LG 40WP95C-W 39.7 Inch Curved UltraWide 5K2K Nano IPS Monitor

I've had this monitor for over a week now and purchased it off a YouTube review I watched. I connected this screen to my MacBook Air and it's doing a phenomenal job of being the main display. The 5K slightly curved screen is great for the eyes, and I no longer need two expensive 5K screens. This one screen is all you need, with the bonus of no annoying gaps. As a UX and graphic designer, I can have my entire work flow open on one screen, including chats, emails, wireframes, programs and tool panels. So far the only con I can see, is with such a big screen set at 5K, I believe the text size may be too small for some people. The screen itself powers your MacBook, so you don't need the charge cord which I find to be a huge bonus since the MacBooks only have 2 Thunderbolt ports, and the monitor also has its own incredible speaker system in it. For those who buy a separate speaker for good sound during calls or for basic music, you won't need to as this is superb. If you're a bass lover, you'd still want to get yourself a bar or sub, however I find the sound quality is phenomenal for a monitor. Multiple thunderbolt hubs means you can daisy chain more thunderbolt screens if you need more space. I'd recommend this for designers, video editors, 3d modelling, etc. My Mac Studio is arriving soon, and will just plug it in to that. The price was also a huge factor – I was looking at upwards of $2000+ per 27"/30" 5K screen (I only need two), but instead I was able to pay far less for just one stunning 5K screen. You won't regret it. One of my favourite features is the stand/base that comes with this monitor. It's a slimline curved piece, silver and subtle. Some monitors come with huge, clunky bases, leaving no room on your desk, but the scythe-like curve of this one leaves plenty of room for things you may still require to sit on your desk. Lastly, I am currently sitting only half a metre from the screen, and my desk is 1202W x 602D – meaning you don't need a massive desk just for this one screen.

95% great, but kind of dim when dealing with a bright room

I'm using this with a 2019 MBP via Thunderbolt. Initially, I couldn't get it to work above 50 Hz, but then discovered that I was only using a 20 Gbps Thunderbolt cable. I swapped out for the one that came with the monitor and immediately got 72 Hz. For my uses, either one would be fine, but debugging was annoying me. Built in charging and the USB hub is very nice, but I wish there was one more USB port so I could have a keyboard, mouse, and camera all plugged in without dongles or hubs.My only real issue with this is that it just isn't bright enough to use in a bright area with full desert sunlight reflecting off of everything and a relatively low-contrast theme. A beast of a monitor that delivers

For my testing I used HDMI, but I know Thunderbolt has its advantages and over time will be experimenting with that. I know there is software to split windows but I'm old school and prefer to do so manually.The screen is certainly immersive. Even though there isn't as much real estate as dual 27's, the curved form looks better than two angled flat monitors. The first test run I did was work related. I had multiple programs running - Chrome, QuickBooks, Excel, Word. The biggest advantage was not having to drag a window from one monitor to another which has a delay. Manipulating multiple windows on this beast was effortless. I did some minor tweaking to settings, and the fonts were crisp and clear. I moved onto YouTube to watch some videos. Such a pleasure with a larger monitor. I noticed no video lag, and it looked great. I found the colors to be natural and not over saturated. I never use monitor speakers but I did give them a listen. They are decent for a monitor, but I'm spoiled with my personal PC sound setup.Bottom line is I would definitely recommend this monitor. I am considering getting a second one to run duals.

Can't fault for using for work.

Purchased for working from home, after having used this exact monitor in the office. Replaced a dual 24 inch monitor setup. Good for having Outlook on one half, and Team on the other, or two Excel spreadsheets side by side. Works at the full resolution with both my work laptop (Intel) and my M1 Macbook Pro, with both laptops just using the the USBC cable for both monitor and power. One cable replaced the power cable, the HDMI, the USBC monitor cable as well. I did look at some 34 inch monitors in this category, from Phillips and also HP, which were similarly priced (even a bit cheaper with the sales at the time), but I ended up buying this one because LG also have a good reputation, and as I have used these at work, and they are great. The control is by a little joystick bottom centre of the screen which I found intuitive to use.I mainly use this for work, so I can't fault this monitor for this purpose.

Cool monitor, not great for 2021 MacBook Pro

I owned this display for a couple weeks. I wanted to love it. The dimensions were great and I really enjoyed the screen size. The built-in power block and daisy chaining for Thunderbolt are also good features. Unfortunately, this displays PPI is not adequate for the Apple Silicon 2021 MacBook Pro. At the monitor's native resolution, Apple UI icons on the screen are very small. Apple's scaling options made the icons too large for my taste, wasting screen space IMO. I returned the monitor for a 2020 LG model that has a PPI closer to 110. If you search for awhile online you can find articles about this, but unfortunately neither Apply nor LG are upfront about the PPI issue. Don’t Buy Open Box!

I purchased one of these new a few months ago and really like the size and image quality. I decided to add a second, but the price had increased significantly so I opted for buying an open box “excellent” unit instead of new. I often buy open box from Best Buy and had never had a bad experience until now. The monitor was not packaged anywhere close to excellent or even good quality, and hardware necessary for setting up on the stand was missing. I contacted Best Buy to ask about getting just the hardware, or a discount since the unit I was shipped only met open box fair quality (per the description), but I paid for excellent. Even though Best Buy refused to send the hardware or discount for the incorrect quality rating I tried to buy hardware to set up the monitor ... MoreI purchased one of these new a few months ago and really like the size and image quality. A cheaper open box from another retailer arrived in like-new condition in the original packaging with all the components the next day. Definitely will not be paying for for lower quality open box from Best Buy in the future, especially considering how awful the support experience was!

Fantastic Display!!

This display is in my opinion the best option on the market right now for a lot of different types of users, but especially for mac owners. The display is large, bright, clear and works flawlessly.I really like the design with the white back, a detachable power cord! (NOT a horrible power brick) beautiful and functional stand but it's also out of the box VESA mountable!This display gets an A+ in a lot of areas for me. I really like the controls which are very easy to engage with and understand using the joystick that is in the middle of the display at the bottom. Thunderbolt 4 for the display, and if your device supports it there's a 2nd Thunderbolt port that will allow you to daisy chain a second display, DisplayPort, 2 HDMI ports. There are 2 USB Ports that are on the right side of the display (another attention to detail that I appreciate). The refresh rate is 72Hz (a bit better than the 60Hz on most monitors), Color is spot on. I work from home and this is my everything display! Plenty of room for spreadsheets, 300nits of brightness for photo editing and a wide screen movie fits the screen beautifully with the 21:9 aspect ratio. I think the price point is really a good bargain for everything that you get in this display.

The 60Hz Frequency is far more than adequate, the resolution comes in at 3440 x 1440 and it has inputs/outputs for everything you need to do.I was able to free up a USB port and ditch my add-on speakers, the LG Curved UltraWide™ 34'' QHD IPS Display Monitor has Maxx Audio sounds very crisp and clear when working. It also provides top-notch audio to match the visual experience.I do recommend to have a helping hand when unboxing and inserting the stand, it was easy but awkward to hold because of this amazing wide screens size. I am eventually going to mount it, but it comes with a nice stand. It moves up and down easily, which is perfect since I am 4’11” and it also tilts for comfort. The LG Curved UltraWide™ 34'' QHD IPS Display Monitor has improved my workday tremendously, I love it.

My First Widescreen Monitor!

This is not only my first LG monitor but also the largest monitor I have owned as well as my first, widescreen. I absolutely cannot believe that I can do what was taking me two separate monitors on just this one monitor. This was the main point, or desire, in my wanting to own a widescreen monitor was to be able to condense and not have to use multiple monitors. So this also means using less electricity as well. I did not know until after the fact that it has built-in speakers. The sound quality is excellent and does not distort at higher volumes. I was using a wireless Bluetooth speaker but I have switched over to using LG's internal speaker on this monitor which also uses this technology called Waves MaxxAudio. There are many settings options such as Custom, Cinema, Vivid, HDR Effect, FPS, RTS, and a reader mode (that has that sort of tablet sepia color to it). I will generally use the Custom feature. I like the Super Resolution+ and Black Level settings as it makes the text stand out better. Under Settings, Picture, Color Adjust, there is a Gamma feature with four separate modes. Choosing Mode 3 enhances text clarity even further and is what I am currently using. Other features include the ability to tilt the monitor forward and back. It does not have an option to raise the height of the monitor and if I had to list any cons that are literally the only one I can think of. On the rear of the monitor where the ports are there is a USB-C port which could be used to charge any devices that use a USB-C charge cable. This is definitely a monitor I would recommend for anyone to use and I mean that especially if you are working from home or for any businesses seeking to upgrade their current monitors for their employees. This is such a major space saver being able to use this one monitor and it looks so much cleaner as well.

Vast real estate

Wow, this is an awesome upgrade. We have it in the kitchen where my wife works from home a few days a week. She's using it to extend her desktop on the work laptop she uses. We replaced a regular 1080p monitor with this one and it's as different as night and day. Not only is this monitor lighter but it has a lot of modern inputs on the back. To me this is light as a feather. She can now have more open windows visible at the same time but those windows are larger. A lot less eye strain trying to real tiny figures jammed into a smaller screen and she doesn't have to keep alternating expanding different windows to see/move figures between them. Easier to see and more to see at once, I would call that a definite win in both comfort and productivity. The stand was also ... MoreWow, this is an awesome upgrade. Not only is it heavy enough to keep the monitor from tipping over if accidentally jostled, but it is wide enough that it doesn't interfere with the desk space directly in front & underneath the monitor. I did bowwow it one weekend to try it out and found that the colors looked great and there was no problem watching an HD video while also having another window open to browse the web or check my emails. Very much worth it to take advantage of a modern sized monitor.
