This is a fantastic case. Great fit and finish. Very impressed. Opens up to access the battery and there is a pouch to hold an extra SD card. I know it blocks the SD card slot, and USB access port, but I haven't had to take off the case frequently given that I transfer all my files via Leicafotos app and use the external battery charger. I'm sure I will take off the case once in a blue moon, but that is not so bad. Overall, excellent choice to protect the camera and also enhances the look.

Beautiful color and design. Robot protection for the camera body as well. Recommend.

Bought this as protection for my Leica Q3. It's an expensive item but it's protecting an expensive camera. The quality is excellent, and the fit is perfect.

I love the sleek, understated look and feel of the Leica half case. It’s elegant in its simplicity, just like the Leica Q3 it’s intended for. Functionally, however, the case is kind of a mess. Everyone knows you need to unscrew the case from the baseplate to access the USB-C port door that the case covers on the left side of the camera. That’s cumbersome when on the road and don’t want to bring Leica’s bulky charger. Same to access your SD card. But Leica at least minimizes that problem with an upgraded and easy to use app, Leica Fotos. It lets you download images from your camera via USB-C or wirelessly to your mobile Lightroom and your Apple photos library. It lets you download images from your camera via USB-C or wirelessly to your mobile Lightroom and your Apple photos library. It seems to work seamlessly and eliminates the need to remove the SD card unless you want to change it, which I seldom do. So I can live with a little inconvenience charging the camera on the road without the charger. My biggest reason for the three stars is the case makes it nearly impossible to open the Q3’s tilt screen without a tool to pry it free. You need a small knife. Leica should have done a better job thinking that through. That tilt screen design has already drawn complaints because it’s hard to pull out when lying flush against the back of the camera. The case makes it impossible. Still, I prefer this case to the Oberwerth Q3 half case because it provides better protection of the camera. The Oberwerth case leaves the USB-C port door exposed and the case only partially covers the left side of the camera, a design tradeoff others may prefer in favor of USB-C access without removing the case. (Oberwerth says it has never gotten a damage complaint over this design choice.) Still, I prefer the stronger protection of the Leica case, even if it means some inconvenience when traveling. For use when not traveling, the battery charger that comes with the Q3 works fine. Batteries can be swapped out through a flap that covers the baseplate and allows access.
This case is sleek and minimalist and provides great protection, which is my priority. But the case covers the port for access to USB-C connection for charging and replacing your smart card. You need to unscrew the case and remove it to do these things. Not a deal breaker for me but others may disagree.
Like all Leica products, this is beautifully crafted of the highest quality materials, however - I have to unscrew and remove the case every time I would want to get my files on to my computer. No access to the USB port, and the card slot is blocked by the piece of plastic that houses the tripod screw mount. What a bummer - will be returning. The description on Leica's site declares: No tools are required to attach the protector, and all operating elements remain fully accessible. Apparently getting your pictures off your camera is not considered an 'operating element'.
High quality Leica build, but unfortunately for me, not functional. As stated by others, the SD card and USB slots are covered by the case, requiring complete removal of the case to simply change an SD card. The case’s attachment screw comes with a flip-up bar so that you can screw the case on without a screwdriver, but unfortunately the screw is so closely located to the edge of the magnetized battery flap, that my fingers were too big to easily screw on the case (and I don’t have big fingers). The inability to “quickly” change SD cards, or remove images off the camera with the USB connector, basically does not make this case functional for my needs. It also comes with a build-in handgrip, and edging on the bottom of the case readymade for Arca-Swiss tripods.
While the construction of this case is top-notch and fits the Q3 perfectly, I had understood that the case allowed access to all operational slots. Apparently they don't consider access to the SD card slot as important....since you must remove the case to access the SD port. Not a deal breaker....just be aware before you purchase.
I like this half-case for its sturdy and protective build quality and its sleek fit and finish. It provides great protection and looks great without drawing attention. But the case covers all access ports on the camera, which means it has to be unscrewed and removed every time you want to connect a USB-C cable or change an SD card. Not a deal breaker but probably the reason Leica is pricing this below $300. It’s cumbersome.
superb quality leather. great protection of the camera. The only thing I don't like is that covers the usb C connection and SD card slot, so it must be taken off each time if you want to have an access to that.
