For me, this computer is an excellent high-quality machine for work and gaming. I can control which GPU the computer uses (the onboard AMD one is really not bad for most purposes as well), see how many watts the battery is discharging in real time, shift between performance modes and control all kinds of stuff in a really user-friendly manner. One thing that they should ABSOLUTELY tell you right off the hop is that with the default settings you will get 2-3 hours of battery life doing not much of anything. IF you switch the refresh rate to 60Hz (by pressing Fn+r), and put the laptop in Hybrid Auto mode or iGPU Only mode so that it switches to the Radeon onboard graphics, and maybe turn the screen down to 80%, you should get 6-8 hours of battery during meetings, web browsing, streaming shows or other normal computing use. The Radeon GPU could even almost play Baldur's Gate 3 when I accidentally started it in iGPU mode (it ran but poorly).Lenovo seems to have very well-thought out and curated high-performance laptops, and I'm very happy with everything here. Well, except for the power adaptor. It also claims to be "Slim 230W" but is a giant brick that weighs pretty well a full kilogram. I ended up ordering the 135W Lenovo Gan adaptor from China (AliExpress or Ebay), and it works great, and can support the computer running games in quiet mode (usually runs around 110W). I had first purchased a 140W USB-C power adaptor, because the laptop CLAIMS to be able to pull 140W over USB-C, but Lenovo uses some stupid protocol where it won't run the normal amperage that they use for PDA 3.1, so it tops out at 100W. That's fine for day-to-day use, but when gaming it doesn't quite cut it. I would love for this laptop to come with a smaller GAN 230W adaptor, to have access to the 135W Lenovo Charger in Canada, and for Lenovo to make sure that their 140W USB-C charger works with the standard USB-C 140W amperage. Or go to 240W over USB-C (the new highest standard) and replace the power brick altogether.The only other issue I've had seems to be a software one where randomly when I turn on the PC the blue power light will turn on, but the computer will not actually start up for 2-4 minutes. It's really annoying, and I'm hoping that will get sorted in a software update at some point.Overall, I still think the computer gets 5 stars for value, performance and quality.

It is as if Lenovo started its entire line of laptops from this one and then add and subtract features and build quality from it for their other models.This is the most balanced laptop for gaming, productivity, and creative work without an outrageous price. You can get the basically the same specs for a lower price with the slim 5. But if you can catch this one on sale for about the same price, it's a no brainer. Also since this laptop has Dolby Vision, I would highly recommend getting Dolby Access and enable Dolby Atmos as well for the full experience.

Despite this model not having the top of the line GPU, it still plays titles incredibly well. Starfield, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk; all are served great visuals and great framerates on the very sharp, vibrant lcd screen at high settings. No dead pixels, bright colors, and only the slightest, barely noticeable backlight bleed make for a beautiful panel. The included nvme drive performs well, good loading times and file copying speeds, and maintains safe temps even when copying a large amount of data.CPU and GPU Temperatures are warm, but within acceptable limits for the hardware, and the keyboard never gets untouchably hot, even with prolonged sessions. External speakers via usb, bluetooth or the audio jack are, of course, an easy improvement.Battery life is better than expected for a gaming laptop, but as no gaming laptop can really push itself on battery, it simply means that casual usage such as web browsing, watching videos, etc. can be sustained for longer. Definitely usable on battery in a pinch. Port availability is good, and having the power and hdmi ports on the back is especially convenient. It would be an improvement to have 3x type C USB ports and 2x Type A usb ports, rather than vice-versa as it's currently equipped, but that's a minor inconvenience and only when you're sitting down plugging 5 things into the machine at once. Adding at least one type C to the right side of the laptop would be a good thing to consider for the next hardware revision.The weight is fine, as heavy as one would expect for a gaming laptop, and the screen lid opens very easily. Fan noise is about average, but fan noise is unavoidable on a gaming laptop with this sort of power. It's not nearly loud enough to overpower even a modest set of headphones or monitors, and is par for the course if you're looking to game on a laptop. In the low-power mode, the fans are barely audible with just web browsing, youtube, discord, etc.All in all, I couldn't be happier. I've owned several Lenovo products in the past, and the continued quality I've experienced was a major factor in purchasing the Legion 5i. I'm glad to say I was not disappointed, as it's lived up to all my expectations and more.

The top of the laptop seems to be easily scratched if not careful. There is slight keyboard flex but in my usage it's not noticeable.- One of the bigger issues I have is you must not rest anything on the laptop while closed else the screen will flex slightly and the keyboard will start to imprint onto the screen. The screen itself has an anti glare coating so with care you should be able to buff out any marks if it happens a few times. Having stronger materials used for the top and perhaps some pads or standoffs to help the screen sit off the keyboard is this case would be ideal. For the price range I think these things should have been worked out as generally people will be taking their laptop with them places. To help the keyboard imprinting into the screen, I always place the fiber cloth that came in the packaging over the keyboard when closing my laptop.- Longer battery life would be nice but when I knew when purchasing this unit that it wasn't going to have a 6 hour battery life.Overall I would highly recommend this laptop, it has been great so far and I'm very happy with the look, feel, build quality, and performance. I shopped around and compared various brands and models but every laptop will have pro's and con's about them, I found the Legion to be the best in it's class for the price.

This module literally disappeared from the Vantage interface yesterday & is nowhere to be found. The area of the interface where it used to be is blank. Showed up for half a second after reinstalling, then disappeared again.When it was there, the colors were completely off, but they were better than this default blue. Uninstall, reinstall, updated everything, did everything suggested.Lenovo support suggests using iQue software, not useful. Phone, written & chat support have no answer. Build quality feels solid, despite the base being plastic (vs the slim 7's alloy) you hardly notice it when using tbh and cooling grills underneath feel quite sturdy. Keyboard feels good, nice large trackpad with good sensitivity, display is bright and sharp, battery life is good with good supporting software (limiting charge to 80%, toggling charge speed, etc). Good upgradeability/reparability with the dual non-soldered ram, ease of access to battery and wifi card, etc. Back is straight forward to remove which is nice for ease of cleaning.Nice fairly sleek appearance, doesn't stick out like a sore RGB thumb in the office unlike most laptops with the "gaming" moniker. The 4060 sports plenty of grunt for my amateur video editing and gaming alike. Fans are a bit loud without headset when gaming or doing video editing, however custom fan curves help alot and this laptop does run exceedingly cool, generally in the low 60's even under sustained heavy load for multiple hours. Very impressed with the cooling capacity for the 4060 variant. I suspect there is plenty of thermal headroom left if overclocking were desired.Overall bang for buck here in Canada this is a fantastic value if you can snag it on sale and so far it seems like a laptop that will hold up for many years ahead.

The port selection it self is amazing, power jack, 2 USB Cs, 2 USB As, Headphone & Mic jack, SD card slot, and HDMI port. However, I dont agree with the placement of them. The USB As should be on the sides, or atleast there should be one on the side. I dont want to reach around the back of the laptop to plug in my mouse or thumb drive. Like wise, it's easier to hide the cable mess of having a dongle behind my laptop screen rather than sticking out the side. The other problem is that the headphone jack should've been put on the left side of the laptop and not the right, it simply gets in the way of my mouse and many headsets have the cable coming from the left earcup.Besides that one very nitpicking problem, this laptop is basically everything I'd ever want in a slim gaming ultrabook. Its fast, beautiful, and functional, what else could someone ask for.
I absolutely love the form factor of this laptop. The screen is closer to 14.5" than 14" and the size feels perfect. I am able to be productive on it, game on it, and view media on it without any issues or wishing it were larger. The OLED screen really is beautiful, I just wish it was a little less reflective and had G-Sync support. The included 170w charger is small and compact, perfect to complement this very portable laptop. The fingerprint reader works most of the time (not every time), but I wish the webcam was Windows Hello capable instead of a fingerprint reader. There is a very nice port selection, but there is no USB 4.0 or Thunderbolt capable ports (it is an AMD CPU so no surprise about the Thunderbolt), which is disappointing, but I am still able to use ... I do not have this issue with any other application or web browser. Other than the minor issues I mentioned, this laptop is the perfect size and weight for portability without sacrificing too much screen real estate. The 4060 GPU version is shockingly powerful and able to handle recent AAA games and everything else I have thrown at it without issue. The laptop stays incredibly quiet and cool too, especially when in "Quiet" mode. I was on the fence between this and the Slim 7i and this is no question the correct choice for my needs. I cannot wait to see what Lenovo does with the next iterations of this 14 inch laptop. I would not hesitate to purchase another one in the future.
