The unit feels solid and works as advertised. Installed with Win 11 PRO and all the transferred applications from the Surfacebook (Win 10 PRO) runs without a problem although some re-configuration was required. The AMD RYZEN 5 is using less than 10% CPU and 70% of the installed 16GB memory whereas the older i5 CPU at 80% with 8GB memory. The fan runs quietly and is barely audible but the fingerprint reader on the power switch is not as forgiving, and after a couple of failed reads, it requires PIN signon. The Dolby audio speaker system sitting above the keyboard produces a good sound for such a small footprint. The privacy shutter comes in handy for a quick video shutoff. I'm so glad I got this laptop as an upgrade from my older HP. It couldn't have been designed better for me. I travel lots and do lots of outdoor sporting and adventuring when I'm travelling, so it's durable and tested structure and design makes it reliable and resilient when I need it to be. It's AMD cpu, gpu, and the ssd run as fast and smooth (maybe more) as my desktop at home! I do lots of video and photo editing on the go as well as some music production, and this machine keeps up great when I'm working away from home. I have Windows 10 installed alongside Ubuntu Studio running Gnome and both OS's are running fantastically right out of the box (or right after a smooth install in the case of Linux :P ) The 14" screen is small enough that I can just throw it into ...Ā MoreI'm so glad I got this laptop as an upgrade from my older HP. And the TrackPoint means I don't need to carry any extra accessories around with me. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants a no-compromise powerhouse that is durable enough to be on-the-go with you no matter where you take it.

For some time the brightness buttons F5 and F6 worked but doesn't work all the times. Another downside is the battery life, it is unbelievably bad. Don't buy this laptop from the Lenovo website! My computer has a serious fan problem. I do use my laptop in my daily work at the university. It makes an annoying sound while working like an old laptop. I can not focus on my reading which makes me also uncomfortable. I am not happy with this sound. Most of the time they keep forward or suggest calling another number. 2- They do not accept returns due to the weird policy. However, they can not solve my problem efficiently. 3- Everyone is busy no matter what they do. The total time I have spent over the phone and during the email exchange is huge for me. It is a waste of my time without any solution. 4- If I purchased this laptop from Amazon, Walmart, or somewhere else, it would be easily returned. Yet, since I used their own website I am not able to return it. It does not make sense. Overall I am super disappointed. I will tell my friends not to use the Lenovo website to purchase any items. Frankly speaking, some Lenovo laptops are great. If you still would like to buy one of them, use another website NOT the LENOVO website.
This laptop is a little workhorse. I'm consistently impressed with Lenovo's build quality, and when you combine that with great bang-for-buck components (AMD Ryzen processor lineup, hey!) it only gets better. Screen -- I ordered this laptop with a customised screen. After reading reviews online, the 500-nit Privacy Guard screen sounded to be dimmer overall than the 400-nit anti-glare screen. These are in contrast (no pun intended) to the default 250-nit screen (which is great for indoor use, but not so much for direct sunlight viewing.) Having received this with 400-nit display, I compared it to a T495 here and wow, yes, it's much easier to use in sunlight. Indoors, the brightness is easily turned down. Having received this with 400-nit display, I compared it to a T495 here and wow, yes, it's much easier to use in sunlight. Indoors, the brightness is easily turned down. Processor/memory/storage -- This computer feels snappy & responsive, because it is. The Ryzen processor lineup is fast, and when coupled with plenty of memory (16GB+) it takes a lot to bog this down. Rounding out the hardware with high-volume SSD storage (500GB+) and integrated WiFi 6 + Bluetooth 5 (and optional LTE), this computer makes an excellent mobile workstation. Connectors -- earlier iterations in the ThinkPad series had plastic power connectors, which were prone to break over time. (I replaced the internal power board on an E-series earlier this week.) I'm a big fan of the switch to USB-C for power delivery, and there's a 2nd USB-C port "hidden" inside the docking port. With 3x USB-3 ports, an HDMI output, and miniSD slot, this has more than enough to make the connections I need. Webcam, mic, speakers -- the camera is good; the video stream is not grainy or blocky, and works excellently for video calls (hello WFH!) The mic clearly picks up voice/audio from me sitting in front of/near the laptop. Price -- especially if purchased at a discount (as Lenovo frequently offers 40+% discount off listed web price), these laptops are competitive with similar offerings from e.g. HP, Dell, ASUS, etc.
Got this laptop almost 3 weeks ago. It's okay. I really liked my last laptop, which I kept for 9 years (replaced battery, keyboard and upgraded SSD and RAM during that time). But it was finally time to say goodbye and hello to a new laptop. 1) I wouldn't call this laptop light. It's not heavy, but it's a bit heavier than my old laptop (an ultrabook). That being said, if you donāt take your laptop all over, every day, then it should be light enough to travel with on the occasional occurrence that I need to. 2) The fingerprint reader is useless. It recognizes my finger maybe 1/10 times. I usually have to input my PIN. I have retaught my fingerprints several time but it just doesn't work. I have no problem with my iPhone 6s 3) The black case seems to show grease marks ...Ā MoreGot this laptop almost 3 weeks ago. It's okay. It recognizes my finger maybe 1/10 times. I usually have to input my PIN. I have retaught my fingerprints several time but it just doesn't work. I have no problem with my iPhone 6s 3) The black case seems to show grease marks from my fingers easily, and I don't have greasy fingers 4) The laptop keyboard is slightly smaller than my old 13" Ultrabook. There is no row of special keys to the right of the enter button. I used SharpKeys to switch the location of Home/End and PgUp/PgDn and put little stickers on the keys. There is quite a bit of room around the outside of the keyboard. I'm not sure why they thought there wasn't enough room to put a row of small keys. That being said, the keyboard is very nice to type on. The keys have good feedback and good travel. 5) The charger, USB-C, plugs into the left side of the computer. I would have preferred the back of the computer with a right angle plug. My old laptop had this and it was much easer to keep from putting pressure on the input. 6) The max I could upgrade the RAM to when I purchased was 16GB. I wanted 32GB but I couldnāt get that on a 13ā laptop and it would have been double the price. Unfortunately it is soldered so I wonāt be able to upgrade it 7) The touchpad is very sensitive. Even after adjusting all the settings, I still accidentally select when trying to move the mouse. I find it somewhat hard to know when I am actually touching the buttons as it is not a separate button but integrated right into the whole trackpad. 8) The lid is solid and seems like it will protect the screen well. It is a little stiff to open, but Iām hoping this will improve over time. 9) With my specs, the laptop is quick to wake. It would be nice if the fingerprint reader actually worked because then it would be even quicker. See my point 2 above. 10) I thought I had read on the website that the ThinkPad series laptops have a little cover that can go over the camera. This model doesnāt seem to have that, so itās back to the post-it note. 11) Overall the battery life is disappointing. I get a couple of hours, but my 9 year old 13ā Ultrabook with a 6 year old battery actually had a longer battery life than this one. Iād say it gets about 4 hours, depending on what you are doing. 12) The screen is odd. I upgraded to the touchscreen FHD because I wanted the higher brightness for working outside. Iām not quite sure what it is about it, but my previous laptop just looked better (it was lower resolution). I have tried adjusting the color balance and everything, but I canāt get it to look like my old, also matte, display. I also have a virtual workspace and by default it is set to a lower resolution than this display, so my virtual desktop actually has a very slight fuzziness to it. IT at work says they cannot change the resolution on my virtual desktop. I mostly use my computer for work and a bit of web surfing. So it doesnāt bother me. But if you game, or plan to watch a lot of movies, you might be disappointed with the display. I know overall my review sounds negative, but thatās not the case. I really do like this laptop and I will keep it, but I wish it had these differences. However, Iām very very picky about my laptops so others may not think these issues are a big deal
I received this T14 as my company-issued laptop. Overall, it is a perfect example of work device adequacy. It's weight and profile -- while not slim and feathery -- combine for good portability, and it feels relatively durable. The fingerprint reader is convenient when it isn't being overly finicky. For a minimalist like me, the bland overall aesthetic is just fine. The Intel Core i5 makes it snappy, the camera is more than serviceable, and the monitor is sufficient in size and performance (significant bezels notwithstanding). While it's kind of nice to have a built-in ethernet port, I would have preferred shifting at least one of the other USB (A and C) ports or the HDMI port over to its place, as they are all crammed somewhat troublesomely close together along the ...Ā MoreI received this T14 as my company-issued laptop. One quirk I have noticed is that it my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse (leveraging a single Unifying Receiver) experience a lot of signal failure/interruption if the dongle is plugged directly into the laptop AND the laptop is docked. This is what I would generally prefer for my home setup with the way I have things arranged -- even undocked, I would like to be able to easily continue to use the Logitech peripherals at my option. The situation appears to correct itself if I plug the Unifying Receiver dongle into the the dock itself. I have not yet diagnosed if this is a Logitech, laptop, or dock issue, specifically, but it's a minor if persistent inconvenience. In total, the T14 has been a mostly flawless performer with adequate specs -- perfectly "forgettable" in all aspects, which is exactly what I want out of a work device.
My purchase which I am in the process of returning is this x13 gen 2 ryzen 7 8or16gbram, 512 hard drive. Pros: sleek design, light weight, love the camera cover for privacy and the fingerprint access reader is super cool on a laptop. Cons: the webcam has worse quality than my 7 year old MacBook, (come on 7 years ago this webcam wasnāt good... why is it in your product!?), the quality of the screen when streaming videos is terrible and also because of the dimensions everything you watch will be cut down even further on the already small 13.3ā screen since most videos are max 1080 dimension not 1200 so there are bands across the top and bottom. I tested to see what this laptop could handle when playing a heavy program like a video game and the graphics were at times mildly glitchy, but playable (not that Iām a gamer, just needed something to test it with). For me itās the basics that are a necessity, a decent webcam, and I would probably need to purchase a larger laptop for my own use so for sure Iām returning this because I personally canāt substantiate paying this much when itās missing little necessities, I donāt want to carry an external webcam around, the camera is truly that horrid. Also this being my first thinkpad experience, Iām not keen on the fn button replacing the ctrl button in the left hand lower corner, thatās where it is typically on a Mac, but not pc... it is annoying as someone who uses the ctrl button a lot to copy paste select all, its a waste of time to have to retrain my brain.. even at this sale price $1400 (reg 2800+), I canāt substantiate keeping it which is unfortunate cause I really want a Thinkpad for their durability and security features. Oh another con, even with cleanest hands possible, oils will transfer to the trackpad ( PRO: the trackpad is lovely and soft). I wish this laptop came as a 14 or 15ā, same body, better webcam, better monitor (my crappy dell laptops monitor is way better!- that being said, I never will buy dell again so no thatās not a promotion, DO NOT BUY DELL PRODUCTS THEY ARE FAULTY AND WILL STILL SELL THEM TO YOU!! The monitor was the only good thing about my dell that was so slow reg$1k i5intel, so no bueno, donāt buy dell!), the normal pc keyboard (put the ctrl where it belongs!). if you donāt care about the cons I listed, this laptop is cool and I would recommend it, I love the plug design for charging, rather than the typical charging plugs this design is really nice for a smaller laptop, very comfortable on your lap as a ālaptopā would imply but rarely lives up to. I believe thereās also a cooling function if it gets too hot, so thatās impressive but donāt quote me I was working on my MacBook Pro as well at the same time I was figuring out if this laptop is a keeper for my needs.. so look it up to confirm, donāt just take my word for it. Hope this helps!
I had been using this exact laptop for a long time now at work, and have loved it so much that I decided to buy the exact same one for personal use. I travel often (and lightly) and this tablet is the best of both worlds. It is sleek and lightweight, but add a wireless or Bluetooth mouse to it and I prefer it over a desktop setup. One of my favorite things about this computer (which I hated at the beginning, but you get used to it very quickly) is that the 'Fn' and 'Ctrl' keys on the bottom left part of the keyboard are switched around from all other keyboards I've had. It sounds silly but I use my 'Ctrl' key way more than my 'Fn' so this makes it way easier for my left hand to reach across the keyboard to do any shortcut. A few other things I love about this tablet (and this might be on other computers as well, but just throwing these out there): -Logging in with your fingerprint is seamless and quick -'Fn' + 'PrtSc' automatically pops the snipping tool up for easy snipping -The stylus! Ooh, the stylus. It fits nicely in the side so it's nearly impossible to lose. It works super well as a writing tool and also for any digital art one might dabble in -I haven't used this set up at home but at school I've got an additional monitor and the Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 (docking station). The docking station makes it easy to hook everything up so you really do essentially have a desktop if youād like. Having said that, I love the freedom it gives me to have a full on ādesktopā workstation or if I need to take it in my backpack, a lightweight laptop. -It has an exceptionally long battery life -The screen is bright and clear -The touch screen is similar to a cell phone; almost no pressure is needed -The mousepad as clickable left and right buttons like what your mouse would have - I hate when laptops donāt have these! -The camera and the microphone are amazing -As a teacher, I taught hybrid classes all the entire past year, so I would consistently have 30+ kiddos on a Zoom call all day long, and my computer, the mic, or the webcam never lagged 100% recommend this tablet!
The Lenovo Thinkpad T14 (AMD) took quite a while to get here with the pandemic and the semiconductor shortage going on (~7months to my doorstep), but I was alright with waiting as I wasn't in need of a laptop immediately, and I had my eyes locked on this device since this would be my first Lenovo Thinkpad laptop. After receiving it, I quickly installed Linux (Fedora) and began the setup process - extremely easy and everything worked out the box. The thermals are good so far - fan starts to run when watching 1080p videos and up. I don't play any video games on this machine as to why I didn't opt for an Intel model with an NVidia graphics card. I don't play any video games on this machine as to why I didn't opt for an Intel model with an NVidia graphics card. I have not done any extreme testing on this device, but general internet browsing, email checking, coding/compiling, and some basic photo editing checks all the boxes on performance. In regards to the hardware, I got the 400nit screen which is definitely bright enough for my eyes. As for the speakers, they are not the best. They can be loud depending on the video, but more often you could be 1m~1.5m away before not being able to perfectly hear the audio on full blast. As for the camera, again, not the best. It's 720p, but the overall image quality is awful in my opinion. It will do the job and show a picture/frame, but the lighting is poorly handled where shadows are extremely dark, and the sharpness of the video is extremely low. Although, I don't often use the speakers/camera very often, so this is less impactful for me as a daily user. Overall, it's a great laptop for the price and the performance.
