This is a wonderful laptop. After months of reading reviews and consideration, I chose the X1C6 to be my first Thinkpad and I think I made a great decision. I now believe I made the right decision because it still looks super sleek and maintains the overall look I was going for, all without the presence of annoying little smudges from touching the laptop. While I likely won't use this feature for anything school-related, having a touch screen is fun for playing games like solitaire or Sudoku or just scrolling through an article with your finger. Personally, I would recommend this version because you get a touch screen that looks great and you're also not sacrificing battery life by getting the ultra HD version (or whatever it's called). Overall, this is a great product.

Sound had a low bar to beat as the X220's speakers were ridiculously bad, and most will opt for external speakers, but the sound is great for a very light laptop.

Actually a unit with two pointing sticks, one for each index finger, would be appreciated. There is a bit more room on the left, right and bottom to have a slightly larger screen in the same size unit. Maybe even at the top, it could be a bit larger and still fit a camera. I thought the camera "shutter" was too difficult for my fingers to manipulate, I had to get someone with longer nails to move it.

With a battery that'd lasts about 7 - 8 hours, it was a workhorse and great for the road warrior. I've taken it with me to Europe, China, Latin America, and Africa, and has served me well. Sadly, my X220 is getting old and tired and it's time to retire it to greener pastures, and just use it as an occasional web surfer and to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Videos, or listen to music at home.When searching for a replacement for my X220, I'd research all the major brands, but found I would keep coming back to Lenovo. After extensive comparative research, I decided that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 would be the ideal replacement. It's compact (thinner than the X220), weighs about the same - very light, feature packed (2 USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Ethernet port, SD card slot), and powered by an 8th generation Core i7 processor. The specs on the battery is about 14 hours, which is great. The small, lightweight, but powerful laptop even comes with a 1TB SSD hard drive. And when I found it on sale during Lenovo's Christmas promotions for hundreds off, I couldn't resist. It's everything I could ask for - a fast, light, powerful and full featured travel laptop. Initially, I was eying the X1 Carbon Gen 7 or the X1 Extreme, but neither had a SD card slot, which was a deal breaker for me. The X1C Gen 6 did, so that made my decision really easy.I'm really happy with my X1 Carbon Gen 6, and I expect that it'll serve me well for many years, hopefully as long as my trusty old X220 have.
Overall very good, but some minor issues.The biggest issue for me is that the battery gets quite hot when charging. The laptop is great and cool, even if I play some casual games on battery, but once it's plugged in, there's a bar spanning the entire width of the laptop, near the hinge, which I assume is the battery, that gets uncomfortably hot. It's even hot when the battery is fully charged. Just being plugged in keeps it hot and the fan periodically gets loud trying to cool something down. But again, on battery it's fine. My old t440s I could keep on my chest while lying down withot issue, this laptop, not really.I forgot that I ordered the higher resolution display that doesn't have touch. I just wish there was an option for higher resolution with touch.Finally, keyboards are very subjective and what some people like others don't. The keyboard I like the most is the Logitech K740 which I find so quiet and smooth. While some people absolutely love mechanical keyboards, I really do not, so keep that in mind. I find this laptop's keyboard "heavy" as the keys need more force than I'm used to overcome the initial resistance to start travelling, but once it starts, it bottoms out easily so I've never had a "half press". It also feels like the keys travel distance is long, but probably normal compared to most keyboards. I know my external keyboard has a short travel distance compared to most. Overall, I think I prefered my old laptop's keybaord, a Thinkpad T440s, but I always prefer my external Logitech K740 (I just hate the non-standard layout). The objective part of my keyboard review is that there are two keys which sometimes I press and it doesn't register. They are the left ctrl, mostly missing when I try to ctrl-click, and the backtick key which most people don't use, but I'm a software developer and it's a very important key when writing markdown.Otherwise I'm very happy with this laptop and love how light it is. My work computer and old laptop feel so heavy in comparison.
