This is a very good laptop at a fair price that will meet the needs of most people in most situations. I purchased it primarily for work and school, and it fills those roles well. Especially with the new aspect ratio for the screen (16:10 vs. the old 16:9), I feel a big change from the widescreen standard of yesteryear. The longevity of the product and ease of use makes Lenovo my go to brand and is well worth the investment. If you get lucky enough to get one on sale as I did, run, don't walk to the checkout button. Go for it.

This is a great machine! Purchased in July 2022.11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz16 GB RAM512 GB SSDThe battery life is great and it is much slimmer than my older T470. This isn't the most recent generation of Intel processor, but it does the trick. Plus side is that many of the bugs that come with new processors have been worked out. It is quick and very reliable. Fast startup. Keyboard is the classic ThinkPad experience; which I love! The fan is fairly quiet and isn't worse than I expected. Of course, the fan turns on periodically depending on what you're doing with the device, but that's normal. I am very impressed with the size and weight of this machine! So portable. This is so nice to use, it's making me want to be more productive with my work!
I am upgrading from a T480.After realizing I never used the hotswap battery option I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on the upgrade. The T14 has the same 14in screen but is noticeably lighter and while not outstanding has excellent battery life. I am not a huge fan of the combined fingerprint reader and power button however it works well so not a reason to downgrade the rating. The ports are sufficient with one notable exception; a lack of ethernet ports. This was the sole reason the T14 received 4/5 stars. I like being able to hardwire into devices to troubleshoot and transfer large files. Overall a pretty good travel laptop.
I am very happy with this machine. I was skeptical about things I'd heard about the heat of the Intel processors and keyboard redesign (less key travel, apparently). I would have taken an AMD version if I could have gotten the 400 nit low-power screen with it but that wasn't offered when I was ready. I got the standard i5 processor and am very very happy with the results. I have no heat problems running the machine on my lap (I'm a writer - the machine is used for writing, a few graphics, research and watching videos). The keyboard feels like the traditional superior Thinkpad keyboard to me and the build quality feels much more solid than my previous T490 and T470. At first the dock and the computer didn't work at all. Finally a tech had me reboot the firmware via a pin-hole access on the bottom of the laptop, and that fixed it, mostly. But for my money, a $260 peripheral should work all the time, not 85%. Makes me nuts, but that's just me.Over all, I'm happy with the device and SWSNBN will be happy, too.

I'm young and never got to experience the old ThinkPads but that is the type of machine I was hoping for. What I got is clearly a pathetic attempt at a business quality laptop. The battery can't be swapped (which is necessary given how disgustingly pathetic the battery life is.) My five year old laptop gets twice the battery life easily.
