I started this set on Thursday night and continued building it into Friday through some of the day. In total it was around 10-12 hours of build time. This is the biggest set I’ve ever gotten since I’ve been buying Star Wars legos since 2007 and it is also the absolute best set in my opinion. The prequels and the clone wars show will always have a place in my heart as I grew up with them, and oh boy this set does not disappoint. I may have lost a piece or possibly the set was short one, but I had one in my collection of loose legos anyways, but either way it wouldn’t have taken at all from the build experience. I see a lot of people complaining about the fact they thought this would be the only set with captain rex when it turned out not to be, however it is a ... MoreI started this set on Thursday night and continued building it into Friday through some of the day. I could see in just the instructions alone the immense amount of work that went into designing this set and I am extremely satisfied with the end product and every step to get there. If you haven’t gotten this set I would highly recommend it be the best to add to your collection.

When I found out that this was going to be a Lego set (not to mention a large one) I knew I was going to have to buy it pretty much immediately. Am I glad I did. This was such a fun set to build and as soon as I finished, I knew I would of loved to build another one. They did great on the detail and it seems to be a pretty solid build once completed (I remember back when they released the Imperial Star Destroyer for the first time, how frustrated I got when building it due to some poor design elements that they have done a good job resolving since then)Now the reason I left this as a 4 Star overall and not 5 star is for a few reasons (all are technically pretty minor reasons and wouldn't have stopped me from loving this build)1. I'm honestly disappointed in the box it came in, It could have been built a little stronger, the actual design of the box is great though.2. Provide a few 501st clone troopers! For a set as expensive as this, it is a little sad we only get 2 figurines.3. Lego- GET RID OF THE STICKERS! just print it on the Lego piece itself. it will look better and there is no real point in having stickers.Last and this is less a con and more of a potential process improvement. If a set is missing pieces or came with the wrong pieces (such as mine did) make it possible so that we can pick the pieces up from a local Lego store! the online process itself is great but it was saddening to have to wait until it arrived so I could continue the build, of which I then almost had to wait another 10 days because there was actually 2 pieces missing in mine (that being said, only missing 2 pieces is amazing in itself)I also would have loved to see what should be in each bag as I get to them since I like to lay the pieces out before I build. that is really just a personal thing though and no nock on the directions themselves.Overall it is an amazing build any any star wars lover will love this build

I’m just very torn on this overall build. The four larger engines in the back noticeably sag. I had multiple issues with connection points breaking free when attempting to attach. This go to the point of having to completely deconstruct one side to be able to have a better view and handhold. However, even then I still had instances of attachment points breaking free under their own weight. Under the weight the set is suppose to sit under - NOT. Good sign. This go to a point where I had to use super glue in an effort to have things hold together. I looked forward to this build for close to a year and other than the Titanic and Eiffel Tower, this is my largest Star wars focused build. Overall, the product looks great. It's a beast in size and exciting to look at. Build and play, however, is where this product suffers. While designers did a great job of building an overall frame with technik parts, I desire yet more structural integrity for panels and the tower. While step-by-step build may not suffer, you will be frustrated when putting pieces back after they fall off, as anything less than precision handling will pop-off another piece! With such delicacy, this is definitely only a display set, so play value takes a big hit. However, if you are like me, and fine with super gluing a few pieces here and there to improve structural integrity, it's not as big of a deal. I absolutely intend to let my son play with it from time to time, and I just ... MoreOverall, the product looks great. It's a beast in size and exciting to look at. Bleck.
Alongside the UCS Gunship, this was the most excited I was ever for a lego set. A huge Star Wars and lego fan, this was a dream come true to someone that was 7 when the Revenge of the Sith came out.The build was fun, and was surprisingly quick, I think it only took me about 10 hours, HOWEVER I feel like Lego really cut some corners here.My main complains are there are mutliple parts of the ship that are not well secured. The way you secure the wings of the ship somehow let them be uneven, you probably wouldn't notice if just looking at it on my shelf, but it bugged me a lot during the build. The side of the ship, with the hanger bays, is only actually connected at one spot. So both ends of these are free hanging and you have to just do your best to line it ... MoreAlongside the UCS Gunship, this was the most excited I was ever for a lego set. But surely when they are mass producing expensive sets they can make a few special pieces.I would still recommend this set to any advid collector, defintely check the dimensions of whatever shelf you plan on putting it on!
So I normally don’t do reviews, but I felt I needed to on this set. It was extremely fun and challenging to build. The look of it is very pleasing to the eye. And it’s massive! But, there are several things that Lego could’ve done better or completely different. 1-Putting parts of it together can be very sketchy. If you’re not extremely careful, parts just pop right off while trying to attach other parts. 2- The stands are not built very well for such a large display. They should’ve put it from 2 to 4 stands to distribute the weight better and bulked them up a bit. 3-Now this is my biggest gripe about the entire build, the engines. When you first put them together and attach them they are very nice, but after a few weeks of sitting they start to sag, extremely sag. ... MoreSo I normally don’t do reviews, but I felt I needed to on this set. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t even tough them for fear of them falling even more. So overall I would recommend it only if you’re going to move it once, MAYBE twice. Anymore than that and it’s a danger of having pieces fall off.
I purchased the model this year. The build and end product went beyond even my expectations. It stands finished in a gloriously imposing manner.Very firm and tight build. Even a family member said to me this one is sturdier than the AT-AT (which the family member usually walks into). For further phases of this build I would recommend (being very picky as it’s hard to improve upon near perfection) :- consider adding an interior and pushing the set price up to £750- Exclusive minifigures (as stated)- The largest two engines seem to hang ever so slightly.- the mechanism for the underbelly to stick to the mainframe works quite well, but could be tighter/nicer.- the attachment of the ‘meat’ (darker grey) in between the ‘sandwich’ (lighter grey) bits of the ... MoreI purchased the model this year. The front dark grey at the front of the ship just slots in, another attachment to keep it in place would be nice. The dark grey side bits could be actually connected to the mainframe. Currently behind the hanger bay is the only connection to the mainframe, for both sides.- the only small bits that flick out are below the wings on either side. They could be added more securely to the build.Negatives, none really, others have mentioned waistcape which I do agree with but this is a small detail. The bigger issue would be if the exact same figure comes in the 2024 microfighter. But since the instructions said these are exclusive minifigures I would hope the rumours are incorrect. I do think the UCS sets should contain an exclusive figure - as do lego with putting an exclusive Luke in X-Wing, C-3PO in landspeeder etc.So absolutely no negatives if the Rex is exclusive as you said. This is all besides the point really as the venator is marvellous. Imperious. 5 stars.
Gonna list the few cons that I have before moving on to positives (which is basically the whole set), because while there aren't many negatives they absolutely need to be addressed.1) Stickers. This is a $650 US set, and here in Canada it's $850. Every single piece that needs extra detail should be printed, this isn't up for discussion. Other themes get that treatment - Star Wars sets should get the same. They aren't as discolored as reviews might have you believe, but it's enough to be noticeable.2) Rex. Lego, sincerely, what the hell. We all know you can make waist capes, there should've been one here. The pauldron is also too large and completely hides the arm printing. Plus, the helmet holes really are a sore point. When your slogan is "only the best is good ... MoreGonna list the few cons that I have before moving on to positives (which is basically the whole set), because while there aren't many negatives they absolutely need to be addressed.1) Stickers. Plus, the helmet holes really are a sore point. When your slogan is "only the best is good enough", this is unacceptable.3) I haven't really seen anyone mention this, but the bridge has this irritating tendency to bow slightly upwards. I don't know what, if anything, could be done to resolve this, but once you notice it it's super distracting and I really wish it wasn't.All that to say - these are three, incredibly small nitpicks for an otherwise outstanding build. The stand is far sturdier than the ISD from a few years ago, I never feel like this thing will fall over or break on me. It's very, VERY sturdy. The panels are going nowhere, same with the engines, which are absolutely gorgeous. LEGO killed it here, these things barely sag at all and are simply stunning. The printed plaque, 20th anniversary brick and Yularen are all welcome additions too. Detailing is stellar on all sides of the set, even the underside which you'd barely ever look at, and very well done.As to people complaining about no interior - honestly, I don't really see why. It's a little hard to appreciate until you have it in hand, but there is zero room for an interior to exist without compromising the exterior aesthetic or the structural integrity of the ship, both of which are FAR more important to a UCS set.For me, as someone who grew up watching the Clone Wars series and has been waiting on this set for probably ten years, if not longer, this is the easiest decision to buy I have ever had with a lego set. If you have the money, and the space (because this thing is HUGE), then I see basically no reason not to get it. Even with the small nitpicks, this is by far the best Clone Wars set since the Dropship with AT-OT - if not even better than that one - and I would highly recommend this to anyone who has ever appreciated the Clone Wars or the prequels.
When I saw this huge set was being released I couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty of it. I have never spent this much money on Lego before but when I saw this set was releasing I had to get it. As a massive prequels fan and clone wars fan I couldn’t even believe it was a thing. I loved this whole build from start to finish, it was very fun to see the whole build come along. The unboxing experience of this was excellent with great box art and a nice description within the instructions about the venator class star destroyer. When I saw there were 48 bags to this set I knew this wasn’t going to be a 4 day build it would have to be 2 weeks. I would thoroughly recommend this set to anyone thinking about it, as long as you have the space to put it. I would thoroughly recommend this set to anyone thinking about it, as long as you have the space to put it. The Captain Rex and Admiral Yularen figures are really good my only issue is that I would’ve preferred a cloth waist cape instead of printed to make him look like better but it really shouldn’t be a deal breaker and doesn’t matter too much to me as he looks really good anyways. I also understand that this set is mean to be a display set but I would’ve loved for there to be at least and interior you can show off. The hangar being able to open would be really cool but I feel it’s a missed opportunity with this build, or they could have added just a tiny interior which could’ve added to it a little bit. I do understand there is a technic beam down the middle for support but I feel it could’ve been done in one way or another Overall I don’t really have any complaints about this build apart from them it’s very minute compared to how great this set is. I love it so much and it’s a good centre piece for my bedroom. It has also got me back into Star Wars Lego again. Overall 10/10 set so much fun to build
I really like and dont like this light kit, here is my reasoningGood:Use of Ring lights for the large enginesUse of Yellow lights for the hangar baysUse of Light blue lights for the smaller enginesBad:No lighting for Main Guns (I added these via DIY components)Use of the Dimmer Effects board seems a bit pointless in my opionionUse of White lights in areas that could have used Light Blue lights, (Bridge and side lights)All in all, i think this set was a little rushed, with added lights for the main and possibilty secondary guns, as well as using Light blue lights for where there are transparent 2x1 peices, i would still happily pay $200 for a set like this. I still think Light My Bricks did a good job on this set, but could have done better.
