Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox

It is an adequate fun little sandbox. My kids are 12, 6 and 4. I set this up next to their water table. It is not big enough to sit in, however, I would not want that as who wants their kids clothes full of sand? They can sit around it and all play together. My 4 year old, the only boy loves it the most as he loves the digger and the trucks but they all enjoy it. The lid is a little wonky to get on and off and it gaps, which depending upon where you keep it could expose it to a heavy rain. I keep this sandbox on the deck which keeps exposure to a minimum and as the sand does easily get out and can just be brushed off the deck this way instead of piling up in the lawn.

Great price for a great product

The lid isn't going to ever shut tight but it's enough to keep the rain and critters out. It definitely is worth the cost for sure, all the extra toys and the way it all expands with the lid as another play surface and ramp for the construction vehicles. Very happy with my purchase! Just dropped to four stars simply because the lid is a bit awkward to get on and off and doesn't shut tight, but it works.

Great sand box that isn't too big

I've never been a fan of sand boxes. The idea of my kids getting all sandy and then tracking that sand throughout my house. BUT this sand box is perfect. It's big enough to play but not big enough to sit in the sand.Love that it has a giant crane. My son is obsessed with anything construction. I bought a bunch of 3 inch dinosaur skeletons to hide in the sandbox and he uses his trucks and tools to find them. It's a game that keeps him occupied and gives me a 30 min break :)If your on the fence, just go ahead and get it. The price is unbeatable for everything you get with it.

I can’t get my 2 year old out of the sandbox!

I don’t typically write reviews but this sandbox deserves one. My father got this for my sons 2nd birthday and I kid you not he spends every waking minute playing in this sandbox. It’s the perfect size, I love that the cover goes on it (even though it didn’t quite protect it from the rainstorm we just had). It took my son a little bit of time (and strength) to figure out how to operate the digger and now he’s a pro. He is obsessed with this sandbox it is hands down the best gift he has received. Worth every penny. I’m actually considering buying a few more to have at each grandparents house and at our beach house, it provides hours upon hours of endless fun for my son which is especially important as I also have a newborn!

Non electronic creativity!

Really cute! I was very pleased with the quality of the toy. My grandsons loved it. The box is not large enough to for my two and four year olds to sit in. I purchased the toy to allow them to play with the sand not to sit in it. The toys that come with the box are adorable and little tykes quality. I placed the box in a covered area and this factor along with the cover for the toy keeps the sand clean. I purchased a bag of play sand from Walmart to fill the box . I am very pleased with this toy!

Not designed well

A little disappointed with this sand box. It was a bit smaller than I had anticipated. I also feel it was poorly designed in some aspects. There is no way to cover the excavator part of the toy so I am constantly having to wipe bird poop, grass, etc off of the excavator before play. It would have been better if the excavator could be tucked in under the cover.The worst part however, is the two holes for the tools and the way the cover comes off. Anytime it rains and you take the cover off of the sand box all the sand gets soaked! The holes for the tools dont have any cover over them so they are constantly filled with water with no easy way to drain as you cant simply lift a sandbox full of sand and dump the water out. Perfect sandbox!

I know many people complained the size. Come on guys, did your pay $400 or $40? If you paid the latter, dont complain about the size. This sand box is not meant for a kids to sit it. Its perfect size for us to use as a construction site sandbox. Kids( 2 and 3) love it super and kept them busy here for hours. Quality is great and solids. I love it comes with cover and we dont have to worry about rainy days.

We have shopped around for a sandbox for our 3 year old daughter for quite some time before we decided to go with this one. We knew we did not want a huge sandbox but something big enough for her to be entertained. This one fit the bill!One major plus that my daughter loved is that the lid attaches to the side of the sand box and is like a little ramp for the included truck to go down. Its a plus for me because I dont have to chase a blowing away lid around the yard lol! The crane that is attached is awesome, my daughter loves using it to dig around in the sand. So small but fun

This Little Tikes Big Digger sandbox with lid is so small but its a lot of fun for little toddler/preschoolers. As others have said, the manufacturers information is misleading. The sandbox itself is only 8 inches tall and about 25 inches wide. The box rim has openings all along it so you can't fill to the top with sand. This can hold exactly 100 lbs of sand. The excavator is very cool and its the reason that we chose to buy this. We have a 2 yr old and 3-1/2 year old playing with this and they both love it so much. They have spent a lot of hours this week digging in the sand.

Super cute, liked the smaller size

Love it! I wanted a smaller sandbox. My son loves it. My only cons are the lid takes a little extra effort to put back in, and the excavator doesn’t spin well when sand gets in the space below it. Some people used two bags of sand. I used one and it was plenty!
