It seemed like a good laptop up the 1 year point. It began to act up in just over 1 year old, just enough past the warranty period. Bad battery life that is normal for laptops. I don't think I ever got more than 5 hours of use. It heats up like crazy, so I bought a fan (I am not a game player either). It seems to help, but I am afraid I won't be able to use it past 3 years the way is it is going, and I was intending to use it at least as long as a laptop I paid half the price of this lenovo. Seems I won't even get up to 1/3 of its life. Currently the laptop is 1.5 years old and now it is not turning on. Refrain from buying at all. This laptop is junk.

A little too fragile with poor support

This laptop is actually an Excellent laptop. Great size, great form factor. I only give it three stars though, because not long after purchase, I had to send it back due to screen problems. Even before I bought it I had read people were having issues with the screen and keyboard due to the slim form factor, so I knew I was taking a risk, but I really liked it, and I had become kind of a Lenovo junky and had no issues until now. I have bought at least 6 or 7 Lenovo laptops in the last few years, a mix of Windows 10/11 laptops and Chromebooks, and recommend them to others when they come to me for advice, so I bought it anyway. Sure enough, not long after the screen started having issues. I was pretty sure it was due to the cable connection where it plugs into the ... MoreThis laptop is actually an Excellent laptop. I have bought at least 6 or 7 Lenovo laptops in the last few years, a mix of Windows 10/11 laptops and Chromebooks, and recommend them to others when they come to me for advice, so I bought it anyway. Sure enough, not long after the screen started having issues. I was pretty sure it was due to the cable connection where it plugs into the motherboard, but since it was under warranty, I decided to send it in for repair. That first repair was pretty easy, but I didn't have the laptop for awhile. Then, very close to the end of the warranty, it started to have keyboard issues. It worked absolutely fine with an external keyboard, but the internal keyboard had issues. It was intermittent. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Again, seemed like a similar problem as the display and I like I said, I knew going in this model/form factor had these sorts of issues. I could even make it work by pressing the case in the area where the cable is located, but as it was still under warranty, I decided not to fix it myself and send it back again. When I tried to send it back for warranty though I was told the warranty had ended in September when it should have ended in March. This was somehow a mistake on BestBuy's part (the warranty had started 6 months before the laptop was even purchased, but eventually got it resolved/reset, since my account clearly showed the purchase information. By the time it was resolved, it was only days to the end of the warranty. Finally got an RMA and sent it in. The laptop was purchased online on the 22, but picked up on the 27th. My purchase date at Bestbuy.com reflects. this (Can we display your purchase date?*(3/27/2021)). Anyway an RMA was given and it was sent. Upon receiving it they said it was not going to be repaired under warranty, because the warranty was expired because it was received after the 22nd. Finally got them to agree that maybe, based on the purchase date, it was still under warranty. Then, they said it wasn't going to be fixed due to damage and that it needed a new motherboard. Repair cost was going to be 3 dollars less than I paid for it new a year before. There was no damage, and it was pointed out it was not sent in because it wasn't working, but because the keyboard intermittently worked and the laptop worked just fine with an external keyboard. Then they said it wasn't going to be repaired due to spillage on the keyboard? There was no spillage. What are they talking about? I think maybe that is just their standard excuse for not repairing keyboards. Well, the warranty is definitely expired now. Note I am writing this a MONTH later and still don't have the laptop. So while their reason seems to keep changing, one thing is clear, they are not going to fix the laptop under warranty no matter what. I can buy a new laptop for less than they want to charge to have this one fixed. So I am having it returned. They say there is no guarantee it will still be in working condition when it is returned. It was in working condition when it was received, it seems it should be in the same condition when it is returned. My hope is, the reason their story kept changing was because they never even bothered to open it up and look at it. Once I get it back, since the warranty is now actually over, if it is still working, I will open up the case, reseat the cable, and I expect everything will work fine. After this experience, I guess I will have to rethink adding to my Lenovo collection. Too bad because I really like their products and was kind of eyeing the Chromebook Duet 5. Oh well.

I bought this laptop for the start of the new school year as a senior and I needed something smaller and more portable than my old 15.5 inch. This laptop is the perfect size for me and its pretty lightweight. I really like the fingerprint scanner as it makes logging in super quick. I'm on my laptop for most of the day (13 hours sometimes) and the battery is advertised to last 10 hours and it does for the most part. As long as the screen brightness is dimmed and you have the best battery life thingy on, then the battery works great. The picture quality for movies and photos and such is amazing as well as the sound! I can have 9 tabs open and the computer still works flawlessly. No lagging or noticeable performance problems.I don't use the tablet mode but the computer does easily fold. One thing I did notice is that the battery indicator seems to not work very well. In a matter of half an hour it would say I have 8 hours then randomly drop down to 3. Aside from the inaccurate battery report, I haven't noticed any problems with the longevity of the battery. Another problem is with the webcam, which is a little grainy I noticed. I rarely use my webcam, only when I'm required, so it is not a problem for me. However, if you are someone who uses zoom, skype, google meet, your camera will be a bit grainy and unfocused.Someone had told me the microphone in the laptop sounded a little off when I spoke, but later they said I sounded better.Overall, the laptop is good for its price. Has great visuals, sound is superb, and battery is decent. Wish it spanned 12 hours but it works. Only downside really is the webcam (for students).

Do not buy it! It had issues since I bought it.
10 January 2022

I bought this more than a year ago. It had some issues since I bought it. The first issue was its battery which would not charge occasionally. The second issue was its display which has some lines in the bottom of the screen when windows starts and goes away after like 10 min. The most annoying issue is its wireless adapter which stops working like once in 2 or three months. I talked to a lenovo technician who helped me with some network reset , ip and config reset which didn't help but because it worked again after a day, I didn't continue calling them. But right now its wifi does not work and I really regret buying this product as it still has all three issue. This is honestly the happiest I have been with any computer I have owned and I've had several starting back in around the late 90's.It is lightning fast and absolutely NO bloatware whatsoever preloaded. I have always hated all the junk software that comes with computers, Lenovo did the best thing by recognizing that problem and not doing it. I have never bought a Lenovo prior to this so i do not know if they have always done this, but to me that alone is worth buying this laptop. The only reason for a 4 star is the speaker volume, I know its a laptop and I know its not going to be extremely loud but they point out the Dolby Atmos speaker system so I just wish it could go a little bit louder than it is.My other small gripe is that there doesn't seem to be a way ... MoreThis is honestly the happiest I have been with any computer I have owned and I've had several starting back in around the late 90's.It is lightning fast and absolutely NO bloatware whatsoever preloaded. I may well be wrong about this so if I am, its just my inexperience with the Yoga design and features.Overall this is a fantastic laptop and I highly recommend this Lenovo and Lenovo overall, I have owned Acers, HPs, Dells, a Windows Surface, and I also fix PCs, laptops and such for friends and family and thinking back no-one has ever brought a Lenovo to me for issues at all obviously for a good reason. Solid machine, great features, clearly a solid dependable computer company.

Hard Pass
10 September 2021

I am a student studying from home. I bought this laptop from Best Buy to use for Zoom meetings and various other assignments. I am also an art student so I needed a laptop that I am able to draw with. I purchased it just over a year ago, as of writing this review. The internal cooling fan broke loose about a month after purchase. Every time I would power the device on, it would make a horrible screeching noise. Best Buy told me that there’s nothing they could do (event though it was still under warranty). I took it to an independent repair shop and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. I am also an art student so I needed a laptop that I am able to draw with. I purchased it just over a year ago, as of writing this review. I called Lenovo multiple times. On the third or fourth try, I finally was able to speak to a woman who said she worked for Lenovo. She gave me the US number to call, and it turned out to be a completely different company. Since I couldn’t get help from anyone, I filled out an e ticket online and sent in to be repaired. It was returned to me fixed, but the touch screen had stopped working. A month after I got it back, I began having issues where the laptop wasn’t charging. (The charging light was on but it wasn’t getting any power) The laptop would either shut down or turn the screen off on its own. I sent it back in and had it repaired a second time. It was sent back to me with the screen fixed, but it still has trouble charging. When I got it back for the second time, the finger print reader didn’t work, as well as the touch screen. As for physical issues with the laptop, small screws are constantly falling out of the bottom and getting lost. If I try to flip the screen back to use the tablet mode, the bottom right corner of the screen begins to pop off. When the laptop is closed, the hinges come apart and have to be popped back into place regularly. The material feels very cheap and can be bent easily. The lid, when closed, doesn’t sit flat against the bottom of the laptop, so the corners are always raised slightly. Overall, I advise everyone to avoid this laptop. It is cheap and unreliable. The touch screen was what sold me on it, but only worked for a month. The customer service was embarrassingly bad. I will not be buying from Lenovo again, and I highly suggest you do the same.

Loved it, but incredibly poor build quality

It pains me to say this, but DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!I've had this laptop for just shy of a year and have become increasingly frustrated by the product the longer I've had it. At first glance, the build quality seemed great, the internal specs are great for the price, and the laptop definitely has a solid premium feel. I was initially really satisfied with my purchase! But as time went on, I've had several inexcusable problems with this product. For context, I'm an graduate student in an engineering program and am quite capable of troubleshooting computer related problems (my other PC is a workstation I built myself). I bought this as a travel companion for occasionally taking my work on the go and for video calls, with the intention of giving it infrequent use.Perhaps most frustratingly, the built-in microphone array is faulty (and has been as long as I've had the device). It cuts in and out intermittently without warning and nothing I tried seemed to address the issue. It was so bad that I had to get a separate USB webcam in order to complete any video calls.I also typically plug in my device to an external monitor, and that has also been an incredibly frustrating experience. For some inexplicable reason, the display on the 2nd monitor randomly cuts to black for several seconds at a time, during which I cannot interact with my PC. At first I thought it was the monitor or the HDMI cable, or my usb-c to hdmi adapter, but none of those were the problem; it seems to be a hardware or firmware issue.Lastly, I've had the internal cooling fan on this device seize up and jam on me several times. I am always very conscious of where I place my laptop (i.e., not on fabric surfaces, dust-free locations, etc.) and after cleaning the fan, the issue persisted, though somehow corrected itself eventually. This issue was really the breaking point for me, as the device has been nearly unusable when the fan jams.Overall, I really wanted to like this product, but I've had so many issues related to the build quality that I have been seriously considering a new laptop after less than a year. This experience has completely ruined my perception of Lenovo and as such I would recommend anyone considering a new laptop purchase to steer clear of anything Lenovo right now.

Not The Best Option

It does the job of browsing and working on documents. I like the idea of it going from a laptop to a tablet. I also love touchscreen and the size of the screen is great for drawing with. It sounds great and has a great/clear screen. Some things I don't like about the Lenovo is the constant loud running fan! I try not to push the computer too much and have had times where I may have one browser open just looking up recipes and it's so loud and hot. As I've researched I've seen many similar comments related to the fan. It is such a distraction and even runs when closed. I've had to change the setting to force sleep when the computer is closed so the computer does not overheat and drain my battery as it sits there. The camera is not the best but I'm not taking pictures with it just in online meetings so not too important. Also going back to the battery, it does not last as long as my HP Pavilion did nor my Mac. It also takes 2x the amount of time to finish charging. I don't mind working while it charges but it also defeats the purpose of portability.

Well built for a sale price

Overall this one has everything you might need for home / work use. Buy it fully loaded at a great discount and it will become a non complainer. However, for its regular price the battery average work time is still not as advertised as I bet on all Lenovo laptops. With this one you can expect an average of 5 - 7 hours on Core i7 which is not bad, but nowhere near the tested 10 - 13 hours advertised. I guess whenever they paid the third party to test it, they just turned the screen off while timing it. I guarantee that you are not getting 13 hours of non stop work even with its minimal configuration on its maximum windows power savings settings. The screen is a bit not to par with its 300 nits of brightness especially when you use it outside in sunny conditions. I ... MoreOverall this one has everything you might need for home / work use. The screen is a bit not to par with its 300 nits of brightness especially when you use it outside in sunny conditions. I can confidently say it is somewhere around 250 - 280 nits. The keyboard is good enough to use it for regular everyday typing and is better built than previous versions of this model. The touchpad is good enough for its price it does what its job is well enough. A few negatives are the absence of thunderbolt on the usb-c ports, although that could be excused if you buy it at cheap enough price. Also, for some reason this laptop still has the occasional squicks as its predecessor models, not sure if that is due to the metal structure and stiff hinges. However, even though it is less than its predecessors it has been there forever. After all the updated 10th gen processor and the faster memory will be enough power for your everyday tasks, even though they come with a Western Digital ssd instead of Samsung, I am guessing for cost measure purposes. As people are saying "you get what you pay for" is exactly right in this case, the only issue it to get the price right for what you are getting.
