply made (quite a bit lazy on that one lol), I think it is still pretty cool that LEGO thought of including this character (if we can call it a character). A lot a cool details. But I am not giving 5 stars on that one. The diorama itself deserve 5 stars for sure. But...the price of it...sadly too overpriced I think. I know it is Star Wars, and I know it is a heavy trademark, etc, but I mean...still too overpriced for it...The diorama is pretty light. I feel a bit ashamed for buying it at full price to be honest. I pulled the trigger on these after being targeted to death on Facebook. Thought that this set warranted the extra case. PROS: *It looks incredible. The Trash Compactor background adds depth to the set and looks good in a way the clear case couldn't. *It's sturdy enough to stack another set of the same size or smaller on it if that's your game.* Once you figure out the orientation of the corner cubes, its quick and easy to assemble. *Only got compliments at work when people see them. CONS: *There was a manufacturing flaw on one of the top acrylic corners. It's minor enough I was able to force things into position with a slight bend in the acrylic. I'm sure the site would replace if I wanted, but truthfully I really would not like to wait another month for the part ... MoreI pulled the trigger on these after being targeted to death on Facebook. Would have saved time had I seen them first. *It took over a month for these to arrive. (I assume because they struck gold with this idea and they're backlogged.) *Only after having it assembled for a few days did I realize the baseplate has two pegs dedicated to anchoring the set in position, as it was not indicated on the website or instructions. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE MANUFACTURER: *Add cloth gloves for the acrylic. It's very hard not to get fingerprints all over the case while assembling and it would save customers like me a lot of time with a microfiber cloth and soapy water. *Add a "instructions in this box" sticker for multiple case orders. *Add 4 studs to the baseplate to fully secure these and other sets like it. I could see picking it up at an angle and it coming loose if I had to move it. *Add a version without the character studs in front. This set doesn't make sense to put the Star Wars minifig crew in front of the set rather than in it. CONCLUSION: Buy it, it's well worth the manufacturing delay. Also, slowly cry into your wallet because it's hard to go forward buying any of the Lego sets meant for display and not come back here for more.

With most reviews focusing exclusively on the price alone, I thought I would write a review focusing on the actual set. Because it’s a pretty terrific set. The scene itself is a fun iconic moment that was a joy to recreate and LEGO did a really excellent job making the actual trash compactor look good. The varying colors on the walls really creates a nice effect. The only odd choice was the use of orange “lights” on the doors when the scene and (curiously) the picture on the box feature red lights. The space junk on the floor is nice and cluttered with a variety of pieces and was surprisingly fun to build. The sliding feature is also quite fun and gives the option of displaying condensed or normal. Overall the set is quite small, but it looks fantastic. An expensive let-down

Let me start with, I actually Really Like this Lego set, it simply let me down.Firstly the book- missing an instruction for part of the build, fail. Stapled unlike the lesser costing Dagobah’s & already middle pages fell out during build, fail.Secondly could this Lego have been more lacking? No creature, nor inkling of a tendril nor eye, guess I’m lucky Dagobah had a spare piece or 2 maybe I have to build my own…Worst of all? This one costs the most of the 3 released!!!I mean come on at least give us a helmet or 2 for Han & Luke? This Lego looks so cool, why did it have to prove so disappointing? The only reason I can hope it fails the market after seeing other reviews are maybe it will be of Great monetary value in 20 years like other Star Wars items I now own ... MoreLet me start with, I actually Really Like this Lego set, it simply let me down.Firstly the book- missing an instruction for part of the build, fail. Still working on this set but absolutely love it. A legendary scene from Star Wars: A New Hope with this Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama set. It is packed with authentic details, including moving walls and a dianoga’s head. Set includes Luke Skywalker and Han Solo both dressed as Stormtroopers, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and C-3PO and R2-D2. The latter two will be staged on the backside of the diorama at the compactor’s controls trying to switch it off. Has a rating for 18+ but maybe it's just because of the number of pieces (802 total). The Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama set is a remarkable creation that portrays a memorable scene from Star Wars: A New Hope. It is meticulously designed with authentic details, such as movable walls and a dianoga's head. The set also includes figurines of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2. The latter two are situated at the back of the diorama, attempting to switch off the compactor's controls. Okay before anyways me let me say this. This is not your average child friendly or simple chump build. This set is meant for people who love lego and specifically love Star Wars: A New Hope. If you don't absolutely love it you will not justify buying this set. A New Hope is my comfort movie so when I saw this I knew I had to buy it. Let's get to the actual lego review.Build:Pretty creative. The mechanics of the building are okay. It's simple technic and doesn't contain anything a normal free gift set doesn't contain. The walls seem like they have a lot of details but in the grand scheme they seem somewhat lackluster. They do resemble the trash compactor in the actual scene. No dianoga or that trash compactor monster so sadge. I actually didn't expect lego to put ... MoreOkay before anyways me let me say this. No dianoga or that trash compactor monster so sadge. I actually didn't expect lego to put C3PO and R2. Yes I know they're figures but like nice good inclusion of it. Although the diorama couldn't they have added some stuff to the outside of the trash compactor.Figures:They're figures. Chewbaca is the generic wookie printing with the bandolier. Han and Luke are pretty cool. Stormtroopers and all but there's nothing really that unique about them. You could literally buy a cheaper set like 75271. Take Luke's head and hairpiece put it on a stormtrooper and voila you have stormtrooper luke. Leia is nice I don't think I've seen her in a while maybe I'm wrong but eh. C3PO and R2 a nice touch but honestly mid.Price: Like I said before I'm a huge star wars fan so I had to buy this. But after carefully thinking about it for a little bit. Also getting yelled at for spending around a 100 for this. I've been questioning myself about this. I think at most this set should be around 60 maybe 70 dollars. The price to ratio is horrible and second off half the pieces are the small pieces like studs and tiles. Like come on.

Overpriced rush job

So this set is obviously pricey, but looks to be worth it at first glance. Looks can be deceiving. This set was a huge let down, especially considering the price. It failed to capture the movie moment with the reprinted figures and it failed to entertain with the build experience. The set looks awkward both closed and open, with too much open space in either case. That rhymed... unintentional. The closing action is manual on each side, which means the poorly planned out slide action catches on at least one point making the whole thing feel awkward. I even reworked the set to make sure I didn't mess up anywhere. Alas it was just a sloppy set up. Why no advanced duel open/close mechanism such as the ones featured in multiple hidden side sets? Or a gear based crank on ... MoreSo this set is obviously pricey, but looks to be worth it at first glance. Looks can be deceiving. This set was a huge let down, especially considering the price. Somewhat Accurate, but Disappointing

I can't in good faith recommend this product. I had VIP points saved up and used them to help purchase these dioramas, but even with a large discount, I'm not happy with this purchase.Positives: The build appears relatively accurate to the source material, and the walls close in, which is a great play feature that works well.Negatives: The character's faces are either content or mildly disgruntled, and don't really line up with the fear you'd expect from being in a room with walls closing in. Reusing the available faces is fine, but not for this price. The left and right walls feel unfinished, with lots of exposed anti-studs. A couple of strategically placed inverted tiles and a bit of greebling could have helped out a lot. The other problem with this is that ... MoreI can't in good faith recommend this product. A couple of strategically placed inverted tiles and a bit of greebling could have helped out a lot. The other problem with this is that if you display this set somewhere where people won't be seeing it face-on, these ugly unfinished-looking walls will obscure their view of the set.R2 and 3PO feel like very unnecessary inclusions here, and while I appreciate the back-printing on R2, I already have a better C3PO with the landspeeder I purchased alongside this. The worst value for money set I've ever purchased by far over my entire lifetime of buying LEGO sets.
