So I need to make a baby blanket for a friend. I needed the yarn sooner than later so I ran into JoAnn on the way home. Lion Brand Pompador was in two bins so I dug to match dye lots, paid for 6 skeins of this yarn. The label says it's a 3 wgt but it's a pretty thin 3wgt. the color isn't true white bua step below to off-white. The label says it's supposed to be white. I go to start my blanket and the BABY yarn is so scratchy! Isn't so soft. If I don't like the feel and scratchiness, it's not comfy soft for a baby... maybe a sweater but not a blanket. Some reviews on the yarn in various place talks about a change to the yarn and label. I don't if the blue level is new or the old and on the yarn one is softer than the other. I don't know if the blue label.is new or ... MoreSo I need to make a baby blanket for a friend. I needed the yarn sooner than later so I ran into JoAnn on the way home. This yarn is terrible! I bought 5 skeins to make a baby afghan. I haven’t even used 1.5 skeins yet. Couldn’t find end on the outside or inside. Had to pull a huge chunk of yarn from the middle. I have spent more time untangling this mess than I have crocheting. I have never done this but I am going to return the remaining 3 skeins and attempt to find another yarn that isn’t such poor quality. It’s a shame to read review for Lion Brand, Bernat and Caron and so many comments about how the quality isn’t what it used to be on so many of their different lines. Used to be my go to brands. Shame they have no pride in their products anymore.

I bought this yarn for to make a baby afghan. After starting the piece I saw that the yarn varied in thickness. Some of the strands looked flat while others seemed more round. At one point there was a fat clump of strands that I had to use the scissors to make thin enough to use. This happened a second time but not as thick. At another point in the middle of the ball it just broke off so I had to make a knot to continue with my afghan. I would not recommend Baby Soft yarn because of the inconsistencies in the yarn. This is not the quality yarn that I expect from Lion Brand Yarn so I had to only give it two stars.

I purchased three skins of this yarn, and everyone of them had many knots. Towards the end of the skein, the yarn was much thicker and thinner in several areas. I became very frustrated and ended up cutting quite a bit out. I would not choose this yarn again
Picked this yar up yesterday to knit a quick newborn hat as part of a baby gift. It feels great, and the color was an exact match to the sleepers I bought, so I really like the yarn itself. However, I was disappointed about the numbers of knots in the product. The little cap took 25 gr of yarn, which is approximately 82 yards. Yes, I weighed it - I'm that kind of knitter :). I ran into two separate knots - and they were less than 10 yards apart. I know running into knots is sometimes just the luck of the draw, but this seems excessive. C'mon, Lion Brand, you can do better!
Baby Soft is perfect for making layettes. I always try to have at least two layettes on hand in neutral colors (green and yellow). As soon as I know a family member or close friend is pregnant, I send them labeled color swatches of Baby Soft to select the layette color they want. I use less lacy patterns for boys, more lacy patterns for girls and somewhere in between if they aren’t announcing the baby’s sex until birth. If you use Baby Soft buying the three pack is the most economical unless Michaels has a great sale. Order two three packs. Depending on how large you make the blanket (I always make it larger the the pattern states) you will need the extra 4th and/or 5th skeins.
Inconsistent weight/width throughout a single skein, multiple manufacturing knot within just a few feet. Got three colors to make a baby blanket and the width of the strands are vastly different. Would not recommend and would not repurchase.
Writing this review in the event someone is unsure if they want to commit to this specific bundle! I needed yarn to crochet for a friend's (upcoming) newborn baby. My requirements were something extremely soft and machine washable, so that the items would be comfy for baby but also wouldn't be a care-burden for a new mom. After extensive reviews, it was this youtube review that persuaded me to try this yarn out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZJaDB8zh-I.I purchased this yarn in the color "natural" and it came a little more like ivory. The yarn was easy to work with and I made a little blanket, small booties, scratch mitts, and a small first polar teddy bear. As mentioned in the vid, the yarn became SO soft after I threw all of the finished crochet items into the wash + dryer, and there wasn't any discernable stretch or shrinkage (only the teddy bear puffing up a bit, adorably).
This yarn has been soft, stretchy, and easy to work with. I saw some complaints in other reviews about excessive knots, but so far I've only come across one so far. I really like the subtle color variations.
I bought 5 skeins of the Lion Brand Baby Soft yarn in white for a baby blanket. I prefer to work from the inside of the skein and as I reached into at least 3 of the skeins (possibly all of them) the inside has been a bundle of tangled mess, including yarn joined together in several places with knots. The current skein I'm using took over 3 hours to untangle, including having to cut my project away from it and then rejoining the yarn once untangled. If I hadn't already gotten so much of the blanket done already I would have taken it all back to the store. I have never had this problem with any other yarn so I may never buy this brand again. I love the feel of it when crocheting with it and the blanket is softer than I had expected so I am pleased with that.
