An Expensive USB-C Hub

I needed additional USB ports since I use my Lenovo 9i Slim laptop more as a desktop computer. I went with the Univeral USB-C Dock because I was hoping only to have to plug into the USB-C and be done. Then I found the dock doesn't charge my 16" laptop. Not a big deal to use my power supply. Then I found my speakers made an annoying humming sound when plugged into the dock, so I had to use my laptop stereo port. To make matters worse, I lose video quality on my external screen when I go through the dock and now plug into the HDMI port on the laptop. Only noticeable when watching movies or playing a game. Went from one connection to 4 connections into the laptop! I could have saved a lot of money had I just purchased a USB hub.

Excellent dock! My mouse and keyboard are fast and responsive (not the case with a lot of other docks that I've used). I use two external monitors plus my laptop screen with zero problems; I convert an HDMI cable to DP using a cheap adapter I got elsewhere. The charging is fast! I love how it all just plugs into one port on my laptop, making it easy to pick up and go when I need to. It's also nice not having multiple plugs and ports sticking out of my laptop making it look like it's on life support.

Great unit - couple small suggestions
18 January 2024

The ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock V2 is a great unit, I am only using it for a ThinkPad, two older monitors, and wireless mouse/keyboard but there are ample ports remaining, and it is great to have everything tucked out of the way to maintain a clean/organized desk space. The two minor areas for improvements are 1. only 1 HDMI port. With something like a dozen ports on this little device you would think they could have had a second HDMI port. It was a quick and relatively inexpensive fix, i had to purchase a HDMI-DP (display port) adapter. 2. The instructions are VERY basic, really just a couple photos, with scarce detail. It would have been awesome to note somewhere that the power cord for the dock plugged into the laptop port with the lighting bolt, and not with ... MoreThe ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock V2 is a great unit, I am only using it for a ThinkPad, two older monitors, and wireless mouse/keyboard but there are ample ports remaining, and it is great to have everything tucked out of the way to maintain a clean/organized desk space. As a first time Lenovo Dock person, I had no idea. Assumed I was to plug it into the port with the plug in. The result was every 10 seconds would get a disconnect usb tone/sound. For two days this drove me crazy, and two different IT people were unable to trouble shoot/remedy it (despite their best efforts). The third IT support person figured it out - and I am eternally grateful. So maybe just update the instructions with that one little missing piece of information.

This thing is awful. I bought this to replace a 40AS hoping that this would solve my issue but it has caused new issues. First, my computer (Lenovo P15s) struggles to wake up from sleep with the exact same settings on my previous dock. The HDMI cable that I was using with my previous dock no longer works with this one and had to be replaced. And this dock for some reason will not do HDR with my monitor anymore even though it is fully capable of it. The only brightside is I do not seem to be having the USB connection issues I was having with the 40AS. Fixed 1 problem to cause at least 3 more. I am reasonably tech savvy and even took this to my IT department to see if I was doing anything wrong and they confirmed I had hooked everything up correct and had every last ... MoreThis thing is awful. Power wattage for Device is to Low
22 October 2023

I recently made a purchase to Lenovo. This was almost a $3000 purchase which included I think pad, Slim, adapter, and Universal USB hub. The items chosen were through the website, there’s an option to choose accessories that work with your device. I was very hopeful that this USB hub would be able to take care of my mobile docking station needs. However, once this was in place, I received an error that the wattage associated with this was too low for the laptop. if I had known that I needed a USB hub that had 170 W instead of the lower wattage, I would’ve purchased that. In addition, I paid for the premium support for three years which allows 24 seven coverage. Thinkpad and Lenovo not compatible-that is bad

Very disappointed with Lenovo on this one. I have a Lenovo Flex 5 Ideapad. I recently retired my Dell desktop and 3 screen work station and wanted to use my Lenovo full time. I decided to get a docking station directly from Lenovo so I would have the best alignment of technology. Or so I thought. After trying for many hours with Lenovo tech support and my expensive tech support for my business I gave up trying to get my 3 monitors to work with this setup. My IT guy was blown away it would not work. I was too. Lenovo support told me it was not possible and was possible and then not possible on three separate tech calls. Here is the irony. Very disappointed.
21 March 2024

I purchased this Lenovo dock to use with my Lenovo Yoga 6 (13", 7) laptop. I consulted with Lenovo sales prior to the purchase and they recommended this dock and assured me that it was compatible. The unit did not support my laptop (would not recognize my external monitors) and had to be returned. I was then told that Lenovo does not make any docks that are compatible with my unit. I subsequently purchased an Anker dock that worked perfectly.I was asked to provide Lenovo with feedback on the service received. I did so, but never heard back from them.Very disappointing when a vendor can't give correct information on their own products.

Works as expected

These docks work as expected and include all the needed cables and charges to use them. If you are looking for a dock to use that just works with Lenovo laptops then you have found it. A word of caution though. If you are wanting to run 3 monitors with tis dock make sure your laptop supports 3 monitors at the resolution and refresh rate you want. This dock supports up to 2x 3840x2160 @60Hz, 1x 3840x2160 @30Hz currently. If your laptop does not support 3 x 4k displays then you may be limited to 2 x 4k displays and 1x 1080p mirroring the laptop screen. I do wish the USBC cable was at least 1.5m instead of 1m. We use these for hot seating in our office. I bought this about a week ago to replace my previous set up. I was using the Dell WD19TB docking station for my Dell XPS 15 (2019) as well as a Lenovo USB-C docking station for use on my ThinkPad T14 work laptop. I had both of those docking stations connected to a dedicated dual HDMI KVM so that I could switch between my two laptops with a single button or hot key press. The system worked well enough, but it required so many wires and was expensive to buy with two docking stations and the KVM. So when I received the 4950 from VisionTek I had high hopes. I'm pretty happy so far, however the directions are not good with this product, so I have not been able to complete the setup fully. I can see both laptops at the same time, one on each screen but I am unable to use the mouse and keyboard between the two. It would be nice to know step by step what software needs to be used. if you are going to buy this, just plan on getting in touch with tech support to use full functions. Otherwise so far this a great purchase. I only wish there was a way to power on both laptops from the device like I could with my two docking stations.
