I bought two of these as holiday gifts a year ago. One of these resides in CA, (away from GMA), so I’m not sure of it’s current state of functionality. However, the one here at my home, which is always a favorite with my two grandsons when they come to visit, was bent when the younger one was trying to pump it!Have no idea how this happened as it’s made of metal, but he was crushed… so GMA is buying a third one! It really has been a great top & makes a hum noise as it spins that sounds like a Locamotive!!

If this is the same top sold in 2019 at Christmas time, we were very disappointed. It was a Christmas gift, and by mid-January the interior metal 'dowel' that it spins on was bent, making it unworkable. We should have complained at the time and returned it, but easier said than done with long distance, out of state recipients.

Our grandchildren love to play with the top. They delight in making it make sounds and watching it spin. Grammy and Gramppy enjoy a toy that does not require batteries!

My grandchild went crazy about it.Brought me memories went my grandmother gave me one for Christmas of 1952.Thank you for bringing such wonderful memories.
Sent to my 2 year old granddaughter for Valentines Day. She loved it and gave me a FaceTime call so I could watch her play with it. My only negative is that I thought it would meander over a hardwood floor but it seems to just be attached to a non-removable base on which it spins. Still, tons a fun watching her face light up player with it. Hope it proves to be durable.
We got two for my sister's twin 7-month old grandbabies. (One got lost in transit but the other arrived just in time for the holidays). One of the boys absolutely adores this toy and is learning how to make it spin by himself. I'm sure when the other one arrives, it'll be double the fun!
This top did not Whistle or Hum at all. Had planned to give this to our grandchildren. Ordered two. It did spin but that was all it did. Seemed it would be a boring toy, so we returned them.
This tin humming top just isn’t nearly the size, sturdiness or quality of this sort of top in the past.I’ll be returning it. If it started “singing” earlier in the rotations and if it was louder and the humming for a longer duration, I’d be keeping it, as this sound should be a main part of the delight of such a top.Over the years, I’ve bought several for my kids and grandchildren and as gifts and the delight of a baby or tot as a good quality top spins and then starts its humming, is a treasure! I guess I have to let this fun go — unless some company decides to truly remake this sort of top in the quality it can and should be.However, I DO like the experience of Garret Wade, which I’m glad to have found, even if not happy with this top.
The top is described as Large-I was expecting an 8or9 inch as I have. I feel this was misleading. Is that size available any longer?
Large ? This is not large. It states 81/2 inches and that it is, but actually appears small. Did not measure ahead, so I am guilty. But, am disappointed in size. Check first to make sure this is what you have in mind.
