(Rewarded Review) Does A Bit Of Everything....Insane Value

This is one of the most diverse pieces of tech I own. While I don't know if it could be someone's daily driver, it does so much so well that the value and usefulness makes it an easy 5 star. It is light, easy to toss in bag, work on documents, send emails, do some light gaming and Google has really improved Chrome OS; the ability to detach it and use it as a multimedia device and the inclusion of a stylus and keyboard make the value just staggering. As the title suggests, this device does a bit of everything, and the value is simply unparalleled.

(Rewarded Review) Phenomenal device. Just not for me.

My use case for a tablet or 2 in 1 device is mainly home use for browsing, watching videos and movies, emails, and the occasional document reading. I purchased this after having a couple chrome os devices and wanting to test out the new Kompanio processor. The device itself is very well made, has a great quality keyboard, and I love that it has a headphone jack. There's abbsolutely no excuse for companies not to put these on tablets. My issue is that for almost $600 CAD, this device is just overkill for me. I'll use the stylus probably once a month, maybe. I'll also use it without the keyboard most of the time. Which means taking it on an off often. Finally, with the stand cover and keyboard, it's fairly hefty. I'd rather save $200-$300 and get a cheap/decent tablet.

Fantastic chomeOS tablet! I have had every Duet tablet Lenovo has made and they've all been good but I always wanted just a bit more muscle. The newest Duet doesn't disappoint.I occasionally swap in this Duet to use as my work computer and pare it up with a large screen and a BT keyboard. Handles the load really well.

(Rewarded Review) Very Happy
24 October 2024

I have been very happy with the Chromebook. It is lightweight and very portable. I use it primarily for email, surfing the net and google suite apps. The keyboard works really well, I am using it with an external mouse most of the time.

Decent device but weak keyboard connection
21 November 2024

Decent 'Surface' like tablet. I like the screen and the smaller form factor. Keyboard is good for the price. Biggest issue is that they used some seriously WEAK magnets on the keyboard connection. If you try and 'whip' it around like you can do with other devices like this, it will go flying across the room and hit someone in the head!

Good device if you can accept some compromises
2 November 2024

Happy with purchase but as a relatively low cost device you need to accept some compromises. From my use so far, it's a little slow to start up apps - the EMMC storage seems to be the main bottleneck here. But once everything is started up things seem to operate fairly well. Display is nice although I noticed a very minor screen imperfection, but it's only really noticeable against very dark colours. Audio I'm pleasantly surprised and it's great that it comes with an audio jack unlike older versions. I like the versatility of the Duet and it will be very useful for me travelling extensively in the near future.

[Rewarded Review] Convenient and Capable. Now about that hinge...
31 October 2024

I bought this 2024 Duet to replace my cherished Samsung Chromebook Pro (2017, 12" convertible, backlit keyboard, internal stylus, rigid hinge, metal). Sadly, it hit the Chrome deathdate. I then bought the Samsung 2 360 but its weight, size, crappy stylus support, feel, and performance made me happy to give it away.I love the solid feel of this Duet. I had considered the Duet 3. Glad i waited. I thought/hoped the hinge was stiffer, but...no. The back cover with magnetic stylus ridges is inspiringly secure and grippy. I got a canvas sleeve that I transport this in, so it slips into my pack smoother (and also guards the stylus). Though an internal docked stylus would've been great, I recognize that it would've been extremely thin and fatiguing to use (like the Pro). ... MoreI bought this 2024 Duet to replace my cherished Samsung Chromebook Pro (2017, 12" convertible, backlit keyboard, internal stylus, rigid hinge, metal). I got a canvas sleeve that I transport this in, so it slips into my pack smoother (and also guards the stylus). Though an internal docked stylus would've been great, I recognize that it would've been extremely thin and fatiguing to use (like the Pro). I love the magnetic precision when coupling the pieces together. I got the 8gb ram and that's absolutely essential, I feel. The 128gb is more than i can use (it's a Chromebook after all). The other features are pretty much what pro reviewers are saying.Issues...-Chrome (not Lenovo) classifies 8gb & 10"screen as a "premium tablet" so all (most) websites are (by default) desktop version. In portrait, I find that I always click mobile to view properly.-The angled kickstand works great--but only if fully extended. Any less (more upright) and it'll rock or slam shut. Lap use is iffy and not ideal.-The Lenovo product page shows a pic where you can flip the keypad under (like a convertible). No way can this be healthy for the hinge! To handle like a convertible tablet, i slide the screen off, pry the kickstand open a little, flip the screen over (face up), then (on top of keyboard) slide the screen to the hinge--it'll magnetically attach to the top of the hinge. Everything aligns and stays together; the stylus is the same thickness as the hinge/kickstand. The keyboard and hinge is protected.-I got the Lenovo stylus package but you'll need the Cursive app, or similar. With Google Keep Notes, there's a disconcerting gap between the tip and the writing.Neato...-When attached, display settings allow you to set 0⁰ default. When detached, you now have additional option of autorotate, but I tick 270⁰ to use as portrait tablet. (Most) times it reverts back to 0⁰ when i reattach.-Wow, what loud stereo speakers. Minimal bass but as expected. Better than my Legion laptop!-Convenient to have the 3.5mm headset jack. Easy to swap from airplane display to this without dealing with a BT dongle.-Love the old-school camera privacy shutter! If only that could mute the mic too at the same time.Wishful...-The keyboard (non BT) could have been backlit (I'm a 6 finger typist).-Would be handy to have a thumbnail recess at corners so opening could be easier.-I'd pay more if the hinge could be somewhat rigid for lap work. Keep it detachable, but instead of vinyl, maybe make the hinge metal...

[Rewarded Review] Duet Chromebooks just keep getting better
15 November 2024

Great Chromebook - this is my third Chromebook and second Lenovo Duet. I love using this as a tablet in the morning to read email with my coffee. Enough I already had a Lenovo UNI pen the one that came with this Chromebook as easier to hold and I really like that it stows in the slot on the back.

[Rewarded Review] Great hybrid laptop replacement and tablet.
7 November 2024

It is not the most powerful or fastest laptop you can buy. However, it is a super convenient hybrid device that you can take anywhere with you and browse the web, type long documents comfortably, write notes with the stylus, chill on the couch watching video, or enjoy some outdoor time. The battery life is incredible and the standby lasts forever which makes it a lot more convenient than a traditional laptop or tablet. I have been using mine at the coffee shop to get work done on the go and I have never once brought the charging cord with me! Also, the webcam, microphone, and speaker set up is very good quality and ideal for any video call situations.

I use it for programming on the go. Great cpu performance for the price. Runs Linux (crostini) well and I can do docker based Python development. The only Linux limitation is that Vulkan gpu acceleration does not work, which means I cannot run Zed text editor. opengl works fine. Hopefully that is fixed in the future. As an arm laptop, it's not going to be running Steam games either way.The keyboard is relatively stable. It is acceptably usable on the lap. Obviously not as sturdy as a clamshell laptop. The case does cover up the bulge, but I'd prefer not having it. The front facing camera is good for meetings. The minimum speaker volume is way too loud. Don't plan on using the speaker after bedtime if you have kids. It must surely be an oversight and needs fixed. If this gets fixed, I'd give it a 5/5 rating.
