I personally like the LG wow cast box which allows you to connect the two back speakers via their cables and connects over the Wi-Fi from the sound bar saving you having to run cables from front to back genius. The sub woofer is also wireless. The upward firing three front speaker's throw the Dolby Atmos into the air to truly immerse you. The back speakers are small but powerful. It has lots of Audio formats here are a few- Dolby Digital and Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, Dolby Digital Surround, DTS-HD HRA, DTS-HD MA DTS X IMAX DTS IMAX PCM. As you can see truly amazing I definitely recommend this unit you can even use it as a sound system. You won't be disappointed trust me I'm not and the price was sensational.

The accompanying app allows the soundstage to be auto calibrated for your room setup and allows the soundbar to be easily connected to the wifi for music and alexa streaming. The soundstage when connected via arc to my 6800xt gpu with dolby atmos was impressive. The music scores in the Revenant film and the deep bass of arrow thump hit hard. The rear speakers despite a single driver and small size punched hard and provided excellent surround sound when required without feeling like they struggled. Vocals did appear to be a little low at first but a quick change to the center channel via the app to boost this balanced it nicely. Its an impressive sound for such a sleek package and I was more than happy enough to get rid of my bulky old 5.1 setup for this. The passthrough works perfectly with both PC and PS5 allows VRR but only up to 4k 60. Tested optical input and BT streaming and both worked as expected with no perceptible audio issues. As with everything nothing is perfect. The feet of the soundbar as simple rubber nubs and not adjustable so to clear the TV stand I had to use some isolation speaker mounts see picture. Adjustable feet would be a great addition. As previously mentioned 4k @60hz should ideally be 4k @120hz at this price range same as competitors but not a deal breaker for most users. Rear speaker wall mounts should also be included.

Fantastic Sound - a bit fiddly to set up....
23 September 2023

I bought this to replace a Denon cinema sound amp that I also purchased from Richer Sounds...Fantastic noise from the LG S80 and its reasonably small footprint for a sound bar and speakers.Bass is amazing to the point where it needs turning down a bit....Wiring is a little frustrating as the Apps on the TV outputting to the Soundbar require different settings to the Cable set top box doing the same and they dont always automatically recognise each other.Definitely helps to add the LG Sound bar app to your phone and download the software updates the S80 had waiting. Also of note as I had missed this, the rear speakers are not completely wireless like those on the S95, they are wired to a wireless controler that then like the Subwoffer wirelessly connects to ... MoreI bought this to replace a Denon cinema sound amp that I also purchased from Richer Sounds...Fantastic noise from the LG S80 and its reasonably small footprint for a sound bar and speakers.Bass is amazing to the point where it needs turning down a bit....Wiring is a little frustrating as the Apps on the TV outputting to the Soundbar require different settings to the Cable set top box doing the same and they dont always automatically recognise each other.Definitely helps to add the LG Sound bar app to your phone and download the software updates the S80 had waiting. Also of note as I had missed this, the rear speakers are not completely wireless like those on the S95, they are wired to a wireless controler that then like the Subwoffer wirelessly connects to the soundbar.Overal it makes a fantastic sound - the setup is a bit fiddly but ultimately worth persevering with.

Great Sound and Features

The LG S80QR has great sound quality for the price. Well packaged for shipment with lots of padding. It paired nicely with my OLED55CXPUA using the HDMI-ARC cable included. It has super crisp and clear dialog and fills my 400sqft den with immersive 5.1.3 ch sound. Was easy to set up, however, the enclosed manual comes up short so you'll need to go to LG support and download the info and I highly recommend the LG Sound Bar app for your phone as the remote comes up short on ease of use. The three up-firing speakers on the sound bar make a huge difference when watching movies in Dolby Atmos and the center one during dialog. Connectivity is ok, it did drop HDMI-ARC once in past month to where I had to restart both TV and Sound Bar after a 2 minute unplug wait. WIFI did kick in when HDMI dropped. Bluetooth works great with my android phone but would not connect to my Intel based PC. All PC drivers have been updated but my PC won't "allow" the connection even though it paired. It did connect with WiFi under split-screen mode through my TV for PC sound to the sound bar. Has a lot of useful features and I look forward to adding a Blu-ray player next.

Great soundbar with some configuration limitations
5 December 2022

This 5.1.3 surround sound soundbar system is well worth the value if you get it on sale and save $500. The system is relatively easy to unpack and set up. I did uncover a couple of crucial limitations that LG didn't outline in their user manual. If your TV supports 4k at 120hz and you connect your HDMI 2.1 video source to the soundbar, using 4k passthrough to the TV via ARC, you will be limited to 60hz. To resolve this issue, connect your video source directly to one of the 4k HDMI 2.1 ports on your TV and use the e-ARC port back to your soundbar.Incidentally, this will solve the other problem of SimpLink connectivity, and when you turn on your LT TV, it will power on the soundbar, which will default to ARC. This is what you want. In the previous scenario with the video source connected via HDMI to the soundbar, when powering on the TV/Soundbar, the soundbar always defaults to ARC when you need it to be HDMI. Since you cannot control the video input for the soundbar via the LG "magic" remote, you need to have the soundbar remote sitting around to press that one input button to switch it to HDMI input every time you turn the system on. It's very annoying. Best to go from video source to TV and output audio to the soundbar via the e-ARC cable from your TV to the soundbar. There are two issues LG technical support couldn't help me with, and I figured them out independently.Otherwise, the immersive, high-resolution sound is excellent. The wireless rear receiver works great, sits on the floor behind our couch, is a good 14 feet from the soundbar, and has no issues. The feature set of this soundbar is quite good. It supports all pertinent high-quality audio formats and has many convenience options. An e-ARC cable is also supplied, which is good, although it's kind of short. If you have this soundbar centred under an 86-inch LG TV, you can just run the cable diagonally to connect it to the TV. Not great if you want to run some cable management to keep things super tidy. You will be able to connect it, though, which is the most important thing.

It's easy to be impressed with this sound bar initially, and yes, it sounds great with Film / TV (when eventually set up correctly - expect to be frustrated for a while - it's not exactly plug and play when sorting out the settings between the different external devices - and there's not a lot of help to be found with this anywhere either - so you need a bit of technical know-how - I'm sure LG could improve this experience!) and a lot better than the TV speakers. However, the longer you play with it you realise how limited it is...especially when considering how expensive it is. For starters, the stereo soundfield is terrible. However, the longer you play with it you realise how limited it is...especially when considering how expensive it is. For starters, the stereo soundfield is terrible. EQ wise it's great, but It may as well be a wide mono coming from the front. There is no sense of a wider sound stage from the front AT ALL. Yes, the centre channel is nice and bright and projects well for speech, but this comes at the expnse of true left / centre / right signals - ie. the centre infomation is biased to be slightly brighter meaning the left and right signals are dull, flat and lifeless. As far as I can tell, there is NO setting to change this! It's stuck in this mode. Now this works well for TV / film (mostly) but I tried a few 5.1 music mixes and demonstration disks and they just sound wrong when checking individual speakers - and explains why there's no decent stereo experience at all! The top end of the L / R channels seems to be put in the centre (and so I'm guessing this sound bar is squarely aimed at TV only!) No decent stereo image at all. Also, the app has stopped working after a week, which is frustrating, so I need to set it up again. No idea why? And note, there are NO user EQ settings, just all presets - some of which are utterly pointless and will never be used (and there's no preset or way to disable the centre channel brightness bias or EQ to attain true stereo / 5.1. The balance settings can be adjusted for all the speakers apart form the L / R channels too - so it's a real balancing act if you want to make your own adjustments?! Weird? Maybe this omission is something to do with the centre channel being extra bright? I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm a little underwhlemed at the moment as there's not enough controls to tweak things to your own liking. However, I got this half price with the TV (and so it was a punt / added extra) and I'd say at half price it was good value and certainly improves the general TV / film experience (I have other better options for music) The rear channels work well too, and the subwoofer is great in a small / medium sized room, but there's no real sense of the immersive up-firing that is the supposed selling point, so at full RRP I wouldn't be so sure this would be the best choice. The lack of any sense of wide stereo is the biggest down side. Sorry LG, but just being honest - but it's just not an 'all rounder'. Maybe they can improve these things with a firmware update? I hope so!

Room filling, bass thumping soundbar

Love this LG Soundbar. I’ve never had a separate subwoofer and it’s so amazing; almost like having a cinema in my living room. A great thing with the sub is that I can put it out of the way so I’ve put it in the back of the room and partially covered it with plants (look at the pic!). The bass thumps are so satisfying and the rear speakers make such a difference in immersion. It comes with dolby atmos so I always look forward to getting films and shows with it.Finally, connectivity is amazing. The subwoofer and the rear speakers connect wirelessly (though they need to be plugged in) which cuts down wires a lot. It can use chromecast which I use a lot to play room filling music, it has bluetooth and works with google assistant. Really can’t complain. Along with my LG TV I can control the soundbar just with the TV remote so I can put the soundbar remote away. Finally if you get the LG app on your phone you can use LG's AI sound calibrationg. This send sounds on the speakers and the builit in mics in the soundbard automatically calibrate the sound to your room, amazing. All in all very very impressed and super easy to use.

Superb sound in a small package
29 December 2022

I have had this sound bar now for a few weeks and I am simply impressed with the sound quality. Links to the new TV and watching films it's like being in the cinema. The surround speakers make the slightest noise in the back ground heard. The sound levels and adjustment to make it how we want it is unbelievable. It's improved our TV experience 100% better. My Mrs is harsh of hearing and she also has commented how she can her the TV so much more clearly and loves the films more. Great quality remote do easy to use. And when linked to my phone to Bluetooth my music over is yet a massive changer and the sound quality it well worth this for anyone to buy. People who have visited my house are amazed by it and just how loud and still clear the sound are. Watching any 4k film with dolby atmos is next level and we now enjoy waking and listening to films and programs all the more. Well done LG for this fantastic sound kit. You will not be disappointed

WOW!! LG & OLED Combination
19 May 2023

Bought this Soundbar as part of a LG OLED 55" deal and can honestly say I jave been blown away by the sound produced.Very simple and straightforward to install and setup. Using the LG App and following each step carefully I was enjoying Cinema Style sound in no time.Initially the Soundbar Display had the E-ARC logo on there permanently but this has been fixed with a software update allowing for all LED information to disappear....phew, my OCD was working overtime on that.Second major software update only just happened yesterday. Soundbar has synced with TV sound allowing for all speakers to work together...Called WOW Orchestra, all Dolby Atmos TV speakers work in unison with the bar giving a richer deeper more immersive sound....Gave the system a run with ... MoreBought this Soundbar as part of a LG OLED 55" deal and can honestly say I jave been blown away by the sound produced.Very simple and straightforward to install and setup.
