I am upgrading from a Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 2 (touch OLED).The OLED screen on the new G9 is a let down, with the touchscreen matrix visible on the screen.Otherwise the machine looks and performs fine, with a glitchy fingerprint sensor.

Just a list of bullet points:* Linux support is weak, webcam is not working at all* Battery lifetime <4h on my Arch Linux* gets very hot, even at moderate activities the fan spins noticeable* Keyboard is bad compare to my Gen 2* Pen is not stored inside the laptop -> lost it already many times in my bag, on the table* OLED display has significant diamond tiling issues* performance not better than Gen 8* Laptop is not as robust as earlier gens. It makes squeaking noises when slightly bent.Pros:* Overall got more compact* still good amount of ports* audio is better than before but still not as good as a MacBook Pro (same price)Overall: Go for Gen 8 and save some money. Probably my last ThinkPad.

Bought this computer for my manager. When I was setting it up, it was very fast and responsive to everything I was working on, and I've checked in with my manager periodically and so far he has no complaints. He said it connects very quickly to all the Bluetooth devices which his previous computer had issues staying connected. He loves the feel of the built in keyboard.

Review of x1 yoga 2 in 1 Gen 9 August 2024Best Gen so far?1 Gen 9 battery life much longer than previous Gens for my general work Gen9 = 10 hours Gen 6 = 5.5 hours2 Speakers sound not as good as previous Gens - there is an odd quality which gives me a head ache3 I don't like that there is not a pen garage/slot. I rarely use the pen so having a small one in the laptop at all times was handy when I needed it. I now have a bigger and better pen but it is never in my bag!4 I would like if they gave the full range of processors like the Carbon.- Over all I think the best x1 yoga was the Gen 6 this Gen 9 has better battery life but the speakers and pen let it down so only 4 stars
This laptop is pretty good. It is quick and has only lagged a few times, but that's because I ran multiple programs at once trying to push the laptop to its limit. I use it mainly for school, very good to take class notes with the included pen. The pen battery life is very long, haven't charged it for three weeks and still has 50% battery, although the battery percentage doesn't seem to be very precise. The laptop battery life is good, use it all day for school and charge it only at night, usually I run it at 50% brightness. It runs programs smoothly, but I haven't tried using 3D graphics programs on it. The only program I use and lags often it Adobe Acrobat, but I never have good experiences with that program. The screen has a very good texture and doesn't reflect ... MoreThis laptop is pretty good. The screen has a very good texture and doesn't reflect light like glass does. The build seems to be metal and very solid. Amazing trackpad. The laptop never made noise when I used it. Honestly, very good laptop, no problems in usage.
It just works! The cellular worked. The speed is perfect. The size and the sturdiness is perfect. After my wife did a quick set up, i used it right away to help clients in their home.
Comes as advertised similar to the previous versions. CTRL and FXN keys are reversed in position causing confusion when trying to cut and paste. Was sorry to see the integrated pen go in favour of a separate stand alone pen.
Excellent computer. I purchased a docking station and have it connected to two HDMI monitors and a printer. It’s super fast and works well with the design graphics programs I use.
I am completely satisfied with the performance and build quality. I have installed the latest Ubuntu in a dual boot and everything works great!2-in-1 was important for me, and it also works great. The battery isn't impressive, but enough for a few hours

The touchscreen is responsive, with vibrant colors and sharp details, making it perfect for everything from note-taking to watching movies. The included stylus is also a nice touch, allowing for precise drawing or annotating.Performance-wise, the X1 doesn't disappoint. The Intel Core processor, combined with ample RAM and a fast SSD, handles multitasking effortlessly. Whether I'm running demanding software, editing photos, or streaming videos, the laptop remains smooth and responsive. Plus, the battery life is impressive, easily lasting through a full day of use without needing a recharge. The keyboard, a hallmark of Lenovo laptops, is another highlight. It's comfortable to type on for extended periods, with just the right amount of key travel. The backlit keys are perfect for late-night work sessions. The trackpad is equally impressive, offering smooth and accurate navigation. In terms of connectivity, the X1 covers all bases with multiple USB ports, Thunderbolt, and HDMI, ensuring you can easily connect all your devices. The built-in security features, like the fingerprint reader and facial recognition, provide peace of mind, keeping your data safe.Overall, the Lenovo X1 2-in-1 laptop is a top-tier device that combines versatility, performance, and portability into one sleek package. Whether you're a student, professional, or creative, this laptop is more than capable of meeting your needs. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, reliable, and versatile machine. Five stars all the way!
