I enjoy all the features that this laptop offers such as the touch screen. I will have to say that the finger touch component is decent but not always perfect, so I decided to purchase the pen for usage with the screen in hopes that it will have more precision. I like the ability to close off the lens to the camera while not using it and feel that it is a good safety feature for when my 5 year old child uses it to play games. I also love the ability to stand the laptop up like a tripod and using only the touch screen with my child. The fingerprint sensor is also a great safety feature especially if you have sensitive data that you work with on the laptop. The only time this becomes a bit inconvenient is when the laptop is in the standing position and you're using something that needs your fingerprint to authorize. Other features such as turning off the screen pretty quickly if a person is not in front of the laptop for several seconds also promotes data safety. I am also very pleased with the Dolby/Atmos speaker system volume on this model compared to other ThinkPad models that I've had to use in the past. It gets very loud and I don't have to have it on full volume for audibility. I'm sure there are other features that I haven't mentioned that are also great in terms of functionality, but these are the ones that stand out to me the most.

Great build quality on par with other high-end, Windows and non-Windows computers. The finish and casing, keyboard, trackpad, matte screen, and hinge mechanism are all 10/10. My only complaint is that in the year 2021, I would expect a premium laptop such as this one to come with a built-in 1080p camera, not a 720p camera equal in quality to my old laptop from 2012! Other than that nitpick, you cannot go wrong with this computer for business or even personal use.

When running the diagnostic, it said that no fan was found. I reported this to Support and before ever contacting me back, they immediately FedEx'd a new motherboard (to the Virgin Islands, so expensive). Over the next couple of days of emails, they said that "not found" message is fine and if there was a true problem, the system would not even boot up. I have now noticed that the fan does run on occasion when needed and it is very quiet. I then had to ship them back the unused motherboard. Overall, I was happy that Support was concerned enough to immediately send out the new part, but disappointed that I could not have a chat session that could have resolved things much easier for everyone in a few minutes as opposed to a few days.

I am reviewing the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 2 Gen 6.In general, I love Lenovo Yoga Thinkpads because they have enough power for limited CAD work and the touchscreen allows me to sign docs from the screen, saving a lot of time. The touchscreen also allows me to rotate CAD models, which is helpful. While the Intel Iris Xe graphics are much better than 3rd generation, the graphics chip is still quite weak in comparison to competing devices. Also, I was discouraged by darker, poor screen colors than in prior generations. My gen 3 had a brilliant OLED screen that gives vivid colors, especially reds. The gen 6 screen is drab in comparison, which was a significant disappointment.Lastly, the laptop size has shrunk to 14" from 15.5", which was disappointing. Smaller bezel, but I miss the larger screen.Lastly, there is some weird stuff on pricing and configuration. In general, I prefer to build my own system from options but this year the Lenovo website offers none. Further, the model I want is some days around $2400 and other days around $1400. Either the website is buggy or Lenovo is playing games with pricing--not sure which. I ended up buying online from New Egg because prices were low and were the same from day to day.Very solid performer, but I sure wish the screen was prettier. Not great for movies.
To be fair, I've had this laptop less than one week. In that time however, I don't want to put it down. Really don't have anything bad to say about the device. When I configured this, I expected the GORGEOUS screen would shorten battery life. It does, but I'm okay with the estimated 3ish hours between charges. I think I could probably get more life from the battery by tweaking the power plan, but out of the box I'm loving it.The keyboard and trackpad have a premium feel visually and texturally. The keyboard key travel is very natural plus it's a sharp machine. The IR web cam works flawlessly (and fast) with Windows Hello, as does the human motion detection. Perfect for multi-tasking between two separate rigs.I only briefly used OneNote, so I haven't had a chance ... MoreTo be fair, I've had this laptop less than one week. Perfect for multi-tasking between two separate rigs.I only briefly used OneNote, so I haven't had a chance to test the integrated stylus in earnest. It doesn't beat the Microsoft Surface Pen, but it also has a dedicated storage spot on the side of the keyboard where the Microsoft device does not. It will take a little to get used to, but seems like I can write/draw/erase very nicely.Office 365 was already loaded, so just a matter of logging into my account. You also have the option to upgrade to Windows 11 which I passed on at the moment since it's release date is so recent. I'll be looking into that in the coming weeks.Installs have been going great and the Core i7 really cranks. The 720p webcam is adequate on Zoom; I also purchased a video only 1080p webcam to carry along if absolutely necessary.I haven't used in tablet mode either, but folding the screen back is very smooth, solid and reliable for the long term.Frankly, I couldn't be more happy with the purchase. Well, I could have received it faster is a fair statement. Estimated delivery dates were all over the place, but almost all were well within the shipping disclaimer shared when submitting the order. A lot of that isn't in Lenovo's control, but the anticipation on this arrival grew worse when the estimates mysteriously kept shifting back, then passed, then lurching forward.Anyway you cut it, I would buy this machine again in a heartbeat.
Very good computer. I was very fond of this computer, but it died premature. I left a glass of water with ice next to the computer. Unfortunately, the comdensation on the outside of the glass went under the computer and shorted out when I plugged it in. This was through no fault of the product. This computer was dropped on a hardwood floor twice and kept going strong.
I have the model with the i7-1185G7 CPU, UHD+ display, 32 GB memory, 4G LTE, and I upgraded the SSD from 256 GB to 2 TB myself. It’s a nice laptop, but with some enormous flaws. First of all, the amount of backlight bleed at the bottom of the display is quite frankly scandalous for any laptop, let alone one this expensive. It’s not noticeable in everyday use, but is mightily annoying when watching a movie for instance. The glossy screen is also quite reflective, but I knew what I was getting. Next, the keyboard is atrocious. I’ve had ThinkPads since the mid-90s and every new model under Lenovo has had a keyboard a little worse than before. Next, the keyboard is atrocious. I’ve had ThinkPads since the mid-90s and every new model under Lenovo has had a keyboard a little worse than before. Well, now they’ve reached the point where the keyboard is about equal to the competition, I can think of any number of other laptops with similar quality keyboards. It’s a shame. The battery life is not impressive either (but you may get better mileage with an FHD+ screen). Finally, this thing is quite porky at 3.2 lb according to my scale. Consequently, using it in tablet mode is extremely impractical (not so much because of the 14-inch size but because of the weight), I’m having second thoughts about buying this model versus the non-Yoga X1 Carbon Gen 9.I’m also bemused that getting a model with 32 GB or memory and WWAN is a custom-built configuration in the US and consequently has a long wait. It’s a no no-brainer configuration and is available in other markets.I’m not unhappy with this laptop despite my harsh criticism of it. But it has convinced me that there’s no reasons to stick with ThinkPads anymore and my next laptop may well not be a ThinkPad. I can get a similar keyboard, specs, and build quality elsewhere.
The ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6 Intel (14") is exactly what I wanted at a great price. No other laptop even came close. It has a very bright 4k touch screen, so all text is extremely sharp. It has a very fast i7 4-core 3GHz processor, 16GB ram, and plenty of room with 1TB of solid-state storage. I can attach what I need to the USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, or audio ports. Solidly built, the screen can be folded back to use as a tablet and I can draw on the screen with the 2-button pen that is conveniently stored in a hole in the side. The keyboard feels great. Logging into Windows 11 is a snap with the fingerprint reading power button and person detection securely logs me out if I leave.
Overall it's ok, but a lot of little things could be better. First off, Lenovo asked me to review the refurbished version of this product that came with headphones. I bought the brand new version without headphones. That they think I bought a refurbished version scared me that they charged me for new and sent a used one. I don't think that is the case, but if I don't review through this link, I don't get entered into the drawing. That has been my experience with Lenovo, just lots of little missteps. As far as the laptop itself, I am mostly happy with it. Granted these may be nitpicks for some, they add up. The Ctrl and Fn keys should be switched. I know you can swap them through the software, but every other keyboard has the Ctrl in the corner. The buttons being ... MoreOverall it's ok, but a lot of little things could be better. As far as the laptop itself, I am mostly happy with it. Granted these may be nitpicks for some, they add up. The Ctrl and Fn keys should be switched. I know you can swap them through the software, but every other keyboard has the Ctrl in the corner. The buttons being under the touchpad make navigating and clicking with both hands kind of annoying. It does it's best to try to figure out if you are swiping or clicking, but it is imprecise. The pen has an odd shaped bulb on the end that makes putting it in a pain to align. It doesn't want to naturally slide in to the right position, so you always have to take a moment to orient it when returning. The charging adapter doesn't wrap up nicely. Dell and Apple do a better job of designing the power cord/adapter. There is no indent in the lid to make opening nicer. It sticks out a bit more so it's not hard to open, but it's not satisfying. The logo is recessed into the palm rest which makes it slightly annoying when moving your hand. Again, these things are slight, but having so many things be just slightly annoying is kind of annoying in itself. Like the extra strength label over the power button showing you it is a fingerprint sensor. It was hard to get off, and then left residue that was hard to get off. Just why? The spacing between the USB-C ports is generous, but not the spacing between the USB and HDMI. USB-C tips are narrow, HDMI and USB are sometimes fat, which means they rub and are more difficult to pull out. If you are going to put space between them, put it between the USB and HDMI ports instead. Tablet mode is not ideal because it is slick and heavy, so you can't hold it comfortably. Similar when closed and pulling it out of a bag, it feels like it wants to slip out of your hands. I like that there is a cover for the camera. I like the lit keyboard. I don't like the keys being rounded/scalloped on the bottom it makes them seem not always in the right space if you are trying to hit a corner of a key.
I have switched to this from the Microsoft Surface Pro 7. It is a bit of an adjustment. I chose Lenovo, mainly because of the price. So far, it has met all my needs. It is a little heavier but as I am retired and use mainly while sitting, that has not been a factor. So far, I am well satisfied with it, while I adjust to the changes. Would I buy another one? I probably would. I think the thing I appreciate the most is the attached keyboard and the attached pen (it took me awhile to find that one). I was forever using my other pen and my old keyboard would detach when I did not want it to.
