I replaced a 12 year old stacked Frigidaire unit with this wash tower and have no regrets. I chose this unit because it had the shortest depth and largest capacity for my small closet alcove. But the feature that really sold me was the fact I could now comfortably reach all the controls without getting on tip toes! I also didn’t think I would care much about the smart features but I like getting reminders on my watch when a load is done. I’ve owned 3 front load stacked units and I always feel like I’m making a compromise because I need to have space saving features at the expense of smaller capacity and the very likely a chance of getting the musty smell problem typical of many front load washers. This LG wash tower doesn’t make me feel like I’ve compromised. I’ve had the unit for 15 months and it works great and I don’t have any musty smells. As long as you let the wash tub air out after a load and periodically remove the dispenser to dry it out, this unit (and most later model front loads) should serve you well. I have a stacked Maytag unit in my back guest house that is about 4 years old and even though it has a slightly larger capacity, I think it takes longer to complete a load compared to this LG. Overall, I’m very happy with the LG unit and if it can go at least 2-3 years without me calling a repair genie, I am likely to purchase again. My old Frigidaire stacked unit always had to be repaired so I hope this LG can stand up over time. For a house we will be remodeling soon, I was originally designing for a laundry room to fit a traditional side by side set. But after having this LG wash tower, now I’m hoping to install two of these tower units side by side instead so we can double the laundry capacity in the new house. Thank you LG for designing a great product for us shorter people!

Buyer beware! Check where your electrical outlet is on the wall before purchasing. I have an older home, and the washer dryer outlet is towards the bottom of the wall. The dryer cord comes out from the very top of the unit, making it too short to reach the outlet. There are longer 3rd party replacement cords you can get, but the seller will not install it for us. Nor will any other appliance repair shops as it's a new unit. I had to call LG and really argue my way to getting an LG service person to come to do it. At first they were very resistant. This is a very frustrating problem. These stackable units are intended to solve small space problems yet they put the cord in an impossibly tall location so that you can only plug it into outlets in the middle or the top ... MoreBuyer beware! After reading all the reviews I had high hopes that this washer/dryer would do an adequate job but it seems like that isn't the case. As others mentioned the controls take a bit to get used to but after using it for a couple of weeks my view is that it's not too flexible when it comes to customizing the wash/dry cycles. I'm hoping that it's just me not knowing how to use it but I don't think that's the case. For my washes and drying I usually don't use the default settings since it's either not at the temperature I need or the length of time I need the cycle to last. With my old washers I can easily change the settings manually but with this unit I have to go through a somewhat extended process to achieve what I want. There really should be a way to save my choices ... MoreAfter reading all the reviews I had high hopes that this washer/dryer would do an adequate job but it seems like that isn't the case. There really should be a way to save my choices as a custom setting so that I don't have to do it every time but it seems like there isn't. Another thing that's disappointing is that I don't think it's washing the clothes clean. I even used they heavy soil setting but it didn't help. My kid is in basketball and lately the clothes have been soaked with sweat. I used to not wash it right away and as you can imagine the smell of the clothes was awful. I had to presoak the clothes to get rid of the smell. This time I decided to wash it right away. Knowing that the sweat drenched the clothes I added Lysol pretreatment to the wash and set the soil level to heavy. When the wash was completed (to over two hours) I started emptying the clothes into the dryer but noticed that there was still some lingering scent is sweat. This leads me to think that the unit isn't doing a good job with the wash. As for the drying, similar to the wash there's not custom setting to save my choices. What's even worst is that I can't seem to find a way to manually set the unit to dry my clothes for longer than 60 minutes. If I known how restricting this set was I might have not purchased it. I'm hoping that LG can update their software to this unit so that it'll allow more customization. I doubt it but I can hope, right?

I’ve owned 6 LG machines at multiple properties over the last 5 years. We just installed the new slim line full size stackables and the heater went out in the dryer and spin cycle stopped on washing machine within a few months of owning it. I have multiple other LG products and they have literally been problem free. I also have on order ordered 2 more of the same machine for another project. I sincerely hope this is not a lemon or that if it was stuck on a boat in port that the salt air affected the electronics, or that a lack of quality chips were the cause. Either way I’m concerned and not happy to have had this issue. The service company wouldn’t ship the replacement part to another address or to the store I purchased it from since the property is currently ... MoreI’ve owned 6 LG machines at multiple properties over the last 5 years. I have had my LG Washtower for 3 weeks and I am in love. I researched all the options when I needed to replace my much loved LG stackables that were 16 years old. I could not find any reason not to buy the Washtower as every review I read or watched raved about it. I was worried about the all in one unit as opposed to 2 separate stackable units in case one were to break and an appliance retailer posted that even though they may look the same later on the stackable option with the mounting plates is almost never compatible. Given that my old LGs had lasted 16 years I was pretty confident that the Washtower would be for us. And wow, it is AMAZING. A little smaller in stature making it easier to load and unload the dryer. Given that my old LGs had lasted 16 years I was pretty confident that the Washtower would be for us. And wow, it is AMAZING. A little smaller in stature making it easier to load and unload the dryer. All the bells and whistles, and it is intuitive. I really love that the dryer recognizes which wash cycle was used and then just runs the appropriate dryer cycle. The app is super helpful as well with notifications on when the loads have finished, laundry tips and a countdown and reminder to run the cleaning feature on the washer every 30 loads. And best of all this baby is just darn sexy! Everybody comments on how pretty it is and I have to agree.
I took delivery of this unit two days ago, and I regret buying it for a number of reasons.First, the good: It is very quiet - not silent, but it is impressively quiet during the washer's spin cycle, which can be noisy even on well-built front loaders. Other cycles are acceptably quiet. The drainage pump is audible, but not loud by any means, and the other wash cycles are nice and quiet. The dryer is, well, a dryer, and the noise it makes depends on things like how many metal buttons are on the clothes that are in it.As for the reasons I wouldn't buy this unit again: It has limited flexibility in choosing what you want the washer to do. Just as an example, if you choose the Speed Wash cycle, you can't use hot water. You can choose very warm, but not hot. Just as an example, if you choose the Speed Wash cycle, you can't use hot water. You can choose very warm, but not hot. The temperature choices are limited for other cycles as well, and there are also temperature limitations for the dryer depending on what cycle you've chosen, and you can't override them. Another example: There is no rinse and spin cycle unless you download it from your phone (I am not making this up). If you want permanent press, you can download it from your phone, but then it will cancel out the rinse/spin cycle that you might have previously downloaded (the washer will only store one downloaded cycle at a time). After you wash a load, the dryer automatically chooses a dry cycle that it deems appropriate for the load you've just washed. However, it doesn't necessarily dry the load all the way, and if you want it dry, you need to choose a timed dry cycle to finish drying your laundry.Anyway, I could go on, but I won't. It took a lot of effort for two very large guys to get the unit upstairs and into my small laundry closet, so I wouldn't send it back even if they would let me. Maybe it will grow on me, but I doubt that it will. I am just happy to live a privileged life where a machine does my laundry and my only complaints are of the my-washing-machine-isn't-flexible-enough variety.
I wouldn't purchase these again. You have to leave all of the doors opened when not in use to prevent mildew. That's not great for narrow areas. I've noticed that unless the prewash is selected, clothes don't actually get that clean. I like the sanitary setting, especially if you have a sick person in the house. It doesn't destroy or fade clothing, probably because it doesn't do that good of a job cleaning the clothes in the first place. The stupid signal from these appliances interrupts any other wifi devise in the basement. It's so annoying and so unnecessary. Unless it can put the clothes in the dryer, that feature is completely useless for the consumer. I've owned these now for about three years. To their credit they have not broken down. I paid for the installation through Warner Stellian. They failed to hook up the mini washer. This washer can be purchased separately, but the larger washer sits on top of it. I had to put work on hold twice for the installation, as they had to send a tech back out again. Then the manager at the Nicollet store tired to charge me for it. I should charge them my hourly billing rate for them wasting my time. I have been a loyal customer of Warren Stellian for many years. Don' know anymore.
We've had this for almost 1 1/2 yrs. now and love almost everything about it:Pros = LG app notifies when the wash or dry cycle is complete as well as giving a reminder when to run the tub cleaning cycle and washing the lint filter (never knew we had to do that). My wife is petite, so for her having the control panels consolidated in the middle as opposed to split between the top and middle closed the deal for us. Our old one was over 10 yrs old before it started having control panel issues (not an LG brand) so we were blown away at how little water the LG uses for the same load. It cleans well with so little it was shocking! The one con we've noticed is that even with the setting set to Max Dry the clothes do not always come out completely dry. We often wind up having to run a gentle shorter manual cycle to dry it completely (ours runs on gas). In spite of this, we would get it again. Overall, we are happy enough with it that we have slowly started to replace our other appliances with something from the LG brand family.
I’m very happy so far with this wash tower. The washer seems to use much less water, calibrating the size of the load. The dryer dries very quickly. It has been easy to clean, it’s not too loud, and the control panel is easy to use. I haven’t yet tried the download function to add permanent press as an option. I still might do that though. The unit is a little bit deeper than my last one so it does not fit completely into the cupboard space I planned for. The venting in the back apparently needs more room than older units. So make sure to measure, adding the extra vent space (~5”).I have had six experiences with installation crews from Best Buy in the last few months. After a repair person visit, a new vent, and a couple hundred dollars, everything is working fine now.I recommend LG and specifically this washer dryer combo. It is living up to all I’ve read about it.
I've had my machine for a little over a year now and have tried trouble shooting before leaving any reviews in case of user error, but I keep noticing the same things. The dryer portion does not dry thoroughly if you're doing more than one load of laundry per day without changing the settings(bedding setting works best I've found). The washer portion worked fine for a few months then stopped draining entirely leaving clothes sopping wet. Had a tech come from where we bought it and he said there was nothing wrong with the machine. I have to empty the front drain of water after every load so that it would drain properly.
