Lifestraw gave me this item to test for free. I used it while camping just outside of the boundary waters canoe area with a group of folks.Pros: Super durable. Large capacity. Water flows out at a good rate. Tastes better than any of the other water we drank.Areas for improvement: Was hard to fill the reservoir with lake water. Need a little carrying case for the backwash and plug so you don’t lose them.Overall, I’m super impressed with the quality of this product. It’s great for group camping in areas where there’s no reliable drinking water. I’ll definitely be using this again, many times.

I am impressed with this gravity water filter System . It's super lightweight and easy to carry in a backpack . It comes with a Carry strap also . This thing is very durable ! It is made out of TPU laminated nylon reinforced fabric . It includes a hose with a clip to stop flow and astandard quick connector . One of the features I like is that it has a backwash syringe . This removes 99.9% of bacteria, parasites and micro plastics efficiently. You can also use it as a water storage bag and it will does not leak ! It comes with a clip so you can easily hang it from a tree branch . I love it have taken it back backing with me several times now and it has become a staple on my hiking and camping adventures .

Bottom line: filters but does so slowly.So far I've used this filter for a 6+ day canoe trip and a 3 day canoe trip. The first time I used it to filter 8L the flow rate was pretty good, and it filled the clean bladder within the advertised time. But the second time I filtered 8L the flow rate reduced to a trickle. I tried back flushing the filter but didn't notice an improvement in flow rate. After getting home, I couldn't get the filter to return to the fast flow I experienced the first time I used it. Assuming some error on my part or the product, I ordered another filter but had a similar experience (the first filtration was quick, but the flow rate slowed way down during subsequent filters). I was filling from a lake and the filter screen made it nearly impossible to fill. I had to remove the filter screen every time.- the filter screen was such a pain to put back on. The water I was using was relatively clean and clear of floaters. For the best results and least amount of time spent waiting for all the water to filter, I’d have to back flush every 3-4liters. No other filter I’ve used before needed this much cleaning.- because of the above issue, I had to constantly be on water duty. It would take 30-60 (hour + sometimes) minutes to completely empty the bladder (with back flushing it was slightly shorter but the time to back flush almost equaled that of just letting it run).- back flushing was a pain. Because I was needing to back flush constantly I had to be extra careful in not getting my clean water and clean parts contaminated by the bad water. I wish I could attach the syringe to the surgical tubing. But you have to pull the surgical tubing off every time you back flush. I found it worked best to remove the filter from the bladder to back flush.- there are a bunch of straps And connection points for hanging and carrying but one lays just below the filter. After filling in the lake, dirty yucky water would drip off of that strap and sometimes jump onto the clean surgical tubing that fed into my clean safe water source. I had to pay extra attention to make sure cross contamination wasn’t happening.

Setup was a breeze, very intuitive and I didn't even need the setup instructions. I gathered water from a nearby creek feeding the lake, which was pretty clear to start with. Filling the dirty water bag was a bit awkward kneeling creekside due to the steep bank and I could only manage to get about 6L of water into the bag even with it completely submerged. I decided to wade into the creek to get a better angle and this worked so much better to get it completely full. I suspended the bag from a nearby tree with the clean catchment bag tethered directly below. The full 8L of water completely filtered in under 19 minutes, which meant the end product ...
