I am so disappointed in this yarn. I always trusted Lion Brand yarns but will not anymore. I bought 3 skeins of Pound of Love yarn on sale at Joann’s to make a light weight blanket. I’ve been crocheting for years and and quite familiar with the center pull start but none of these had a center pull that worked. I’ve even had times when a little clump of yarn came out before the center pull worked but none of these had a center pull that worked. I literally spent hours on each skein rolling balls from the OUTSIDE of the skeins. I had toput the purchased pounds of yarn in a laundry basket so they would have room to bounce around while I wound the balls. I was not a happy camper. It took me 1 1/2 days to wind three one-pound skeins. A pound of yarn really is quite a bit and this was made more difficult because I am a senior and have mobility problems. I thought of going back to Joanns with these messes but it wasn’t worth the bus ride and also because I agonized over the color choices since my first choices weren’t available. Returning what I had bought just didn’t seem like a good option. I won’t ever buy Pound of Love yarn again, and I certainly don’t recommend it.

I wish I could give it negative stars

This is the first and last time I’ve used this yarn. In 19 rows I have 11 ends thy have to be weaved in because of all the knots I’ve had to cut out of the yarn. I also pulled out the center of the yarn and half of it came out as a separate ball of yarn not attached to the rest. The thickness is inconsistent. The first 7 rows look amazing, the rest you can see through and is so stringy the project has gone in the garbage. I never write reviews but this is so awful it would have been a disservice to not. That said, Joann’s is great and it’s not their fault this yarn is awful. I will purchase the yarn to remake this project at Joann’s again.

We are pleased with the quality of this yarn and love the color selections. Our ministry members purchase the yarn for these projects and some of the Parishioners donate yarn to our group. If we are awarded a gift card from Michael’s it would be put to good use and it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for considering us for your gift card.

Lion Brand Pound of Love Yarn - Thistle
3 October 2021

This review is on Lion Brand Pound of Love Yarn. On 9/15/21 purchased 12 skeins of Lion Brand Pound of Love Yarn in variety of colors. I have purchased this yarn many times in the past and been satisfied with quality of yarn but this time the quality is awful. Listed as #4 worsted weight but is more like #5 weight. This skein (Thistle color) was terrible! I found 4 loose ends tangled within the skein, and in the photo, the 3rd strand from the left is actually coming from the center of the skein. The two small piles of yarn were just stuffed into the center of the skein. I have not checked the other colors thoroughly yet and hope I will not find any other issues. I will be hesitant to purchase Lion Brand yarn in the future.

Love the yarn, BUT

Let me first say how much I love this yarn. It is soft, I love the large skein - when making an afghan, the large skeins mean you don't have to tie off as often. BUT - - - - I am beyond frustrated with my latest skeins. I bought enough to make a large afghan. Every skein has been a battle!! I like to pull from the middle rather than unwind from the outside. It is hard to find the starter string in the middle, and the skeins I was able to find it on had one tangle after another!! Not every color has given me that kind of difficulty, but these are terrible!! I am also disappointed that this company uses dye lots. I have used Herschners and there are no dye lot numbers - the skeins all match perfectly. Red Heart Super Saver I believe does not use dye lots. I was ...Ā MoreLet me first say how much I love this yarn. It is soft, I love the large skein - when making an afghan, the large skeins mean you don't have to tie off as often. Pound of frustration …

I have used this yarn for years. They have changed the yarn and I think they changed where it is made (different manufacturer) I think the quality of the yarn has improved but the problem is if you are like me and like to pull from the inside this yarn now is a ball of knots! I even had 1 skein where when I pulled a huge chunk of yarn came out and was not attached to anythingšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø. I also notice that there are small threads from other colors that are mixed into it (see pic below) . Like red thread with the antique white yarn. Impossible to get out. Also the dye lots are way off. The skien I had left over has more of a cream color, the new skien is very white, they were bought about a month apart. Unhappy customer

I bought this in various colors to make a lapghan for my mum. The black is more like a heathered dark gray with a center pull that barfed me up a separate ball of yarn not attached to the main. The beige was stuffed with a ball of pieces that I don't even know what could be done with it other than maybe stuff something. The burgundy is inconsistent in size, sometimes thick, sometimes thin, lots of ties and sloughs off tufts of burgundy fluff. This is just sad and I feel ripped off. This project is going to be heavy on the labor rather than the love.

Very POOR Quality
17 January 2023

I bought 2 skeins of this yarn. One skein was all chopped up, there was about 20 ends coming out of the middle, it was a mess. The second skein that I started using is very poor quality. There were several sections that were all frayed, knotted and thin. I had to cut it and make a knot in my work because it had "frays" in my work that were very visible. This is the first time I bought this yarn but I thought being Lion Brand it would be good quality. I am very disappointed and will NOT buy this yarn again.

Very very disappointed
2 December 2022

I live to far from the store to return them. But I just bought 2 skeins in the store to crochet a sweater. Today I sit and find not only a terrible yarn barf, as I untangled it I find it was a off cut stuffed into the center. Additionally as I'm trying to roll it into a ball to be more manageable considering it's condition, I'm finding huge portions of the yarn to be maybe a 2 on a 4 yarn! (Adding a photo) Even once I can untangle the mess it's unusable! Short pieces are partially undyed. And there are chunks of glue. The store is a full hour away there's no way it's worth the gas to return it but it's totally unusable. I'm so very disappointed my plan was a nice sweater to work on this winter. Not happening with this yarn!

i bought the wintergreen color of this yarn, and i loved the color. however the skein tangled so badly, and repeatedly. it was broken into 5 different pieces by the time i got it all untanged and wound into balls. none of those 5 sections of yarn were tied together. all their loose ends got caught up and caused horrid tangles of yarn barf when pulled from the middle. so the second skein i tried pulling from the outside. well the way the skein is wound over the ends, the skein tumbles head over foot each time it unwinds. the gigantic skein cant just stay where you put it like inside a snapware yarn container or special yarn totebag with a grommet for the yarn to pull through. you literally CANNOT pull the yarn up. i had to repeatedly cut away badly spun sections. i ...Ā Morei bought the wintergreen color of this yarn, and i loved the color. however the skein tangled so badly, and repeatedly. it was broken into 5 different pieces by the time i got it all untanged and wound into balls. none of those 5 sections of yarn were tied together. all their loose ends got caught up and caused horrid tangles of yarn barf when pulled from the middle. so the second skein i tried pulling from the outside. well the way the skein is wound over the ends, the skein tumbles head over foot each time it unwinds. the gigantic skein cant just stay where you put it like inside a snapware yarn container or special yarn totebag with a grommet for the yarn to pull through. you literally CANNOT pull the yarn up. i had to repeatedly cut away badly spun sections. i will never buy this yarn again. no wonder they keep putting it on sale for so cheap. its crap.
