Awesome build and model

This set was fun to build. I was impressed by the amazing detail and working parts like independent suspension, V-6 engine, and rear differential. I would have preferred it to be black or a more traditional color like Ford’s Ruby Red, since the Speed Champions Ford Raptor came out in blue.Other than the color, I find the steering mechanism coming out of the roof a bit out of place. I think Lego did also, so they excluded it from the artwork on the outside of the box.Overall I’m very happy with this purchase. This is an amazing set with excellent value for the piece count and unique pieces at that. Great tires on a great looking model! Make one in BLACK and I will get another one!

Cool Truck. Poor Steering

I wanted to comment about the steering performance of the truck. Bought this truck for my son and he built it in about 3days. The front of the truck is heavy and I think the suspension and poorly designed steering causes the wheels to bow outward and makes driving on carpet extremely difficult.Fearing that we missed a linkage step we dissembled the truck and rebuilt to discover the same flaw. No steps were missed and all pieces accounted for. I think the front suspension / steering make driving difficult. I think the designer should have beefed up the linkage better.First Lego set we have not been 100% happy with.

Fix front steering

The poorly designed tie rods and plastic pieces allow for too much bending when trying to move the truck. Any pressure on the front of the truck causes the wheels to bow outwards in opposite directions, preventing the truck from moving. All in all it was a fun build but a disappointment at the end when the truck could not be pushed straight. Please come up with a fix for this. Maybe another linkage in the front unused openings where the ball joints were used in the back of the front wheels. There is too much wiggle room and flexing of the pieces for the front suspension to be tight and work as it should.

Good build, well designed.
21 November 2021

This was my first build of an "adult level Lego kit". I enjoyed it quite a bit, good to see that these exist. The Ford F150 was fun to build and it looked good with a few exceptions. First off no one buys a truck that is not 4x4, this should have been in the build, second steering should have tied to the steering wheel. While the build was tougher that basic Legos it was not as difficult as I would have liked. I tried a CaDo model too and absolutely loved the much harder build. Lastly, the Ford F150 was priced right, but some of Legos bigger builds are downright costly and too expensive; I have means and I won't pay that much for them, which means Legos is losing potential buyership opportunities. Please keep creating adult level kits, but keep them at a better price point.

Great Details, great display piece
29 December 2021

I received this as a Christmas gift, and I can't be happier. As I said in the title, this set has great details, such as the display in the front, and the way the pistons work is accurate as well. The way the suspension in the back is built is one of my favourite parts of the car (along with the pistons and a few other parts). The stickers add detail, even if they are frustrating in places. The only thing I don't like is the big gear sticking out of the roof that you use to turn the front wheels. The other technic vehicle I have, the Land Rover, has pretty much the same thing, however, it looks better as there are other things on the roof. At least on the Ford you can easily remove it, and I'm planning to modify it some day. Anyway, I think it's a great set, would ... MoreI received this as a Christmas gift, and I can't be happier. Missing pieces multiple times!
22 December 2022

Got only a few steps until bag 2 and was missing 2 pieces needed before I could continue. Ordered replacement parts via the lego website and got them no issue (standard mail 7-10 business days after waiting 4 days for it to ship). Got the pieces and continued but once I got to the second step in bag 3... MISSING 3 PARTS again! I dont even want to continue anymore. I lost all interest in building. I was okay with the first set of missing pieces but not when I complete the dashboard and get two steps into the third bag to be missing 3 parts. Now im afraid my husbands Airbus is going to be missing pieces again not long after after he gets his replacement part that was not in the kit.

Overall good kit
24 October 2021

I purchased this kit due to being a fun looking built, not overly large (like the Bugatti), and a reasonable price. It meets all of these standards and in that sense, I’m very satisfied with it.However I was let down by other things I discovered along the build. For one, it is not 4 wheel drive. This may seem small, but the real raptor is and this should have at least be clearly stated in the description. Also, the it had hand-of-god steering, but the wheel inside does nothing. This is minor, but the doors and seats are pretty good, a functioning steering wheel would be nice. Finally, I know this is a matter of taste, but the wheels and tires just do not look good. They have gone through the trouble to make other wheels and tires, this vehicle deserves a better ... MoreI purchased this kit due to being a fun looking built, not overly large (like the Bugatti), and a reasonable price. And it could be used on other off-road vehicles down the road (pun intended).Still think it’s a great performing kit overall and looks good!

Screaming down the trail

When this model was announced I immediately pre-ordered because I was so excited about the source material and the price point I thought was stellar compared to the Porsche 911 RSR. The Ford F-150 Raptor does not disappoint.I found the build to be challenging at times particularly the rear axle. I needed to reposition it four times throughout the build. Online 3D instructions would have been very helpful here, but I’m a purist and stick to the paper booklet. I’m not sure if the steering design or tire size play a role, but the turning radius is fantastic compared to similar-sized Technic models. The shaping of the hood, front end and fender flares help add to a realistic model. I think one more stage would have helped ease the part-to-bag ratio. While this isn’t a true 4WD truck, I think the price point, build experience and final product far outweigh the omission of a second differential.Thank you LEGO for another great addition to my LEGO car collection! One small issue aside from the model is I still cannot upload a picture with my review. This happened with the Classic Pickup review I did recently.

Very nice, but not without cut corners
10 March 2022

Okay, so lego finally did a licensed pickup truck, and they did it well. It has a working engine, opening doors, hood, and tailgate, hand of god steering, and very good suspension, and it looks really good. It is nice not to see the usual tires here. The suspension is definitely this set's highlight for me, it's very responsive and it works very well. The engine works well. I also like the hand of god steering, even though it means that the steering wheel is non-functional. And the price-per-piece is amazing. However, there are some cut corners. There are quite a few stickers, and not all of them look great. There is only RWD, and 4WD is one big feature of the real raptor. The engine really needs some details. There are a few awkward-looking spots, such as the holes in the roof, holes in the hood, and some out-of-place pins. And, lastly, the 18+ age rating. This set definitely looks good enough to be a display model, but it is clearly not designed to be one. Like, why put hand of god steering on a display model? Why exclude engine details from a display model? Why build a display model so strong that it will never break and can be played with all day? Why have such a straightforward building process on a set for adults? And also, this is lego technic. Lego technic has been all about functionality since 1977. Now, the 18+ Ford F-150 raptor. No functions are mentioned anywhere in the instructions or on the ghastly, all-black box. I support good aesthetics, but does lego have to forfeit functionality to achieve them? I bet this set would have had at least one additional, interesting feature if it had been released eight years ago.Overall, despite any cut corners of questionable age ratings, this is still a very good set. No matter how old you are, don't let the 18+ rating deter you, because this truck is a great display model and it is also very fun to play with. At the end of the day, this is a set worth having.

Wheels bow out - Seems like a engineering flaw?
3 December 2021

Steering linkage is over simplified. The front wheels bow out when suspension is depressed. Then the truck cannot drive as wheels are not parallel any longer - both facing outwards. I didn't see anyone else complain about this so I'm hoping Lego can advise. We looked over everything and couldn't find any flaws in our building. He has the Land Rover and loves it but is a bit disappointed at this. Can't really play with it.I wish they made it a bit more expensive/more pieces and made it better quality.Upload Photo button didn't work. Not sure if that's because I'm rating it low...
