Very pleased with this purchase. Came well packed and delivered by a meticulous courier.Having transitioned to the 55â model to this Tv from a 2012 Sony Bravia 40â, I fancied trying a different brand and one that wasnât lumbered with the sluggish android operating systems present on some other brands.I was taken with the LGâs interface, magic remote and array of capabilities that werenât available on my previous tv. Furthermore you can use the magic remote to interact with that device as you see it on screen, clever stuff!Putting pictures or video onscreen is also slick and will be a function I can imagine using more often.Apps are available for install; Iâve only bothered with YouTube so far. I found the lip sync on videos was out when watching footage. I guess this is down to a software glitch and hopefully something which LG will resolve at some point if itâs a common complaint. The TV also has low power consumption (uses less than my previous TV when turned on) and when in standby uses less than a watt so if as I you intend to leave it plugged in you donât have to worry about your energy meter spinning as fast.In summary great TV, canât fault it as canât stop watching it. Hope the review helps others contemplating a new TV.Nice one Richer Sounds.

The first thing I thought about when lockdown was imposed and I was told I had to shield until July'20 was how can I improve my televisual experience for the foreseeable future without breaking the bank. I already had a 43" LG in my lounge connected to an LG surround system which puts out excellent sound reproduction so I decided I needed a larger screen, more processing power and a good selection of apps to run through my wireless network.Having set my budget I began researching and found the 55SM8600PLA ticked all the boxes and could be found on sale with various retailers for just over £600.00 which made it great value compared to the nearest OLED model in their range. I purchased it from Richer Sounds, online,as they were offering next day delivery and a 6 year warranty. On arrival it was very easy to attach the stand (just protect the screen while you do this), plug in an aerial and connect to my surround system via optical cable. Plug in, switch on and it does pretty much everything automatically. It upgraded the software and some of its apps and I was watching a movie on Netflix within minutes.I'd give it a day or to to settle in before tweaking any of the many settings available and I found that, out of the box, it was still a great picture. All I've done is tweaked it to suit the ambient light in my lounge and set the sound up to play optimally through the LG 5.1 system.I have to say lockdown has been made a heck of a lot more pleasurable, and way less boring, by the addition of this TV to our viewing lives. I would definitely recommend this model and haven't seen any of the issues that others have criticised this model for such as blacks showing blue or contrast levels not being up to scratch. And we love the Magic Remote which came with it and gives the viewer the ability to issue voice commands or link it to Alexa and other proprietary speech recognition software. All in all I'm very pleased with my purchase indeed.

This TV looks stunning in the right light - which unusually is a bright room. The colour replication is great, is surprisingly bright for an IPS panel, and has great viewing angles. However, in a darkish room we found it nearly unwatchable. As an edge-lit TV you should expect some light bleed from around the edge of the screen. Normally this just means that the screen is a little brighter there and blacks are a little grey. However, on the TV we received there are several distinct areas where it looks like there are LEDs pointing directly onto our side of the screen (a very visible white glow can be seen). This is incredibly distracting for anything with lots of black (star wars being the example in our case) or when watching films that are letterboxed (black strips ... MoreThis TV looks stunning in the right light - which unusually is a bright room. It seems that this is a common problem with this TV, so I would recommend you look out for this when receiving yours.Over general comments:- The WebOS interface is the best TV inerface I've used. It was very quick and responsive and has pretty much every app you could want. You're unable to watch live ITV or channel 4 using their apps though (but can catch up on programmes).- The magic remote is great once you get used to it (you can point at things with it like a mouse). However, it would be nice to choose what the "movies" button did.- The wire management on the stand is great.- The sound from the normal speakers is surprisingly good once you've set it up a little (and even better when using Dolby Atmos).Unfortunately for us the screen bleeding was too much of an annoyance to ignore. If you were planning on putting this in a light room it would likely do you well though.

I hummed and hawed about replacing the LG 42inch in my living room for ages. Then coronavirus struck and I had to make some adjustments to the way we live. The 42inch headed up to a bedroom and the LG 55SM8600PLA now resides in my living room where the larger screen really comes into its own. There are so many ways to set this TV up I'm sure it would look great virtually anywhere and the sound can be tweaked to give a reasonably wide sound stage but volume and tone still leave a little to be desired so I run the set through my LG home cinema system and movies, Netflix etc sound great. This set also has built in access to Netflix, NOW tv, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, UKTV Play, C5 OD and C4 OD so there's not need for any peripheral add ons. You Can also record to a USB drive or HDD so no need for an extra DV recorder. It does everything my wife and I want to to and more, the viewing angle is excellent and the Magic Remote is very useful. Just tell the tv to go to BBC1 HD, or NOW tv and it does so with no fuss or faffing about. There are plenty of external connections: HDMI, USB, Optical and component and digital out to name a few. I love that you can customise the way you view subtitles and small touches like that. And it was easy to set up. I think out of the box, screwing on the stand and plugging it in took about 25-30 minutes before I was sitting watching the latest Coronavirus update. For the price, and if you don't think upgrading to OLED is worth the extra money (as I don't yet) I would highly recommend this model.
This TV was great at first, but as so many other reviews I have read since, my tv has a black streak in the center making it darker than the rest of the picture. It also has the white marks all across the bottom of the screen stretching upwards. It gets VERY hot at the bottom as well. Itâs not enjoyable to watch anymore as our main big screen tv in the living room. We have people over for football every Sunday and this tv is going to need to be replaced. LG is not willing to help because itâs not covered by warranty anymore. Itâs an obvious manufacturerâs defect and they should fix or replace every single one. We work too hard for our money.
Our most recent primary television purchase was an LG 60UH7700 Super UHD in late 2016 and the installation/use of that TV was straightforward so the expectation was already in place for a similar experience this time around. As we completed an initial functionality test I was initially pleased to see no visible issues with the set. Once we got it mounted on the TV stand I started to notice the cosmetic changes that have happened over the past couple of years vs. our prior TV. At first setup the screen had an unpleasant red tint and provided nowhere near the clarity our previous LG 4K TV had even after ensuring the satellite set-top box maintained its video settings. After testing the picture quality using 3 separate HDMI cables (including two supporting the HDMI 2.0b specs), two different inputs and every available picture mode I was concerned that it may be defective. Finally after approximately 40-50 different custom settings Iâve gotten it to the level of semi-satisfaction but still not to the point of our prior set. Iâve included my current settings below just in case someone else has similar results along with some proâs and conâs I have for our new NanoCell TV.PROâS-Sleek appearance -Moderately simple install, even for hanging on a mount-Clean inputs layout on rear of TV -Magic Remote, now has voice and quick launch buttons-UHD picture quality looks great w/improved black levels-webOS and itâs simplicity to navigate-New âPicture Modeâ options including calibrated settingsCONâS-Almost impossible to grip TV without touching the screen while mounting-New âHome Dashboardâ seems like a step backwards when compared to the improvements of webOS over previous versions-Unpleasant and fuzzy picture quality without fine tuning-Sound sync needs to have options for adjusting both ways-Poor assembly quality (top center of back panel bulging out, see pic)UPDATE: After using and fine tuning the TV for a few weeks Iâm confident this is an improvement over previous iterations (w/out NanoCell) and the black levels far exceed our previous LG 4k TV. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.
I love everything about the TV from the easy setup to the movie theater experience at home. I mounted my TV to the wall and that was the hardest part of the process a bonus to that is when the screen saver comes on the TV transforms into some beautiful artwork. Lets start with the LG Magic remote it really helps speed up the process of setting up all the streaming services with the mouse like controls, making it a breeze to log into Netflix and Amazon Video. The voice search works flawlessly through google assistant and can find any movie or TV shows you want and it shows you what platforms have it available. The first thing I wanted to test out on my new TV was to watch a 4K movie and I have been waiting to watch Blade Runner: The Final Cut in all its glory. I was blown away by the lifelike colors and the black levels with Dolby Atmos and Dolby vision It was better than watching it in the Cinema, it was the most immersive experience I have ever had at home. I did not think I could top the experience of this it really felt like I had just watched the movie for the very first time. The color spectrum of this TV is superb I got lost watching movies on it. I then moved over to gaming on this system playing Forza and Assassins Creed to test out gaming in HDR. The TV automatically detected the games and put everything into HDR mode and it was beautiful. The whites and blacks looked amazing and I could read all the subtitles from my couch. I usually find them blurry and need my glasses, not with this TV. Summing up this TV I am very impressed by the features that I have tried out so far. The colors and sound are amazing with no visual loss that I can see. This is a superb TV for gaming, streaming and 4K movies. I have really fallen in love with the LG nano series of TVs. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.
The 2019 LG NanoCell is an amazing TV for the price, and I wholeheartedly recommend.I was immediately surprised by how thin the bezels and overall screen wereSet up is smooth thanks to the LG magic remote, which turns the remote into a sort of Bluetooth laser pointer. It makes putting in usernames and passwords for the WIFI and streaming services less of a chore- gone are the days of frantically clicking the remote arrows to navigate an onscreen keyboard. All the major cord cutting services are available an app in the LG store (Hulu, Youtube tv, Netflix, Amazon, Plex, Sling, Youtube, Google play movies, etc). In fact, that is one of the biggest takeaways I had after the first hour of playing around with the TV- the UI/ operating system is very snappy. It makes the smart tv feel feature complete- most smart TVs are a bit laggy as you switch between apps and use it as anything more than a screen. It supports all the HDR standards available. Not worrying about the HDR format wars when buying a TV is a nice perk. Picture quality is stunning. The resolution bump up to 4k is nice, but the colors and contrast when you put on HDR content is mind blowing. The 8 series NanoCell only has local dimming. This means there is less contrast between light and dark areas on the screen. I also noticed some back light bleed around the edges, especially in scenes that are mostly black/ loading screens for apps. For the most part, I did not notice it while viewing content, especially when using the cinema/expert dark room modes, as the backlight is set lower. The TV will pass through Dolby Atmos onto a sound bar or receiver from smart apps or other peripherals plugged directly into the TV.Great picture and features for the price, especially considering the marginal improvements in the 9 series. Feels like a true smart TV with the improved processor, leading to a very quick and snappy menus and apps. Supports every audio and HDR standard available. If you go check out an OLED tv and donât feel the price difference is worth the improved contrast, this is the TV for you.*Disclaimer: I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.
I purchased an LG 65 sm8600pua nanocell television as a Christmas gift for myself and my family. It was an upgrade over a 55" TV that had served us well but was nearing it's tenth birthday. Cute age for a child but a bit long in the tooth for a television. We were quite pleased with all elements and features of the set until about seven months in. At this point I noticed a faint line crossing the screen. It wasn't very pronounced but just one of those things like losing a tooth as a child. You can't help putting your tongue on the spot. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have to put my tongue on the screen, nasty, it's just not being able to see anything but that line! Don't get me wrong, I didn't have to put my tongue on the screen, nasty, it's just not being able to see anything but that line! I contacted LG and in no time flat they had a technician with the correct parts on the truck, miracles of miracles right, and promptly cured the TV's ailment! Yeah! All remained well until about 13 months later. A different screen defect began to catch my eye just like the lost tooth. It was just a whiteish discoloration in a small section of the screen. Knowing the TV was a pretty good margin beyond manufacturers warranty I still contacted LG to see what needed to be done. I spoke to a couple of reps, I sent a couple of photos, a pretty good trick for my 63 year old brain to pull off while still on the phone, and awaited a reply. I was notified quickly that a one time parts and labor repair would be made, as a friend of mine used to say, free and at no charge!! Guess if I was happy? If you said no you should seek medical help! Shortly there after a large box was delivered and shortly after that a really nice man named Russell showed up and brought my TV back to it's original beauty! Lets go backwards. Russell is great. FedEx is great for bringing the big box. Servright is great for coordinating the repair. The customer service folks on the phone were great. Last but not least by a long shot is LG, have you guessed it, that's right, they're GREAT!! In closing, as appreciated as when an old Baptist preacher says that in a 99 degree sanctuary, I am not one to endlessly pontificate over positive reviews. Conversely I am the don't say a darn thing when I'm happy and whine and moan endlessly when I'm let down kind. This is that exception. LG has proven themselves to be the kind of company we all wish companies would be but are almost never even close! Thank you LG as a business and thank you each and everyone I encountered in this experience. I will continue to shout your name and names at my every opportunity.
Bought my LG 65SM8600PTA as the best option around below the OLED option. I'd give it 4.8 stars. Compared with the other brands, and being out of the budget for an OLED tv, this was the best option I could find in my weeks long research. And the Black Friday's deal with the local retailer, just made the purchase an absolute win.Picture is really great, excellent colours, great blacks. With the blacks, I had the fortune to look it in a shop where it was next to an LG OLED TV, and struggled to notice differences in blacks (it's really those dark scenes where you can notice any), and at the time I would have not given twice as much money for that extra edge that the OLED gives.Things that could have been done better for a full 5 star rating is:a) The internal ... MoreBought my LG 65SM8600PTA as the best option around below the OLED option. That would normally be fine if one could install the channel's app, but this was neither possible (and the tv's app section recognises, and seem to be allowing apps from channels that normal person have never heard about)b) More internal storage/memory to store in tv's internal Image app would have been great. Shame, such a good feature of the tv where you can have pictures like famous works of art, or stunning landscape photographs, displayed in a (ever changing, appropriate picture frame) while tv is in a stand-by mode/not watched, your tv wall instantly turns into a wall of art of your choosing.
